Wolves worked hard and never gave up I have to give it to them. In the end having to kill more than 12 straight minutes in penalties did them in when they are already short bodies. The match penalty was a stretch as Frasca was already airborne before any foot got in behind him.

Would like to see more out of Pharand. He has been a non factor recently. Not sure why he has lost a step in his game. But he is having a really quiet second half to the season.

can't afford more suspensions, looks like were going down that path.

Brassard had his best game as a Wolf, speciality teams were the difference.
Not to take anything away from K.Bressard but we really needed to bear down early on all this grade A scoring chances that Thornton stopped. We score on one or two of those different game. Goyette 0-2 on break aways…on those grade A we are missing net either high or wide. Gotta bury…Gotta live up to our name…Sud-bury!

I think our goalie situation, both goalies have a hard time playing a heavy workload at this time. Maybe alternating keeps them fresh, or a 2 to 1 ratio. Brassard played well tonight, nice to see. Goyette short handed goal was a beauty, like to see him more on the PK.

Funny Goyette actually scored on a breakaway on the PK and made a pass to Musty for a goal on another breakaway lol Kid is amazing for us but people seem to expect more and I don’t get it. That first line is not the problem as far as I’m concerned. Brassard was amazing tonight.

Is Boudreau working towards an OA spot for next year? He has been a different player under DM. Fearless, reliable, great on PK and honest effort every game
If we run with our own OA’s next year. This would be my order,

1. McCallum
2. Toure
3. Anania

4. Boudreau could hang onto him for a bit and see how he performs then make the decision between him and one of the D.
5. Larmand

I agree with Anania. He has been solid for us all year. Plays a hard game and chips in with offence. I like his game. But would be ok if we use an OA spot for a stud goalie if need be

Not complaint about the first line or Goyette, just saying he also missed two other real aways…that entire line is special!

I agree on the OA stud goalie, but only if we can’t find a younger 18-19 year old stud goalie. Also, no arguments on Anania for an OA spot next year.

Games against London and Barrie they had good scoring chance’s outplayed London and got great goaltending from Brassard against Barrie, unfortunately no points but a great sign going into the playoffs. North bay or Barrie unless Pp improves could be an early exit.

Alex Assadourian in his last 10 games with Niagara has 1 goal 3 assists and a stellar -21. Yikes
Comparable to,

Assadourian 29 games 8 goals 18 assists and a -24 (14 of his points have been on the PP and he plays on the top two lines. Thus getting next to double the ice time the two who took his spot on the 4th line in Sudbury.

I'd do that trade today. tomorrow and yesterday.

Coughlan 27 games 6 goals 2 assists and a plus 2
Yearwood 25 games 2 goals 11 assists and a plus 9

I believe Coughlan is an 05 like AA…Yearwood an 04. Two very nice additions who bring a style of play we so badly lacked. Furthermore, added to our forward depth which is almost non-existent. Speaking of depth, do we see Protz or Bruce to fill in for D. Rob should he be suspended??

The forward group for next year will remain pretty much intact with the subtraction of DeGrazia, Larmand and possibly Boudreau. I can see the Wolves adding Dvorsky, DiGiantomasso and a draft pick. So the forward lines should look like this to start. I think adding another solid piece on the left side will do wonders. Someone like Ludwinski from Kingston to play along side Dvorsky. That essentially makes Boudreau expendable along with another player.

On the backend some construction will need to be addressed before going into the year. We have too many young players after the top 4 which I believe isn't the strongest to make a run. We need a solid left shooting d-man that can QB the PP and play solid minutes. Sova from Erie would be a guy the Wolves should try to deal for. With Protz, Bruce, Walton, Chromiak and Bishop plus a 1st or 2nd round pick and the returning guys in Toure and Anania someone will need to be moved. The third pairing needs to be mixed with some solid experience. I don't see Bishop sticking but to bring in a minute eating dman we still need to move out someone or have them as an affiliate in Espo.

In net we should start the year with Gaulton and Krawchuck. Wolves need to see what they can do with these two young stars. I still think the Wolves can draft a solid net minder with one of their top three picks. Wolves have some capital to deal with in players and picks to start the year with a pretty solid team. They cannot afford to wait it out. They need to have a season where they come out of the gate strong and as a candidate to be a top team in the East. That way they become a suitable destination for any possible November and deadline deals.

Musty Delic Goyette
Villeneuve Dvorksky McCallum
Walton Pharand Konyen
Yearwood Couglan DiGiantomasso
Mauro Bourdreau OA? draft pick 1st or 2nd rd.

ADD in Ludwinski

Musty Delic Goyette

Yearwood Coughlan DiGiantomasso

Konyen and Mauro as extras along with a high pick. Konyen may need to be moved.

Isn’t Gaulton 6’3? I saw on Insta that he made his first start back last night, but they have him listed at 5’10 on the site?

I see Konyen next year potentially being in a similar position to Assadourian this year - may be the odd man out. I'm not sure I've seen much progression in his game this year compared to last - though he has been better as of recent. He has goal scoring ability and good hockey sense but really lacks in physical strength and speed. With that being said, if they're going to move him, they should at least wait to see what he looks like in camp in September - if he gets stronger either through training or getting older then he could turn into a very important piece. I saw him as a potential break out candidate coming into this season for this reason.

I am really surprised not more is being said about the way the Wolves melted down in the third with one undisciplined penalty after another, including of course another match penalty and upcoming suspension.
Looked like Barrie was just laughing at how easy it is to get the Wolves to lose their heads. No way the Wolves will be able to intimidate them. As soon as the game got really physical, the Wolves just couldn’t stay on the right side of the line and if that happens in the playoffs, they’ll lose in less than four.
Why are some not holding McKenzie more accountable In terms of instilling discipline? We literally lost that game by coming apart with penalties in the third. I’m sorry, but if that’s not your take away from this game I’m not sure what you were watching.
I’ve never seen a more self-defeating team, ( well except maybe for other Wolves teams) in my life. Maybe a late season goal could be to go into the playoffs with less than three players suspended. Seven penalties to one in the third period in a close game. Real winning formula. One positive, best game for Brassard.

What more needs to be said. It cost them. The major was bogus it was a good solid check. 5 on 5 the Wolves generated most of the chances and play imo. But missing bodies was catching up to them in this game and the way the Wolves were pressing some penalties start to emerge. Mind you the refs missed a couple on Barrie in the third if you really watched the game. In fact they ran over Brassard twice which was quite intentional and should of been an ejection. No different than LARMAND. Wolves just don’t get the calls.
