That was a win and I'll take it

but man this team has some glaring holes

We have no push back physically. If we face another team like Columbus, we are going to get killed

Our 3rd line is soft as butter and 4th line is just old and slow

Simmonds needed to hit someone on the Oilers to let Kassian know. Don't think you are a goal scorer all of sudden

- Galchenyuk was an absolute steal
- Matthews was dominating, out of every god damn chance he had, that's the one that goes in
- Campbell played well, I don't really fault him on those goals, maybe Barrie's but overall he played well
- Holl/Muzzin sucked for the most part
- Oilers had no business being in that game, Smith played ridiculous

The boys deserved this game so I'm glad they got it.

Nylander looked locked in all game, Matthews snakebitten all game and then gets the flukey one at the end, JT looked great tonight too.

Can't wait until 2025 when Mcdavid comes here finally and joins us, that guy is ridiculous

Leafs did really well again limiting chances.

A poor game from Campbell, but the team owed him one.

Oilers fans blaming the refs when we went 0/2 on the powerplay?

Blaming the refs ?? Did they miss Kassian charging JT, or McDavid boarding and cross checking Hyman at the end ?

Jeez you guys hate McDavid eh

He's the best offensive player in the game but... for example... the call on him tonight to draw a penalty was tyke game light.

I saw 2 that could of been called on him... an easy trip on Hyman late in the game... but he's mcjesus so doesn't count.

Superstar treatment I get it... but matthews doesn't get that... not even close

I'm not sure what to make of all the bad reviews for him coming in. He skates like Bure compared to what was said and has been pretty damn solid overall.

I think his main issue was consistency and sometimes being a one man show. But to be fair, I don't think he really got extended looks with skilled players and often found himself in the bottom 6 where he doesn't really belong. It's either top 6 or bust for him imo

So far so good.

Not even joking a little bit, would easily prefer the Oilers over the Habs in the playoffs.

Definitely. Oilers are the weakest team in the North playoffs.

Old ass goaltenders, easy D, no depth. Habs while lacking high end talent play a structured game and Petry is a really really good D, and Price is known to run really hot or really cold so even though his best days are behind him, you can still get goalied by him.

Happy we got the win, team needs to be much better than that though, that oilers team is not that great; Campbell was pretty meh but did enough for another win, he answered Smith with a big save on on Nurse late in the third. Nice to see that 2nd line get going & Matthews to finally get a bounce to rebreak the ice; I'm starting to become pretty impressed with Chucky, I wouldn't count on it but if he keeps going the way he's going than maybe a 3C, bottom 6 mucker/grinder or an extra goalie (less likely but just as insurance) could be the better option before the deadline. Still hasn't changed my mind yet about needing another top 6 forward though.
I think aside from a few defensive breakdowns, the team played a fine game, we hit 4 posts.
This is how playoff games will be, momentum swings, clutch goaltending and be opportunistic.

4 straight wins against Edmonton and Campbell is a cool 6-0-0 on the season. Love to see it.

A poor second period shouldn't overshadow an excellent start and a solid third. They need to change up the PP though.

Yea, the supposed 3rd line got benched for the entire 3rd period. Simmonds, Soup, and Engvall were riding the pine. Simmonds is close to done, imo.

I like'em

I'm with you, he's not a starter IMO. Here's hoping that's enough to win this playoffs or Andersen finds another level down the stretch.

I don't know, I think jury's still out on Campbell's starting abilities. Being down 3-1 in the second and closing the door is standard fare in a hockey game.

Not really. He's a special and passionate player so when your team can beat him it's a great feeling...

Draisaitl is another matter. For me, I dislike him with a passion.
Fair enough. I was just stopping by to post that Galchenyuk pass and I saw the thread title and some of the other posts and I thought it was funny.

Can we all agree that we need another top 6 left wing?

No doubt Gally can get an extended look on that 2nd line, but Simmonds is a bottom 6 player at this point and Thornton shouldn't even be dressing every night, IMO.

If you want Hyman driving the third line, we need to add a legit top 6 LW. We have the space and the resources to do so.
