Going to try and get a little more sleep on the train which is full of dejected Celtics fans.

The funeral home now has John which we don't really understand how since nobody signed anything but we have no problem with that.

We are thinking of having the visitation and services early next week as John would never have wanted to cause a conflict with Bruins and BU home games and the hockey gods have created a good window for that.

BU's final regular season home game is Friday night and our hope is there will be an announcement but instead of a moment of silence ask the crowd to shout 'Go BU'.

Sue asked me to suggest the best funeral home and I focused on this.

John worked for Joe DeNucci for decades and they handled his arrangments 6 years ago.

The other plus is Cafe Martin is 148 feet away.

Cafe Martin is owned by the widow of John Martin who was a NESN cameraman for 20 years who lost his battle with ALS 4 years ago. It just seems like the perfect spot to go to after the visitation.

He was like a brother to me, spent many Thanksvings and Christmas Eve's together.

He loved the game of hockey at all levels and he religiously attended the World Juniors in North America, the Memorial Cup in Canada and the Frozen Four even when it was in Anaheim. I don't think he ever recovered from BU losing to Providence in the 2015 final.

Sue of course is worried about finances going forward and I told her not to worry. John had a program and ticket stub from every game he ever attended and each is in a ziplock bag. He was not a happy camper when digital tickets were invented.

I live literally right across the street from the restaurant. It’s a great place. And Magni funeral home does a first class job the few I’ve gone there for. Great family. I’m so sorry for your loss and your travel problems.

That's my adolescent neighborhood and I still have friends who live there and I'm there a lot. Magni will do a wonderful job - deeply rooted there for many, many years.

Deepest condolences for your loss.

@GlenFeatherstone Thanks

I'm just going with my gut. Nonantum is in my roots as well and I know that a funeral home that has been there for decades will make it right.

We want this not to be a somber occasion but a celebration of his life.

I'm not complaining, but we barely have a coating.

Wild that this is what merits snow emergencies and school closings. I understand better safe than sorry and all that, but this one appears to be a pretty big misforecast.

Even if the storm ended up being a whole lot of nothing, kids still deserved a snow day. They are magical.

Made everything much easier for my mom when my dad passed.

The beneficiaries are key. I’ve seen what happens when someone forgets to update theirs. It’s awful.

Oh hell to the yes on this.

Life insurance proceeds by law go to the beneficiary listed on the application & unless you change it as circumstances change there is nothing the insurance company can do when you die but cut the check to the beneficiary even if you don't want them to get the money anymore. As @Alicat posted, it is awful when this happens.

We got enough here to plow, first time all winter this has happened. Heavy, wet stuff which I hate,.

Thank God an angel (I suspect my nephew who is staying with his mom this week) shoveled off the entries and cleaned off our vehicles so now we don't have to do it.

I'm turning 40 this year. I have big plans.

- Turn 40 on the beach in Antigua
- Talk to a financial planner
- Set up a will

Really exciting shit.

What are you leaving me? Cardboard Varitek? Your Bruins ornaments? The super secret version of your French Toast recipe, the one I assume you refuse to share because it has a secret ingredient?

Fun story about that cardboard Varitek...

Probably 10 - 15 years ago, my mom called me on Christmas Eve and asked if she could bring a date over for Christmas Eve. I was PSYCHED thinking she had been seeing someone. She shows up with a damn life-size cardboard cutout of Jason Varitek.

You can have the Bruins ornaments, I guess.
