I don't think it's a universal trait that all goalies adapt, but definitely have seen some goalies who absolutely despise deking. The best goalie I ever played with (in terms of in game performance) would utterly refuse to engage if you attempted a deke in any practice drill, just pretended you didn't exist if you didn't shoot by the hashmarks.
Haha, I get it for the first couple drills, but if it’s really „any practice drill“, that’s wild. Unnecessarily limited practice going on if there’s a 2-on-1 drill with the defender taking the pass away and the puck carrier is forced to shoot because a goalie’s dislike for dekes.

1st time I've heard Valiquette's name since he was in the League

and I don't even remember when the hell he was even in the League

enjoy your 15 secs of Insta-fame
To be fair, it's easy for someone like Valiquette to misuse a term like Instagram Hockey, given that he was already out of the league before Instagram launched, at the ripe old age of 32.

I'm sure Shesterkin appreciates the rapid defense from the guy who kept the bench warm for Lundqvist.

What does that change?

At a minimum, grown men shouldn’t have emotional outbursts at something as petty as someone trying a fancy move during a hockey game.

It’s one thing for an actually immature adolescent to be unable to handle themselves in that moment. It’s different when it’s a 30 year old man who’s mentally undeveloped.

haha I was thinking you would say that.

To which I say, some humans hit a maturity wall when they are 16 and it carries them over till they die.
I don't buy into the "you're not a child, be more mature" mantra, some people are just f***ing stupid.

How far has this world fallen, when a man tries a deke on a breakaway rather than take a shot from in between the circles like a repectable human being? And not one of those new-fangled slap shots; keep your stick low and conservative, like a gentleman. What if you actually scored on one of these moves? Imagine the poor, embarrassed goalie! No one should ever try to score, so as to be considerate of the goalie's feelings.

I agree with Valiquette here. Those kinds of moves don't belong in the game. Hughes didn't look like he was trying to help his team win there, instead just looking to beat the Rags goalie with a slow and weak move that would have been an embarrassing goal to give up. However, what's actually embarrassing is players trying to use the NHL to promote their Instagram accounts and possibly get influence benefits like sponsorships.
Someone translate this from Alien to Human please.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter. It's not show boating. It's not lack of respect. NYR are currently playing like a bad team that nobody is threaten by. That's the real issue.

They quickly went up 2-0. The game wasn't even close to slipping for them. Go have your fun. Clearly the Rangers didn't care or fight back so Valiquette should let it go.

And I don't mean threaten like my dad will beat your dad up...

Oh Steven, even after we just listened and reminded of the Joe Thornton quote no less than a few days ago about Hertl going between the legs for the 4th goal of the game

  pay more attention to what

Valiquette's career?
I took your advice and see he had a whopping NHL career of 46GP over 11 years
at least it reminded me what Decade he played in
Thanks I feel more rounded now as a hockey fan
You're welcome. But we're obviously talking about retirement since that's what you posted about. "Since he was in the league."

You really don't pay attention.

I can’t disagree with any of that.

I would add, IMO there’s a lot of talk about how sports help kids mature with strong role models, but the actual reality of a lot of programs is that it puts them in a weird cultural bubble where they don’t actually get the same responsibilities and rites of passage as non-athletes. Guys who play elite hockey from age 4 to 20 sometimes seem to have developed in an alternate reality when it comes to social norms. It happens in some other contexts as well, like military and the performing arts, where people are in such a bubble that they miss a whole phase of social maturity. We end up with people who don’t even realize how inappropriate they’re behaving, thinking everyone else must be on the same page. In hockey it often seems to crop up around (among other things) this inflated sense of honor and pride over stupid, petty things. Which ironically leads to disgraceful behavior.

Hate to break it to you but:
NYC is not the Center Of The Hockey Universe

not paying attention to other teams' Color Analysts (is that what he is?) is not the dig you may think it is
