So Ronaldo is staying at Man U or what?
Has he shown up? Haven't heard squat outside of 'CR is in Hag's plans'

No, he's still in Portugal. By all accounts the family emergency is genuine - the fact that the UK media has generally maintained a respectful silence on the subject also implies this.

He won't be joining the players on tour at this point, but neither will Eriksson or Martinez as the club decided it wasn't worth flying them all the way to Oz for the tail end of the tour. The test will come when they come back, and see if Ronnie turns up then. EtH has said he intends to sit down with him when they get back FWIW.

The problem is, it wouldn't do him any good to not turn up because its not United that's refusing to sell him, it's that no other top club wants him and his astronomical wages. Even with the 25% pay cut that all Utd players got for not making the UCL, he's still on £375k per week.

80K is a massive gulf from 200K. Signing does look a lot better with that in mind.
I’d love to see the source for £80k.

All the reporting was he was holding out for at least £180k/week. Three days later he takes £80k? And that’s ignoring The Guardian reporting £200k. Even the other tweet in this thread couches the quoted figure below 200k as still “mind boggling £££”, which 80k certainly doesn’t qualify as.

I bet the second highest earner on that squad can’t be making more than £50k/week. Interesting dressing room dynamic, especially when Lingard disappears for two months.

That's just 3M euros a year, I'm pretty sure Awoniyi's clear of that. IIRC Taiwo is getting paid more than Kruse, and Wolfsburg paid Max 5M for 1.5 seasons (3.333 a year).

I know it's fun to mock clubs for massive wages but this one was too crazy to be true.

Maybe 80k a week after tax.

Even if its 200k p/w, whilst vastly, vastly overpaid, its actually only costing them £10M for the year - if they bought him for £7.5M and paid him £50k per week no one would bat an eyelid.

If he helps keep them up, then its worth it. If they go down, they're not anchored to an albatross of a contract. Just glad he's not United's problem anymore.

Interesting. Seems structured in a way where he can supplement that above that rate, but much better structure to that.

The £200k stuff was on the back of all the reporting on his demands, so it wasn't completely out of left field. Apologies then. Good signing for Forest ultimately, but think I'll still count West Ham lucky they missed out. The fascination Moyes has with Lingard was bordering on pathological given how many windows in a row they've chased him.

Still odd the conflicting reporting, but that's all too common.

Thats cheap for such a good player.
Tagliafico was never able to follow up on his ‘18/19 campaign. In my opinion, I don’t think I ever saw a better Ajax back during the years I watch Ajax closey. Ajax refused to sell him to Barca during that season, but made a promise they will coorperate (as in for a low, disclosed fee) in the summer if he finishes the season in Amsterdam. Somehow though, the right team didn’t come knocking that summer and Tagliafico regressed a bit ever since. Hence he wasn’t a starter last season anymore so Ajax also brought in Wijndal.

He’s a fan favourite though. I will miss him for sure.

Daniel Taylor and Sam Wallace have both confirmed it. Proper journalists. It’s about £80k plus performance bonuses that’d take it to around £121k total. The £200k figure was quoted by one mediocre journalist and been copied ad nauseum since.

The fact of the matter is that we haven’t got that kind of money to spend.

Jacob Steinberg is Tier 1 West Ham at The Guardian. Hardly mediocre. If he’s saying West Ham had a competing £150k bid, I believe it. Not saying it’s one or the other, but clearly there is varying reporting on the wages.

Regardless, they’d have been dumb to pay him that, so glad they didn’t.

I like that move to Nottingham. I wanted Lingard to come back to Brighton for the nostalgia of the loan year he had with us. In reality, the move would not have made sense.

Dan Taylor is the best in the business and he's confirmed it. I just can't believe he wouldn't sign for West Ham if they were offering more money.

In any case, the money offered and the length of the contract is fantastic. No risk for us and the chance to extend it if it all goes well. We've made some serious deals this summer, way more backing than i'd ever considered possible.

It might be a difference of net vs gross and then incentives. Or lingard might be betting on himself

No you don't need to understand it. Apparently you just need to comment on it every day despite not understanding it. Makes sense.

Saw that yesterday. Someone should point out Bayern's debt to him and then see if his understanding improves. That said he'd probably do better focusing on Bayern improving this season, though being butthurt about Lewandowski dumping you might not be easy to get over.

Reading that reminded me of the guy who rang my doorbell this past weekend. He asked me who I voted for, if I knew that my vote wasn't counted, if I knew the election was rigged, etc, etc. Must have been Nagelsmann.

Yeah, that won't help, but it'll likely be for what, two seasons at most?

Smart by PSG if he's not expensive.

Who exactly is Craig Hope? We won't buy him. Maybe on a Bosman. Anyway, I'll make a friendly wager if you like.

I'd definitely take Saliba over Kounde, but I fear if we miss out on Kounde they'll get a worse option even though I'm not overly sold on overspending on Kounde.

@Pavel Buchnevich came to your house?

Leipzig seem to have leaped to the front of the line for Raum. Will be interesting if Angelino isn't sold, Raum's deliveries are clearly better but Angelino's quicker and more of a goal threat; the greater quickness plus he's even cleverer with his positioning & runs in the final third.

Plea to OM seems to be moving ahead as well. That BMG attacking corps. is starting to look mighty thin unless their kids step in to fill some holes. With Thuram rumored to be on the move as well, I'm getting a little worried about where the goals will come from.

I really like the Itakura addition and Mbamba reports, which should solidify them at the 6/CB...and natural growth from Scally & Netz pushing Lainer & Bensebaini should leave them stronger at FB/WB.

While Kone looking like he's going to take another step this season, Neuhaus hopefully bouncing back, and Fraulo or Reitz possibly sticking with the senior team this year; should give them a lot more from their 8s this season.

But at this rate, Hofmann, Stindl, & Herrmann's ghost will be their only established attackers left...so those long-rumored Bouanga & Biuk signings can't get done fast enough even if Noß, Italiano, Borges Sanches, Müsel, & Wolf all take huge leaps this season

Bild is reporting Kabak to Hoffenheim. Talk about an up n down career so far, but TSG might be a good spot for him to try & get himself back on track.

They're weird, but I love their midfield talent...
- Samassekou & Prömel are very good veterans, either of whom could start for a club that finished in the CL spots with their workrate, combativeness, and offensive contributions.
- Stiller looks like he's going to be a long-time fixture for our senior NT once he's done anchoring the U21s midfield, and took a big first step into senior football last year.
- Though I'm much less certain of Becker's senior NT future, I like him a lot in a box-to-box role and would've loved to have him replace Prömel for us. The kid was a huge part of St Pauli's (ultimately unsuccessful) promotion push.
- Geiger continues to be extremely talented but equally fragile; I still think he could've pushed Kimmich for the starting spot with the NT if he didn't make Deisler look like an ironman...but alas, his body is made of glass, despite still looking very interesting whenever he is fit enough to see the pitch.
- While Rudy continues to be a profoundly solid oldie who can steady the ship for their kids when injuries pile up.
- Plus both Bischof & Baumgartner can play as the most advanced midfield in a trio when they're not on the wing or at the 10.

They've also got plenty of attacking talent in front of that midfield...Kramaric, Baumgartner, Rutter, Bischof if he doesn't move to the 8...with Bebou, Dabbur, Skov, & Bruun Larson providing them with capable depth/supporting pieces.

and Marco John was a very exciting LWB prospect before losing last season to injuries. If he's made a full recovery, he should be ready to step back in & replace some of Raum's impact going forward...though the 20yo still has a lot to learn defensively & doesn't have Raum's left foot, he's faster and a more dangerous dribbler.

That’s kind of what I’m saying. He was reporting the £200k Forest offer against £150k from West Ham. I don’t disagree it’s an outlandish figure for NFFC to offer, but as you said they’re definitely splashing it out this summer.

It’ll be interesting to see how Lingard does. He’s had such an odd career, I have no idea what to expect.
