Multiple positions? I don’t think you can claim multiple positions for Cucurella if you are pointing LCB. He is smaller than Kounde, who apparently was too small to play CB for Tuchel. It’s either hypocritical and/or lame justification for the transfer fee. Cmon. It’s one or the other.

again not saying he is a bad player, but Don’t think it’s fair to have him down as a CB cover solution
You best inform Tuchel he can't actually play multiple positions.

Not happy about the Alonso rumors in addition to the rest of it because Balde doesn’t get his shot.

HAHAHAHA I'm sure this Alella kid (30 mins from Barcelona) who's actually family of Bartomeu's grew up dreaming about playing for Chelsea...

Yeah, I scratched my head when I saw that one. Anyway, Cucu is solid, but big overpayment by Chelsea.

He’d probably like his pay checks to clear so he’s not interested in going home

I’m sure his checks would clear were he at Old Trafford, but then the prospect of no Champion’s League football anytime soon probably isn‘t enticing. Of course you can’t blame him since few players of any significance are interested in Old Trafford nowadays. Ronaldo isn’t even interested.

He's always been on our shortlist, but they were likely focused on others because they knew they have to overpay a bit to get Fofana.
This is all kinds of ridiculous as a statement. How long is the ”shortlist“ ? Chelsea now is deciding they are worried about overpaying? Are you in public relations or something?

Anyone who buys from Leicester does so knowing there will be a premium. Obviously value relative to cost is a factor when prioritizing targets. No doubt we missed out on guys like De Ligt, and no doubt we had inferior, but cheaper targets ahead of Fofana.

Fofana has always been linked by the Chelsea insiders.

“Insiders” I could have linked Fofana to Chelsea, and most other teams.

I dont think you (not specifically you) get to claim that after striking out on guys, having bids accepted on guys and signing guys before landing on Fofana, that he was always a top target because of Leicester is good at selling people. That’s silly.

I'm not saying he was the top target, just that he's been on the reported list. Its not like we struck out on everyone we actually wanted and then decided to look at everyone else.

Fun fact: Chelsea pays big money for spanish players. If you have a spanish player just contact Chelsea and they will splash the cash.

Are you saying Chelsea would be in on Fofana if they signed De Ligt or Kounde? It kind of is like that. Not exactly like Chelsea is waiting for any outgoings here to help with the transfer fee.

We have out bad expensive buys of Spain, but also good buys like Mata and Azpilicueta. Hell, Pedro too.

No, those guys were obviously ahead on the list for reasons they have. What I'm saying is, Fofana has been on the list of targets for awhile, I wouldn't characterize him as a panic buy like some others in the past.

Oh I’m not trying to say it’s a panic buy (and not sure what Spanish has have to do with it) but it’s not brilliant scouting either. I’m saying it would be a good buy and he should have been the first one in, and it’s lucky that they are backing into him. Therefore it shouldn’t be presented otherwise. At this level there aren’t really panic buys. It’s if the strategy makes sense and are they going into A situation they can succeed

Spanish part was directed at a different post, but new HF combines posts that were posted around same time of each other.

You lot bought Torres, Morata and Kepa for a combined 200 million. And now also Cucurella but he probably won’t flop. But still.
