Anyone else find it odd that Savard was not given a Game Misconduct for an Abuse of an official. Like all game he was losing his biscuits at the refs and was allowed to remain in the game. If that was a Wolves player my goodness not sure what would have happened. We toss a foam puck in the stands and its a two game suspension.

Moving on does anyone think that our GM will pick up another import by the deadline. Maybe Dionicio from Niagara would be an intriguing piece. And possibly one of their forwards like Michaud. Provide us with added depth and size up front. Not earth shattering moves but something to keep us in a playoff spot and competitive.

To Niagara,

Assadourain
Anania
Morrow
4th round pick

To Sudbury,

Dionicio
Michaud
Rosenzweig

Thoughts???

Ranger no doubt has lost his composure from the start of the year. Not sure if he will regain it at this point in the season. But he is our goalie the rest of the season. Let's hope he finds his confidence soon and shows us fans he was the correct choice that Papineau made. There is really nothing the Wolves can do at this point. We won't deal for another tender IMO.

WJ
Play Krawchuck then. I think he’ll be twice the goalie. The kid had a sub 2.00 average over 38 games man. I don’t care what league it was, that’s remarkable.

I see Anania going to a pretender like Windsor or Kitchener in the West, stay away from the East. I think if we want another tender we trade again in West with Guelph or Erie.

They can keep Rosenzweig. If Papineau wants to upgrade go all in, he’s another mediocre goalie.

I think Rosenzweig is a downgrade over both our current keepers. Michaud is not good enough to be an OA next year.

I do absolutely love Dioncio, but I think he'd be traded for more than the entire package you're offering here. Also being an import, I don't see Sudbury moving for him as they'll likely have another high import pick this summer.

With Sale committing to Barrie (apparently) Devorsky’s agent should recognize that the CHL is the best development option and ride the high wave from the WJC right into the OHL/Wolves and join other Euros like Mesar….

It's a tough position Papineau put himself into. You have an upcoming goalie that looks to have a good skillset, and needs to play. Then you have a supposed number 1 whos not. So you now IMO need another goalie which would push aside chuk. Don't think Anybody would want Ranger.

Then you have to coach feelings. Ranger having to sit more. How will that play out.

I’d start Chucky Friday/Sunday and Ranger against Bulldogs. Chucky needs to keep playing until he shows he doesn’t deserve the crease. He fricking best NB last night…what else does he need to do? Healthy competition, is the way you coach feelings. Win and your in!!

Ranger hasn't worked out. Fix the problem Papineau. Get creative. Zero excuses
It been a struggle for Cup of Joe, but he is a pro-kid and he’ll turn it around. Chucky has a great mentor. When we slam our tenders I hope we look at our total D Zone play that lead to scoring chances. We need to always commit to D Side of puck and play solid, tough and simple in our own zone. Always must have back pressure and keep it simple. On a lot of goals lately are coming from open looks with an open player in our house… we have improved but again today not so clean..

Don’t look now, but the Wolves are back into a playoff position one point up on the Gennies and now five behind Missy, who continue to spiral, with two games in hand. Things looking up in Wolves land at the dawn of the new year.

While I agree with most of what you said there is a guy named Weekes last year who stole games with essentially the same D in front of him making the same mistakes. He has to be able to adjust during the game after letting in a bad one and shut the door. Picking up the trailers also need to be the responsibility of the forward too many times we are peeling off and starting to move up ice rather than staying with their man. That is the open looks you are referring to.

As I have said before Ranger never worked as a number #1 goalie ever! He shared the net on strong defensive Missy teams. Of course the Wolves are not a strong defensively as those teams. Papineau and his scouting staff I’m sure believed he could be a guy that would steal games and relish the opportunity to play as a number one guy in a city where he has a lot of connection with. Has it worked out? It was early but recently he has struggled. Not all blame on him but he surely isn’t performing as expected and I’m sure that’s the same feeling as the Wolves management may have.

With everyone here thinking the Wolves should trade for a goaltender. I’m not sure there is anyone they can find that will make us better by much unless of course you want a Brochu, Gaudreau or the kid out of North Bay. Those deals would never happen. So maybe a fringe guy who has some experience to challenge him more and have Krawchuk play Junior A in Espo. That’s why I suggested a guy like Rosensweig or someone like him. It won’t cost a lot. Just a thought.

He can't play in espo. Gaulton is there and needs the work. Coming off knee surgery. Due back Jan/ Feb

Can’t argue about Weeks

If you’re not going to bring in an experienced goalie why even think of a fringe guy instead of trying what was suggested and seeing what Krawchuck can do over several games? Establish a meritocracy. Earn the crease, you win you play until you don’t.
It’s not like it’s impossible to fathom the notion that a rookie goaltender can win some games, especially with such a spectacular goals against. I’ve been watching a long time and it wouldn’t be the first time A rookie goalie has taken the ball and run with it.

Fat chance, I think. Rosenzweig is very likely moved for a decent offer. The other two are probably part of the Ice Dogs top ten next season.

Not to say the goaltending has been great but what this team needs more than anything is a defenseman who can actually play defense and shut people down or at least prevent about 4-5 grade A chances a game. That would make our goalies look a lot better. Hard to blame the goalies when there are way too many open chances in the slot and far too many short handed breakaways against plus too many of our defensemen get beat consistently one on one. Get some one who can do those things consistently and the team wins a lot more

Not arguing about the defensive shortcomings but as mentioned that’s why you need stellar goaltending. Great goaltending makes up for a lot of mistakes. The last line of defence. Not sure you watched the game but the goal the Soo scored right after the Wolves went up by two is a prime example of a soft goal through the wickets that could have lost the game. Even the goal after the player went in and threw it over Ranger‘s shoulder while he was almost crouched inside the net. No, defensive issues aside, I still think finding consistent, stellar goaltending is job 1. Without a foundation you’re sunk.

Don't forget the 4th soo goal. You can't make this stuff up.

A bit costly for now?
Hopefully Collins gets there.

Wolves were the better team yesterday, no question. But far from a clean game. Both goalies probably wanted a couple back. But far from a clean game even aside from goaltending. Glancing at the standings and again at your roster construction, I would be surprised if you brought in any rentals this season. To me you probably want to stand pat, squeak into playoffs and get a round for the experience for next year's team. No? Why throw away resources on a season where there is no real chance to contend?

What is going on with Chromiak have they stoped trying to develop him? His ice has all but been taken away. Don’t understand, looks like Robinson is getting his ice time, don’t imagine he is too happy.

Did #3 Touré injury a hand or something during the fight with Arnsby last Wednesday? Just curious since he challenged all Battalion players but backed down when Zito was ready and willing on Friday after Touré delivered a cheap shot on our #12.

cheap shot like Lukin? Toure is at his max in fighting will get a suspension if get's a next one. Don't worry yourself about it.
