The Athletic did a hit piece on Barcelona's financial mess.
I can't post the whole article, but some of what's contained in it.
Asking UEFA for advances, requests for strange transfer clauses and suspicions of leaks. Yet Barcelona think they're on the right track...

—With regards to the CL money, from what I recall reading yesterday that was the previous board. Additionally, I‘d want to some source material on this one.
—Whether or not the club registers some of the players at the start of the season or before the transfer window deadline, what matters most is the latter. Not to mention that’s speculative, but the club will undoubtedly register all the players and again I’d be happy to make a friendly wager with anyone who thinks otherwise. Furthermore, this is entirely speculative. What I have read is the club has submitted documentation to the league and are waiting to hear back if they’re clear or if they need more money to register everyone.
—Kind of funny they have some of the figures of the Leeds deal but not all of them. I find the bit about two windows highly unprobable.
—Kind of funny again that anonymous La Liga exec would actually agree a transfer, assuming Barca are even interested in anyone they have, when he’s so afraid of not getting the money they’re due. I mean if you’re not going to get the full fee do you think you’re going to get the clause?
—As for the ”spirit of the sustainability encouraged by La Liga’s financial controls”, that bit made me laugh out loud. And to think this came from a Chief Executive. The fact the club has to “mortgage their future” is a result of said financial controls and means they’re working. And ”how is this happening”? Well Barca’s assets are actually worth something. Maybe focus on your club and see how that goes. Hopefully the coward‘s club gets it’s ass handed to him by us this season.
—Players’ salaries have been in the news for years. This is nothing new. Every time the club signs a player their wages are in the news. Not to mention sources consistently aren’t aligned as to the actual salaries. As with all the attention around Barca this Summer, it’s funny how this is news with regards to Barca and yet when other clubs’ players’ salaries come out it’s not news.
—Laughed again at “agents wonder”. Ter Stegen has been rumored as a potential sale well before the transfer window even opened for exactly the same reason De Jong is. He’s on big wages. If your client is on big wages, then there should be little wonder he might be targeted to be sold. Again, De Jong is slated to be on more than both Lewandowski and Dembele, combined. Is that De Jong’s fault? No. Should he be forced to take a wage cut (which isn’t happening for the record)? No. Should it be a surprise the club want him to reduce his wages or leave? No.
So some laughable stuff from the article and I’m not sure why out of the little I know that the vast majority of this would even be posted, but…
The one Bayern quote was fake, but I saw others that they legitimately would not accept installment payments from Barca due to previous failure to fulfill them (Vidal).
I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but I’d like to see sources saying installments were missed. I’ve read more than this Summer posts on this forum saying ”Barca still owe X to club Y for player Z” as some sort of revelation because the person posting doesn’t understand how the transfer market works (not to mention it’s only news when it’s Barca).
