That’s not what happened.
There’s a very clear view where the player has entered the zone with his stick on the puck, and the Swiss player swats the stick and he no longer controls the puck well before the puck gets to the blue line.

He entered the zone with control of the puck, but the puck entered after he’d lost control of it. Rather stupid hair splitting if that’s the current interpretation.

That was a clear entry into the Zone or how the official call is. controlled entry into the Zone with the Puck. Wondering why swiss took here a challenge. Those the stick lift doesnt make it a controlled entry?
He made the challenge because he knows his team is unlikely to score 2 goals.

This Swiss team has absolutely zero offensive talent at this level. Worst Swiss team I can remember in the last 10 years off the top of my head. Hopefully just a bad birth year and they are back to their usual selves in the next couple years.

There are some problems but Jonas is totally right player quality is a way bigger factor than coaching. Maybe loosing against Germany might get some reforms for the junior programm on going...

Look at Germany. They have 1 line and a whole bunch of plugs, piss poor defense and questionable goaltending. We have two lines at least, 5 solid defenders and very good goaltending. With last change and much better goaltending, this should be more than possible. But with this sort of coaching, not a chance. Name me only one game where lines or ice times made any sort of sense. Only one. And we're not even talking about matchup's.

I just imagined the line Draisaitl - Stützle - Kahun and came to the conclusion that Germany really needs a cool best-on-best tournament as soon as possible, be it the Olympics or different event. They are going to have like 2 of the 10 best forwards in the world plus a few other great players. Such a rise for hockey in Germany.

No the Swiss player didn't touch the puck. If he did it would be no goal.
Not sure you saw what everybody else saw.

What a beautiful goal my goodness.

I think he's referring to the stick on stick contact as Stutzle released the puck. Could be viewed as a good stick check to knock the stick off the puck. If you believe Stutzle was trying to hold onto it. But it's pretty clear he was trying to do what he did.

How is your shutdown game coming along? :sarcasm:

Look at the lines and who's out there vs Stützle. It's not happening. Canonica still out vs top lines and best players spread all over the lineup. 0 chance of winning like this.

Peterka and Elias are extremely good as well. Elias has been amazing in all aspects of the game in the tournament, great skill, goalscoring, creativity, work ethic and defending.

oh come on, acting like Switzerland is higher quality than Germany this year is just ridiculous

He didn't lose control. He intentionally put the puck around the swiss player, you can argue that isn't control if you want. You can't argue it was was knocked off his stick, it wasn't.

They still need couple more Seiders and forwards to compete at olympic level

No. The main problem is idiot coaching. Canonica is the worst player on this roster but they keep on playing him vs top lines. It was his giveaway that led to the goal against. I called all this even before the game. Our coaching is horrid. The lines or icetimes haven't made sense in a single game. Name only one. And not even with last change they can get the matchup's right. It's unreal. The worst clownshow I've ever seen.

Looking forward to your application for the job.
You always can do lines differently and I see your point. But ... the quality is just not there, whatever lines you would combine. You see it in every aspect of the game. Pass quality, skating, shot quality. We're not on par with Germany and Slovakia this year. They're better. Knak is the only forward with some aspects of elite talent. The rest will have a tough time to crack a NLA-roster in the future. A little bit better on D.
And even if you blame coaching for everything and maybe we could have won one or two games with better coaching, doesn't change that the missing development of individual talent is very concerning. And if you know what the plan of the teams in Switzerland is it is even more concerning.

Masterclass from Stutzle...Fiedler needed to rip his feet out and take the penalty...Germans have slotted guys into different lines..seems to be working fine. Switzerland are on the verge of having this game get away...

You don’t take control away from someone by whacking their stick if the puck is pushed past you and your opponent gets around.

It is our worst team but with this sort of goaltending, we should still win games. And there is offensive talent on the team. Coaching stops them from performing. Knak played with plugs only until today. Gaetan Jobin had 3 points last year and is probably our best forward besides Knak but he's playing 8mins per game with the biggest bums on the team. I couldn't even drink enough to come up with ideas like this.

You guys don't have anyone close to Stutzle/Peterka, none. Deal with it.

When Germanys top line isn't on the ice, Switzerland are clearly the better team and that isn't really arguable. It won't matter though, Stutzle - Elias - Peterka are too good.
