Its a good add for a team that needs help defensively but he shouldn't be confused for a first pairing defender which a few Petes fans seem to be suggesting. Now if they went all in a Mayer its a different conversation.
Yeah Mayer is gonna be a huuuge package and rightfully so, one of the best pure value dman in the league

If anyone watched the Petes playoff series against Ottawa, North Bay and London they would know Konnor Smith’s true value. He is a heavy hitter and makes smart decisions defensively. Offence by defencemen is not the only indicator of their worth. The Petes will only trade him for the right offer.

Smith is going to be a beast for someone this season. I wish Windsor had him; local kid, perfect size, defensive, etc.

I'm not going to bash the kid, he was a good 3rd pair D for the Petes last year. They will get what they get for him.

It was clear he is limited by a lack of speed and puck handling ability. ~ 4, 5, 6 picks.
If you break it down by player it would be Nathan Villeneauve and two, 2nds and two, 3rds for Owen Beck, Matthew Mania and a 2nd and a 3rd for Sam Mayer and a 3rd and a 4th for Liam Sztuska. That is at minimum the Petes could get for all three players separately.
Geez man. The wolves should be reluctant to offer Villeneuve for Beck straight up. Taylor, 2, 3, 3 may be right.

The Petes are not going to trade all their top players for what they can get for them. The only player will almost certainly trade is Owen Beck. The others will be if the offer is right. They are not a bottom of the standings team that everybody thought they would be and have a realistic chance of winning the East Division this year. Everybody exempt the Petes themselves have said this is a rebuilding year for Peterborough.

If you have a realistic chance of winning the east, then why trade Beck?

I don't see the interest for Beck with Dvorsky on the roster. He fills the true 1C need. Plenty of options at the 2-3 spots.
He does fill the physical, top FO, defence with offence centre role admirably though

Assets better spent in other places, I also don't think Beck is that physical at all. Get a big well rounded d-man(or Smith), get some wingers. Much higher priority than anyone down the middle. Between Dvorsky, Goyette, Villeneuve, Delic you've got 3 centers for a championship-caliber team as far as I'm concerned. Need help on both wings, and on the blueline before center.

I do like Villeneuve and Delic at centre, a lot. Goyette is a winger imo.
If you want to win, Dvorsky & Beck for 45 min/g is a really good way to go though.
