Was this the goal where Hoover lost his man and was standing near 0 of the others teams offensive players when it was scored? I'm pretty sure it was.
I saw this play also and felt it was the other way around...Mania had his guy tied up and Hoover got lost back on the play. Mania had a choice to keep his guy tied up or come off his guy to challenge the puck...Mania made the right play IMO. Unless we're talking about totally different occasions. The play I saw Mania said something to Hoover first and Hoover spoke back (likely with an excuse of sort)
That last game was terrible for Hoover (again IMO). However I do like the battle he brought in the later half of last season.
My only resulting thought on the trade is ...who is going to be #7 now...because that's where I had Hoover sitting.
Hoover is way way better than Bishop and I'm pretty sure the plan for C.Walton is Espanola. Our Depth on the blueline takes a fairly big hit with this trade. Especially if Bishop get playing time out of it.

I attended 6 or 7 games last year and really liked the potential of the young kids on this team.

I was at the Barrie game this week and am very concerned with the lack of discipline of our players. If our coaching staff doesn't reign in some of these guys, it's going to be a very tough year. Especially since we don't have the goalie we had last year to keep us in games when badly outshot.

The sad thing is that it's the same usual characters that are causing harm. I am not able to understand why the same individuals continue to get the ice time they get. I have no time for players like McCallum or Musty or even Mania at times. Same bad attitude and always discipline issues that puts the team in a bad situation.

The good news is that we have players like Goyette, Delic & Konyen up front that are going be a formidable 1st line again this year. We also have veteran defenders like Holmes and Collins to lead the way on D to teach the new kids on D this year.

I was so surprised at how good Pharand and especially Assadourian played last game. Both players were working hard and creating chances. I actually think with his skating and compete level, Assadourian has the potential to be a top line C in this league. I also think Pharand has all the tools to be a dominant power forward. Musty and Mania are very good players as well, but lazy and undiciplined penalties will be the downfall of this team.

Coaching has to be better to address these issues.
Delic-Goyette-Konyen will be a middling 1st line this season, and a formidable if not one of the top 1st lines next season. The 2nd lines of Barrie, NB, Miss, Niagara, Petes might all be as good or better than the wolves top line right now.

I didn't see any lazy penalties out of Musty in that game...He took 2 seperate minors. The 1st was tripping I believe , but it was a play in which he was engaged with the puck carrier and it looked like the Barrie player actually tripped on his own player who was cutting in behind the play. The 2nd penaly was a batted puck out of the air with his stick that carried over the boards for DOG penalty.
As a matter of fact I thought Musty actually brought a defensive element to his game that i didn't really see much of last season. IMO of course

Thought Mania had a good game as well but his D partner (Hoover) did not have a good game at all.

To be honest didn't see how the break down that caused goal but both Mania and Hoover were going at it after the goal. Wonder if this help make Papineau decision easier to move him, if there is some kind of conflict. However, I'm just speculating.

Musty is probably a top 3 overall player for the wolves this season, imo. I don’t understand the nitpicking by some of a 17 yr old entering his 2nd season.
Wolves fans love nitpicking our first overall picks, it's practically a second career for some folks.

Little disappointed about the Hoover trade, but I trust that there was a reason with the goal of making the club better.

I thought he showed very well last season and brought an element of toughness & physicality that we didn't have. With that being said, the game I watched on Tuesday he was noticeably very bad (worst game I've seen from him). At the time I thought it could have been a conditioning issue as I heard he missed time during training camp with an injury (collision with Villeneuve?) - he was getting beaten wide and outmuscled in ways that weren't happening when I watched him last season.

After showing a lot of promise last season I worry that they gave up on him too soon after a slow start this pre-season. Just a fan's opinion though.

Big games from Ranger & Derbidge

Great FA pickup in Toure - I'm seeing some good stuff from him, though he is a year 4 aged player

Impressed by Kieron Walton these first 2 games I've seen. He's so tall though for someone so young and will be very dangerous once he grows through that. His brother's got potential too - he's a bit of a project who could use some seasoning in Espanola for next year.

Di Giantommaso has caught my eye & playing good hockey.

Last year I wondered whether I could see Assadourian in more than a 3rd line energy role on this team in the future - he's changing my mind very quickly this pre-season. Big improvement from him since last year.

K.W. will be a stud.1st round NHL pick potential.
Saw Derbridge two weeks ago in Peterborough looked good then too. Good skater, good size and can finish.

I was at the game, good solid win, night and day from Tuesday game. I feel McCallum not being in lineup really helps this team. There was great flow from all the lines, and don't have to be hindered with the antics and disruptions all game from him.

Kieran Walton is a stud, his play at centre, his effort every shift and hockey IQ has to make him 2nd Line centre on this team in my opinion, he creates so much out there. The chemistry with Derbidge and Pharand all game gave problems to the Soo Team, Pharand got robbed a couple of times point blank shots.

Mania by far best game I have ever seen him play, he was flying on both ends of the game, you could see that he has an extra gear, and really helped in recovering and breaking up plays tonight.

Ranger nice shutout, battled all game, and I found D played much better in front of him. Protz very smart with the puck and seem comfortable out there. Bishop gets alot of heat on here, I don't mind him at all, he reminds of another #5 Wolves had few years back in Mike Wilson. His size and frame reminds me of Mike Wilson.

I thought Soo Goalie played well especially early game made some big stops. Really had to score high quality shot like Assadourian to beat him. Derbidge coming along well to strong power forward with good skills and skating.

Great effort by the Wolves.

Would love to see Protz on this team over Bishop, don't think it'll happen sadly. Good game all around though.

Bishop has to be the softest 6'5" I've ever seen, hopefully he can figure it out as the season goes.

16 year old LD Protz didn’t look out of place tonight. Low panic threshold in his own end under pressure. Also steps up on a Hound for a BIG hit! Like him LOTS…
Good assessment. Still needs some time but definitely going to be a good one.

Assadourian and Derbidge going to have very good seasons.

Ranger two shut outs in pre season now with a young d-core. Will be solid

K.Walton unreal player. Hope Villeneuve comes back soon so he can feel the league like Walton is. 2 studs here though. Hage would be great but I think its a long shot.

Lines from my point of view for the season.

Musty DeGrazia Boudreau
Assadourian Pharand Larmand
Delic Goyette Konyen
Derbidge Villeneuve K.Walton

Mauro - spare
McCallum- trade
DiGiantommaso- spare
Hollingsworth- release

Holmes Collins
Anania Mania
Robinson Toure

Bishop-spare
Protz-call up
C.Walton- call up
Bruce- call up

Of course getting any of the imports and or Hage makes it very interesting to see who goes.

Wilson could carry the puck had an offensive side to him. Bishop has a good shot but man does he get punished lots.

yes, I think people forget Bishop is a rookie, will need to develop with that gain more confidence. I think he can skate, size, decent skills.

No space for McCallum on this team.. I expect he'll be flipped for a pick soon

The Wolves top 12 forwards and top 6 Dmen are pretty cut and dry now

Goyette 3rd line what?

He’s hands down your best player. Seems to be the only one not affected by the Sudbury curse

Wolves aren't going anywhere... glad it was clarified:

Zulich, who owns the Sudbury Wolves and the Sudbury Five, made an innuendo-laden statement last Friday before the hockey game. But this week, he clarified and said his commitment to Greater Sudbury is unwavering.

“Regarding a new arena, let me be equally as clear. As the owner of the Sudbury Wolves, I want the players, the fans and all the people of Sudbury to enjoy our brand of hockey in a new events centre, not a refurbished arena,” he said. “The location of that new facility within Sudbury, be it in the east end, downtown or even South End, is not my decision to make. It is a decision of council.”
Yeah well you should have heard our fearless owner tonight. Might have had too much to drink tonight (he can’t hold it for shit) because he was walking by saying “King city is not that far“ Made a real ass clown of himself if you ask me. Sounded like a like a kid I in a sandbox that can’t get his toys. Totally classless completely lost my respect. save that BS for city council not for your best fans. That’s walking on the fighting side of me and I unceremoniously told him what he could do with hImself. Yeah King city, the junior hockey hotbed. Man what a hilarious idiot.

Regarding the game yeah some great signs. Walton looked great Toure looks like a Darnell Nurse type and and Debridge looks like he really put on some muscle, he looked much improved too. Sure happy to see my boy Ranger play an excellent game. He looks to me like the kind of golie who when he’s on he’s on and he was on tonight, good for him, and in turn the Wolves. Little unsure after Tuesday, sure enough it was a one off.
well let the season begin we better enjoy it in case we end up in King city in a few years. Man that pissed me off

How does it feel for wolves fan for the billion times you play the hounds this season you’ll be beating them on a regular basis for once

Soo has a very good team missing alot of players yesterday. Exhibition games mean little, let's see what they can do regular season.
