With Goyette, Holmes, Collins, Musty, DeGrazzia, McCallum, Villineuve and Robinson not playing Friday night….who is in and who is out on opening night?? Your the GM, what are you doing???
Here’s my wild guess. They are all in the lineup come opening night if they are available. Hate Mccallum all you want folks. He’s playing top 6 minutes unless he gets traded. Which I agree, is not too far fetched. Goyette line stays together(top line) , A mix of Degrazzia, Mccallum, Larmand, Musty for your second line, Assadorian, Derbidge, Walton Third line. Villineuve, and mix in who you want for wingers fourth line. That’s my guess

Goyette Delic Konyen

DeGrazia Assadourian Musty

Boudreau Pharand Derbridge

Larmond villeneuve Walton

Scratch

McCallum

This is what I would do if everyone was available. I just hope they let them build some chemistry instead of shuffling lines every night like last year.
I’m not sure of the defensive pairings.

Derbidge has been playing with Walton. They'll probably keep them together.

With the pre-season coming to an end, the wolves claim the only award that matters. Penalty minute leaders of the pre-season. Kudos to Duncanson, Wolves also managed to claim the only team that got a pre-season suspension, as far as I can see.

I absolutely agree .Complete lack of discipline since Duncanson took over. How can this team create momentum and continuity with the lines, when they are constantly killing off penalties. He has to be accountable for this, and begin to change it, or hand over the reins to someone who can .Papineau is also responsible for the team's abysmal penalty record. Another area of concern is the amount of time that players stay on the ice. Many shifts are way to long and leave the team at a disadvantage when the opponents have fresh legs over the boards. Management needs to fix these areas if we have any hope of having a winning record this year

Ughh. Why is McCallum still with this team..
We all knew this would happen. He was wearing a cage and that usually means your not signed to the A card. So he will have the chance to get called up like Hoover last season. Same goes with Protz and Bruce me Walton.

Delic Goyette Konyen
Assordorian Musty Boudreau
Derbidge Pharand Walton
Larmond Villeneuve McCallum
Mauro Hollingsworth

This is how I see our forwards panning out.

Musty I see getting every chance imaginable to up his draft stock and what better way to do that than sticking him on a flank with fellow playmakers like Goyette and Assadourian.

Delic and Konyen seem to play well together and Derbidge in the preseason has shown a knack for scoring

Pharand,Degrazia and Walton could prove to be atop 3rd line in the league

I see McCallum hanging around on the 4th line up until Villeneuve is back from injury. Definitely a pre-deadline trade though. And Boudreau and Larmond bring some toughness to a decent 4th line

Musty Goyette Assadourian

Derbidge Delic Konyen

K.Walton Pharand Degrazia

Boudreau Villeneuve/McCallum Larmond

Extras: Hollingsworth Mauro

Trade/Release: McCallum

I would think releasong would be the last option. He does have some value, he's been on the league a few years (knows the league) ,and was a former 1st round pick. What they could do is send him hope to await a trade. I guess it will all playout with his production etc

Ya I added a litle more to my original post. Either way I think they hold onto him until Villeneuve returns from injury.

hed be a good pick up for a rebuilding team like the soo or kingston, conditional on performance.

I agree with them trying to push musty as much as possible as they did last year with the first line and Assadourian has been playing good so hopefully they can get some chemistry going, as for the second line yes i agree Derbidge has been playing very well but putting Degrazia on the 3rd line after coming 2nd in goals last year would be a huge slap in the face so i doubt they will do that, also him and Pharand didn't work too well together last year it seemed, excited to see how Villeneuve will work his way up this year and hopefully this coach can find lines that work and stick to them rather than changing them every game like last year.

I have absolutely no confidence in our coaching staff to make the right lineup decisions. I don't understand the love affair with McCallum, Larmand and Boudreau. These guys, based on performance alone, would be on the 4th line on most teams in the league. Instead, they get played major PP, PK minutes.

The lineups should be -

Delic - Goyette - Konyen
Musty - Assadourian - Degrazia
Derbidge - Villeneuve - Pharand
Larmond - Walton - Boudreau

You cannot tinker with the top line from last year. They had great chemistry are only going to get better this year. You have to have Musty play on a line with 2 players that can get him the puck and are excellent skaters that backtrack. The 3rd line has so much potential. I believe Villeneuve and Walton may be interchangeable depending on who is playing better.

This is my take

Defense:

Mania who can be aggressive rushing the puck with reliable back-end guy in Collins makes sense to me. I think Mania will surprise some the way he climbs the draft boards

Anania I've always seen as an offensivly gifted dman who moves well and I think he pairs well with the big guy in Robinson.

Holmes and Toure excites me a bit. Physical pairing. I think that as good as Toure has looked in preseason that the regular season game speed will actually require a big adjusment on his part. Holmes will help with that adjustment.

Mania Collins
Anania Robinson
Holmes Toure

Extra: Protz (Hopefully) Bishop (most likely)

Just a point to the mixing of lines. I do think there is merit to mixing lines. Perhaps not as often as we have seen, but its a very good method to ensure the players are following the script. Certainly when the chemistry is there its hard to rationalize. But, you see it often when any team is down and the coach is trying to spark a team. So, its important that the players are 'interchangeable' in your system - but not at the risk of losing the chemistry that may be there. Too much, and it can also frustrate the players ( or even the fans! ;) ).
What's the happy balance?
