The 2 Czechia goals. 1st one is a banger.

The 2nd one is the own goal:

The disallowed goal by Portugal. They called it offside really quickly, that's for sure.

The game winning goal by Portugal in injury time.

Two ridiculous offside calls today, at the very least, one that went against Turkey and another that went against Portugal, which support the kind of change that Wenger wants and that I advocate. Both justify the notion that the current offside rule detracts from, rather than adds to, the game. Both VAR calls, founded on the rulebook, came close to denaturing the final result.

Nevertheless, both seemed like great games, judging by the highlights. Turkey is the revelation for me so far. They play fearlessly. Arda Güler is something else.

Matchday 2 starts tomorrow. 3 games again.

9 a.m.: Croatia vs Albania. These 2 countries hate each. We'll see how the fans behave. If Serbia was put into this group, the Yugoslavian War might get re-started.

12 p.m.: Germany vs Hungary

3 p.m.: Scotland vs Switzerland

Mother of God, what an exciting game between Croatia and Albania. Late sub Gjasula with the game-losing own-goal followed by the game-tying goal in the last moments of the game.

Spectacular own-goal by Schär. It would have nestled in the Swiss goalie's hands otherwise. A lot of putrid own-goals so far in this Euro.

Edit: Shaqiri with the opportunistic, seeing-eye goal in the top corner. He's like a soccer counterpart of Cole Caufield.

Aside from the size, Cole Caufield would be a far superior player. He's one of the highest paid players in MLS but doesn't show it much. Ironically they're paid about the same amount

He's getting along in age. Basically a tiny player with a good shot and a good nose for the goal. They are not a precise fit, but there are some intriguing parallels. Caufield has better mobility, which is the main difference.

Copa America 2024 starts tomorrow.

8 p.m.: Canada vs Argentina, TSN, CTV2, RDS, FOX

Canada's match opens the tournament, which is being held in the USA.

I'll make this thread live for Canada's matches.
