How was Will Bishop this year in Saginaw? I was surprised to see him playing in the top 6 D in the memorial cup. Must have improved a lot since last season.
The wolves gave up on him. Best way to put it. I remember RP saying talll smooth skating defender et etc. Made the team in year two. Played with the P. K's then traded. Also incident on ice where Mania showed him up to the coaches. Wasn't cool . Change of scenery helped.

Just saying he is just not ‘the guy’.
Good player, good young man that could fit on a team with a leadership group in place; sure.
I would say the big 3 (combined) were too big for the team, and there was not enough character in the room to change the environment. The adults could have chosen Anania over Goyette as captain, but I think the bigger issue is the big 3 placed a bigger priority on big numbers than team success.
Nobody was saving that dressing room. The fact you’re criticizing McCoy for not doing exactly that is laughable… come on now. McCoy is a fantastic kid and an excellent leader on a championship squad in Peterborough. Sudbury is lucky to have him.

I criticized McCoy for showing he was defeated. That is not a trait of a leader. He is a good player, no trouble, just not ‘the guy’.

Maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough to McCoy defeated but unless your Dion Pheneuf nobody could come in and in one half season fix the entitlement and disrespectful approach that some players had displayed for years. It should have never gotten this bad, but it did. Coming to a contender I can see McCoy being excited, so when he knew he alone couldn’t change the inappropriate behaviour he may have shown signs of defeat. Regardless he and other so called leaders gotta be the drivers of changing the culture. I hope the Wolves rid themselves of tails that are wagging the dog. McCoy is the type of player we need to show the way. Pharand/Villie/Delic/DeAngelis gotta shut down the negativity and entitlement.

He showed enough leadership qualities to be named the Petes captain and had the respect of his teammates. From what I understand, based on the season end interview with Rob Wilson on YourTV, Peterborough had not planned on trading him. They were going to keep him to be the leader on the team and to mentor the young players. They made the decision to trade him because of the offer they got for him. If there is a concern his leadership in Sudbury it is an issue with the Wolves and the leadership they had in place, not Donovan’s leadership skills.

Context.
McCoy was talked about here as needed, at least until the deadline to lead the way to a changed environment, even captain the wolves.
I did not say McCoy failed to single-handedly fix the wolves. I simply said he is not the guy to lead the wolves. He appeared defeated and dejected a month after arriving. Maybe he wilted under the pressure he put on himself to be the guy, Idk. He is just not the guy that will be front and centre of an effort to change the wolves.
I hope he gets a do-over in a place he wants to be, maybe Kingston.

It is not easy for a player who is new to a team to come him and change a negative culture on a team. The team already had their leadership in place and a new team member’s input is not always welcome. With a change in coaching in Sudbury and some if not all of last year’s leadership group gone and the fact that McCoy is no longer new to the team he could come back this season and become the leader the team needs given his track record in Peterborough leading a young team.

How does McCoy look “ defeated “? Comes in at trade deadline and was supposed to change everything? I bet if the team had done better during playoff run you would say different. It’s the job of the coaches to keep control of team. Defeated lmao that’s a good one.

No, I don't think he was supposed to change everything. I actually think too much change in-season was a problem.

Mania to be traded. Announcement pending.
Agree that someone has to shut down the negativity. Nick and Kocha have the players respect as does Pharand. Pharand perhaps not assertive enough. Villy no. Too undisciplined off-ice and not a role model for the younger guys. Papineau talks a lot about bringing in players with character. Well then why not give leadership roles to guys who don't drink, don't do drugs, don't complain, don't break curfew, help their teammates out at all hours and don't discuss, and always show up early. There are a small handful from which to choose. Papineau doesn't walk the talk. His choice of who are given leadership roles is in some cases contractual obligations made to entice those players to Sudbury. The favouritism and lack of consequences was the single biggest reason for the team's lack of discipline and disrespect towards the coaches.
Anyhow, stay tuned. Mania going.

With collins and mania traded , I would think DeAngelis to run the pp, with blonda taking the 2nd pp. Sends mania and konyen closer to home

Two seconds, mostly 2027 picks, wolves also included the rights to Colosimo

Dak's parents are from Sudbury, so atleast they'll sell a few extra season tickets and jerseys.

Woah

Accurate or not,Are you allowed to be leaking trades before they are officially announced?
If some of us know it means the info has already spread. It typically comes from the affected players themselves. A bunch of Flint Firebirds players were discussing the trade this morning at a rink in Toronto for example.
