What is honestly so terrible about Krawchuk? I don't follow the Wolves to know but why is he getting the short end of the stick in all this when his stats are better than Vondras (albeit he's played half as many games)?
Im still pretty new to the OHL, but imo Chucky was the best goalie on our roster last year. He played well in most of his games and was for sure better than Brassard going into the playoffs.

Regardless of how well he played in the regular season, the Wolves put Brassard in net in the playoffs and we got swept :)

I guess he hasn't been consistent enough to be the guy moving forward, though I suspect he will win the starting job when Vondras leaves for the CWJs.

is there a possibility that Vondras is unhappy in Sudbury or the acclimation to Sudbury just didn’t get take as expected and this has lead to a decline in play? This is just a random thought and have no information on that at all.

I feel like he’s underachieving currently and has way more to offer

2 3rds for a mediocre goalie who might not even be better then either of the two we have. I hope I'm wrong but it certainly seems like Papineau got taken to the cleaners, especially compared to the other deals Niagara has made this year where every other team has robbed them.

Maybe this makes more sense if they've been given word that Vondras is going to the WJC.

Doesn't make sense to give away 2 3rds for a rental goalie that'll play or heck just backstop Krawchuk for a couple weeks...why not just call up someone from minors to backstop Krawchuk?

From what I understand, Vondras will be absent for about 8 games or so for the WJC.

This new goalie will likely compete with Chucky for the starting position during that stretch and then.

Someone else also pointed out this goalie can play as an OA next year if things work out.

If I were a GM picking between the two I'd take Vandenberg.
That said Flores has had some pretty brilliant outings on a pretty bad team over the last couple seasons. I think Vandenberg is more consistant.

Chucky won't see many games imo

I would be SHOCKED if Vondras makes it to WJ , I would keep him till trade window opens after Christmas then decide whether to move him to open up a Euro spot. Target another higher end goalie like Gaudreau, we know what he is capable of in a short series. It would then make sense to go all in. We witnessed Wed how a goalie can win a game. Make those moves and we could then be off quicker than a prom dress. The way I see it.

Vondras is already confirmed to be leaving;

"With Jakub going to the World Juniors on Sunday we have 8 games over that break, and we really felt a need to add depth in goal for what we are looking to accomplish this season.”"

Goaltending pipeline for the future shrinks even more. Really a shame, he looked incredible in camp.

My understanding is that Vondras is the third goalie for his team at the WJC. So he won't get many games in while away. Given that this is going to be the third card spent on goaltending, I don't see them spending another, so we'll be going with 2 of Vondras, Vandenberg, and Krawchuk the rest of the way.

Wolves did great getting this kid. Get a decent defense in front of him and your in for a ride. He is a good one. Wouldn't doubt he is your number one in the end.
thanks, team needed to address goaltending, Vondras started off well, and has been struggling. Krawchuk is not ready to carry the team, Wolves addressed it got Vandenberg, Wolves Defensive Zone has to be better, it hasn't been good lately, because no goalie will solve the issue. Time to focus 5 man unit in Dzone and help these goalies out.

I said this last year. Goal tending has never been the issue. They jumped the gun with Ranger and never addressed the problem. The defence is and always has been the issue. The players they have on the back end are not the players you win with. Papineau has proved that point since he’s pretty much been here. They do not have the players to take a run at anything.

This f***ing team cannot stop getting game misconducts. How on earth can you possibly take this many.

I would not want to be accused of being negative. But that's definitely not a penalty you'd see out of a teach coached to have literally any discipline.
