I like the idea of Lack. Knows what it's like to backup "the man"....

With couple +40 games season behind him I'm sure you can rule Läck out as a back-up canditate straig'tha'way. With Bobrovski tied down with huge contract there isn't much to play for his kind in Clmbs.

Meh. Not fond of the JJ suggestion.

It's just as well; I think the earliest pick he'd be able to fetch straight up would be 16th (Edmonton's by way of Pittsburgh), and I wouldn't be shocked if it happened.

Was listening to Porty's podcast and Seabrook was tossed around as being a potential cap casualty. He has one more year at 5 million, but would certainly, certainly stabilize our top four. He's only 30, but an old 30.

Murray - Seabrook
Johnson - Savard

Given the Hawks situation, one of our 2nds and a prospect might get that done.

He'd need a contract, ideally 2-3 more years, that could be a great. He'd likely want 5-6 more years.

I would do it without hesitation. He's that good. If paired with Murray, Murray would become much like Duncan Keith. That top four would be pretty damn good, worthy of a playoff/Cup contending team.

Seabrook is way too good for the Hawks to move. They should sooner move Sharpie, Bickell, etc.. And if they did move him his price would be much much higher-- Milano + Rychel or something like that. I would consider it.

so:
JJ to Avs for 10OA
Arty to LA for Martinez
Some pkg of Picks/Players for 3OA
Profit!

If it could be done I'm in. Losing JJ would hurt for the short term but if it added Hanifin and Werenski (or possibly Provorov-if we're dreaming go big) long term I think we're better off.

Looking at their payroll, they'd only entertain it because of the contract he'll want next year. They likely couldn't do it.

They have 53 million committed in 16-17 to NINE players. 6 million + for Seabrook just can't work with that if the cap is around 75 million. Even moving Sharp or Bickell they'd have 43 committed to SEVEN players. Pending Saad's, Kruger's and Shaw's next contracts.

I know that backup goaltending is something that has been touched on here, any thoughts on Martin Jones? He's not being talked about much and he might be a slightly cheaper alternative to Talbot, Anderson, Lehner, Lack, etc.

I agree with this but I'd guess the hope is they don't find takers for the players they'd prefer to move.

Nevermind. I swear I posted this like 10 minutes before they announced his signing.

Seabrook would be fit but as it has been mentioned, there are many guys that Hawks are going to move before him.

I don't think there is much hope for acquiring top pairing RD via trade. They are either soon to be UFAs or pipedreams. You can only acquire them by drafting.

How about focusing on some mid pairing guys that could still help our defense? Kevin Klein maybe?

Not so sure. Perhaps in this case.

Burns, Shattenkirk, Johnson (albeit for each other), Byfuglien, Myers have all been traded.

Letang, Karlsson, Subban, Weber, Seabrook, Doughty, Pietrangelo haven't.

That's pretty much the best of the bunch.

there's a rumor in TR main that Florida is interested in Rantenan.

If Provorov and Hanifin are both off the board at 8 (assuming we don't trade up) what do you guys and gals think about:

11 + Gudbranson for 8 + FW / FW prospect?

Franson One of top UFA D-men this year so somebody will overpay for him
Sekera See above
Oduya Maybe, but he is LD
Jackman 5 years ago, instant yes but is he nothing more than 3rd pair material anymore?
Meszaros No interest
McQuaid ? Some interest but does he offer anything that Prout doesn't?
Hunwick No interest

My opinions bolded.

This would be interesting option and Gudbranson would fit like a glove as top 4 stay-at-home defensemen.
Florida is in need of wingers and that is something we have.

Only problem is that...

They're not moving gudbransen

Pretty sure Jarmo spoke with both of their agents. Big omissions from the previous list.

Both serve different purposes. Martin is more of well rounded defenseman, while Green would be an upgraded, younger version of Wiz. Green will probably cost more than most of here would care to hear. Not sure who to pick there.
