The 2020 4th rounder only comes in to play if FOLEY does NOT sign with the Blues by 2019. He would have been a FA with the Jets and with our winger depth likely would have looked elsewhere IMO. This trade is basically a late 2018 1st rounder for Stasny. I like it

No, he would not have been a FA. He would have had to play out his senior year and then wait till summer 2019. Jets would have signed him this spring if he wasn't traded. Good player, good prospect, have to give to get.

Anyway. Stastny makes us a better team. No doubt about it. And the price was in line with other assets. Can't complain about the price.

He wasn't a player that would have or be expected to step in right away. Nothing is 100% guaranteed but there really shouldn't have been the panic and angst that was seen before with prospects such as Poolman.

He's a good prospect, borderline really good. St. Louis got a player, as I have mentioned I have liked him from before the draft and he's a good committed kid.
