I also just hope for his sake that the two weeks don't result in him being released and go through the waiver process, because the Wolves could have in theory released him on day 1 and just go through that process without losing the 2 weeks of playing time.Pushing off that disappointment until the last possible minute? Still feel bad for Chromiak, losing 2 weeks while he was playing well during his draft year sucks.
No, actually it is BS. Get the f'n deal done and allow the kid to move on. The business return is no where near important enough to take 2+ weeks... not a good look for the organization. It is what it is. Yes you'd like the player not to sit but at the end of the day it's the business of sports. He will be playing somewhere very soon and getting good minute's. He'll be fine.
Yeah, definitely feels like this could come back to bite them in future recruitment of European players. No, actually it is BS. Get the f'n deal done and allow the kid to move on. The business return is no where near important enough to take 2+ weeks... not a good look for the organization.
Wolves have until Saturday to make a decision in Chromiak. Confirmed! Two weeks from when he signed would be today, as he signed on October 18.
Was Kolyachonok not a rookie import and thus not eligible to be traded? He had to be waived. These deals don't just happen with a snap of the fingers. It was pretty sudden that Dvorsky was sent, so there wouldn't have been any conversations about it ahead of time. The two import per roster limit also complicates matters, as interested GMs that already have 2 imports would have to have further conversations to see if there was a spot for their import that gets bumped. And that doesn't even get into any possible bidding wars/negotiations etc.
Pretty sure when London waived Kolyachonok it took the full 2 weeks.
Yes, does that somehow make it better that it took 2 weeks? Was Kolyachonok not a rookie import and thus not eligible to be traded? He had to be waived.
No, but London has an easier time recruiting players than Sudbury.Yes, does that somehow make it better that it took 2 weeks?

I would hope Papineau is pushing for that kind of trade as well, especially with Toure out. Can you imagine a pairing for Toure-Smith in the playoffs? Would be something else. I'm just losing faith in this season quickly. Too many things to be fixed. Then add on some more picks. Chromiak is legit. I understand the whole Import scenario/value thing, but this type of package should be intriguing to the Petes. They need picks badly going forward, and will sell at some point. Timing might not be right, but hopefully Papineau is pushing hard for this type of trade involving Chromiak and picks

K. Smith for a 2nd and 3rd is a good deal for the Petes and Chromiak is an 05 cherry on the top. Don't over estimate what you would be getting in Smith. He's a big physical player with no offensive upside... None. For most contenders he will slot in as a 4th D and PK guy. Sudbury would be getting another Toure. Then add on some more picks. The Petes are not trading Konnor Smith at this point in the season. The Petes would want a 17 year old defenceman plus the two draft picks, not a defenceman Sudbury has to trade.Chromiak, 2nd 25, 3rd 26

Because he will be drafted after he has played in the CHL he is not eligible to play in the AHL. His only options are the NHL, OHL or Europe.Does anyone know if Chromiak - as an import - can play in the AHL after he's drafted? I'm assuming he has a similar status to Filip Mesar and can play in either the OHL or AHL depending on the wants/needs of the club that drafts him?
If so, there's the possibility that teams are hesitant to acquire him for what could be 3/4 of a season, with no guarantee he would be back with them the following season.
Thanks for the info. Appreciate you.Because he will be drafted after he has played in the CHL he is not eligible to play in the AHL. His only options are the NHL, OHL or Europe.
