Open Season on Devils star players.

Everyone just standing around watching their franchise player get taken out into the boards.

I dont care if its accidental, or with zero intent, you gotta let everyone know that nobody is even allowed to breath near your superstars.

Pathetic
agree but wrong era. Those days are pretty well done.

it looked like his right knee gave way for whatever reason which resulted in Hughes slowly crashing into the net. Eichel battling for position or at least taking Hughes angle away. It didn't look like Eichel was trying to hurt him or anything. I hope hughes is ok.

This guy needs to start playing smarter based on his speed and lack of physical strength, you watch them enough and you see that he is so reckless. Now please don't come at me because of the freakishness of this play but they're starting to mount up with how often he gets knocked around how often he puts himself in bad positions

They just played together at the 4 nations and Eichel stayed there after checking that he was OK. No malicious intent and looked like 2 guys playing hard and bad result.

Keefe blew a gasket as Hughes was involved in a very similar play earlier in the period and Hughes was penalized leading to a goal against on that PP.

Inconsistant reffing from Wes? Say it ain't so....
easy to prevent, dont be so Jack and skate slower

So, never played hockey?

I separated my shoulder and was off the ice for 5 months on a surprisingly similar not that bad, nonchalant impact with the boards.

I separated my shoulder after face planting after my skate got stuck in a rut. I agree it doesn't matter how nonchalant something looks its quite easy to dislocated or separate something.

I have never played hockey, so I may be totally off here, but to me it looked like Eichel was trying to stop or at least slow down and in the process his right skate made contact with Hughes' right skate and they both ended up losing balance and crashed into the boards. Hughes got the worst of it and the injury is of course extremely unfortunate, but it wasn't a malicious play by Eichel, and I am not even sure I would call it reckless, though a case could probably made for that.

I hope Hughes recovers quickly and most importantly fully.

Yeah it wasn't malicious but likely should have been a 2 minute tripping penalty.

Does this actually work? Do players decide to not play physical with star players from other teams cause they are oh so scared of being jumped by a goon from another team? I'd be surprised if someone made it to this level of hockey but is terrified of physicality. Would Eichel not try to play defense there simply because he is afraid that another hockey player might punch him a couple times?
