Not sure where you are coming from on this....most will tell you thar Mark McKelvie is among the best in the league at pxp...myself included....gives props to visiting team..fills in for other Rogers broadcaster in other city's because of his reputation...must disagree with your take
Did you hear them last night!!! Awful pronouncing of names all night long. Sorry they just weren't good. Maybe last night was a one off. And I'm surely not saying our home crew is any better. But you are able to disagree all you want. Just thought the Guelph crew was more polished.

WJ

Very tough. Hoping for two at least of our top 3 players back Friday. As it looks now might not even have 1. Stay tuned....
Yikes!

WJ

In the past two weeks Hamilton beat the Petes, Battalion, & [‘67s twice (3 in a row)].
Isn't that Panwar something else. Now has 18n points in 11 games since the trade to Hamilton. What a deal! Petes never knew what they had.

Very proud of our boys for fighting hard and earning the point. We have way too many injuries, but we're finding ways to compete.

I'm also happy to see some of the younger kids contributing.

I notice Coughlan didn't see much of the third was playing well, I wonder what happened there.
After the goal he assisted on when skating by the Guelph bench he taunted them. That doesn't go well with DM and he sat the bench the rest. It obviously motivated Guelph to comeback as seen. There was like 10-12 minutes left in the game when he did it. Love his compete level however you just don't do that on the road. You want to lull the opponent to sleep not wake up the sleeping giant. He will learn from it.

yeah little bit of a loose cannon, he had a strong game to that point. I still thought Guelph was in this game at 4-1 they kept on coming they didn't pull the chute. I would have like to see Toure on the ice in the last minute before Robinson. I hope Krawchuk gets a regular rotation, keeps both goalies fresh.

Confused to Dylan Robinson not getting a start. Thought he was one of Guelph's best players on the ice. Just standing around, allowing offense to happen around him on three straight goals.

I think at this point the Wolves need to realize Krawchuk is the better goaltender and should be played as such.

Exactly. Playing well for three quarters of the game doesn’t count if you can’t seal the deal. I’m very worried that if we get into the playoffs (which we should) our goaltending will be our undoing.
Very gutsy effort but for heavens sake man you blow a three goal lead in the third. Hard to be happy right at the moment but they’re doing what I said they needed to do which was keep their heads above water. As if Hamilton beat Peterborough this afternoon. Loading up? Ya right. Don’t see them going anywhere. Two dog race for me. North Bay and Ottawa.

Ya don’t forget the last line of defence that didn’t shut things down and come up big when it counted.
The defence on the team let the wolves down, not Bradsard. It is not a goalies job to steal a win, it’s a goalies job to keep his team in the game so the 5 guys in front of him have the opportunity to win it. Can’t blame the goalie because he didn’t bail out the mistakes made by a defence crew out of position. Watch the reply of this game and start putting the blame on where it belongs.

Yes it is. Also where is this “chatter“ coming from. Heard nothing of the sort. Vancouver is a tire fire right now. I doubt Dereck will want to leave just as the team he’s developing has a chance to make some noise but that too is just my opinion. Does anyone know what his contract is?
This team is 16th overall with this defence, you expect this team to have a “shot” at winning next year with the same core of players and defence? Throw in the reality that the wolves have no idea about goaltending. That’s a huge pill to swallow.

I highly doubt we’re speaking with the same people. Also, why would a NHL coach, stay in the OHL if offered a coaching job in the NHL. Kind of like an OHL player electing to stay in the OHL instead of taking a spot on an NHL team. Really? Come on.

Guess I’m electing more optimistic than you.

A lot can change between now and next deadline. That’s the idea. You address what you see as shortcomings. The Wolves have tightened up nicely defensively. A little optimism that whatever shortcomings we have could be addressed would be nice. Let’s hope the Wolves have some gas left. Literally playing without their three best players.

He’s got a ways to go. Let him prove he can be successful in the O. Of course there is the element of wishful thinking at play. Would hate to lose him so so
Optimism does’t win games. No offence meant. Not sure about you, but there is no reason for a player at 18 years old to run out of gas. I know a couple ex athletes on this post and I’m pretty sure they will tell you the same thing. If a person can compete in an iron man race swimming 3 miles, biking 100 miles, and then run a 26 mile marathon, an 18 year old can play 60 minutes of hockey in a weekend if they average 20 minutes of ice a game. The running out of gas line is pretty much just an excuse. You don’t train for 3 periods, you train for 5 or 6. If teams are out of gas, they’re out of shape or the team is playing with a short bench too often. Just my opinion.

The iron man race is equal for all participants. The OHL schedule is not always equal for all teams in any given week.

Larmand in overtime was on the wrong side of the play which allowed the Guelph player to break in alone with Pharand trying to skate across ice to angle him off. On that OT winner there was three mistakes. Mania going into the boards with the puck. He won't win the puck battle. Larmand as I mentioned. And then Brassard not taking the angle away from the player coming down and also not putting his paddle down covering the low part of the ice which I thought was about all the Guelph player could do is slide it in between the pads.

McCallum on the tying goal was fooling around with the puck just outside the line instead of chipping it down the ice. Why hold onto the puck so long in the last minute of the game when they are pressing. Last night in the last minute vs OwenSound he didn't make a smart play on the 6 on 3 by taking a bad shot that misses and goes out along the boards on the other side. Some guys are getting too much ice time and its affecting there thinking in the late stages. Very costly....

As for Robinson who IMO came back to the team and has played much better. However again losing Anania the last two games really exposed our lack of depth on the backend. Chormiak, Bishop are still not ready to take a lot of icetime. Mania needs to have the depth to play his game or else also gets exposed defensively. But yes Robinson was standing around a lot in the slot today. Got burned on the 2nd Guelph goal.

So yes lots of blame to go around if we want to nip pick however 3 of 6 points is good. I think we deserved at least 5 this weekend.

As for the officiating its been so inconsistent all season. The slew foot call last night to no slew foot call was the most bizarre thing. The player used his leverage and lifted Larmand with his knee behind the back of his leg to pull him down. Tonight the North bay game Wakely was called for a holding but they reviewed it for a possible slew foot but he still gets two when they determined there was no slew foot. Mind boggling!!! So confused because the Owen Sound player got nothing. This league is ruining itself with these iPads. Slows the game down. Why bother have two refs out there now then. Its just so ridiculous.

As for the upcoming week the Wolves need to get some bodies back. Hope Anania returns, Musty as well. Goyette I feel the league will throw the book at. Delic we know is out long term. But with Oshawa winning a lot lately and only two points back with a game on hand. Hamilton, Kingston and Mississauga looking really good I'm not convinced with us being short for any length of time securing a playoff spot. Would be really disappointing. The schedule is getting tough this week.

The point of that is reference to fitness. But, you’re entitled to your opinion.
You used a race where all participants are on an equal playing field as reference. The OHL schedule week to week is not equal for all teams; see the record of home teams on Sunday hosting a team in its third game of the week over as many years as you wish.

That overtime goal is hard to stop, especially with a player coming across the crease that way. He had to follow the play and open up to move. If Brassard didn’t do that, the guy would of scored anyway, if he put his stick down, Brassard leaves the top of the net open. 50/50 on a play like that.

The reffing evens out game for game. Not much you can do about it except play. The injury problem is unfortunate, but the Wolves can still score. The problem is the defence and the more the wolves try that stretch pass the more it exposes this defence for what it is, mediocre at best. There are a whole bunch of small problems with this team that aren’t being addressed, The goalies weren’t/ aren’t really the issue. If any of the posters have Steva Hockey Pro, put any loss on the screen and run it. Very revealing.

As it stands right now, this defence is not a championship team defence. Not even close.

Sound a lot like Chicken Little. The sky is not falling. We now know how to play solid D and we can score, now we gotta learn to properly finish and stay disciplined. Not everything happens at once unfortunately, teams evolve by learning thru mistakes. We get healthy and we take 5 or six points this weekend.

Do the wolves know how to play solid D? The wolves are next to last in GA in the conference, and just lost a game in which they had a 3 goal lead with half a period to go.

I understand giving up a 3 goal lead with 1ins left is bad and would lead you to think that our TEAM D is bad; however,I ask you now to look at the past 15 games or so and look hard at the numbers. Shots against/game is way down (25 or less). PK has been a lot better as well. Mistakes happens and sometimes one mistake leads to many more. But there has been massive improvement over a decent sample size. Lots of excuses can and have been made over yesterday’s loss but bottom line we are not winning every game we play: although that is the goal. Things will get better….

Wolf, look at the shot graphic vs goals scored. The shot count has been reduced by seven shots on average. But they are NOT the quality shots. The goals are being scored from the same spots on the ice that goals were scored on against Ranger and Krawchuck. But interestingly, the odd man rushes have not been reduced. The front of the net is a whole other issue. There are still way to many odd man situations in front of the Wolves net. Very little boxing out players.

The forwards can score, but anything north of the border is a train wreck.
