I just started the Mantis when I saved to go to bed last night... right after my dad finally gave me the big poker winnings that I'd been waiting for which actually turned out to be a pretty nice ship instead of credits like I was thinking it was going to be for some reason. It's the reason I took that trait. Looks like I'll have 2 new ships now. I had almost just bought a new ship but I saw the Warhammer available to buy on Neon but I needed another 50,000 credits to buy it so I was waiting to buy that. Things worked out perfectly.

I missed the secret outpost notes on the original mission you were supposed to get them. I think I got the notes on an outpost wandering around on the planet doing the scanner thing looking for the anomalies. They should randomly appear throughout so you find them somewhere eventually.

The Ryujin Industries questline feels like it was made just for me. I invested heavy into lockpicking and stealth and it came in so clutch. It's really helping me understand the story by reading all the information on the computers. I'm interested to find out who -S. is because they've come up on three different planets computers.

I highly recommend the Crimson Fleet side quest. When you finish it you are giving the Revanant gun which absolutely shreds enemies, especially if you modify it abit.

If you have have your ballistics maxed nothing stands a chance.

I feel gaslit by these reviewers who loved previous Bethesda games giving this one a mediocre score. This is their best rpg since Oblivion. Yes, better than Skyrim (even though I like the Elder Scrolls setting better).

I agree, I was giving it some thought and I think Oblivion is the only BGS game I like more so far (haven't played Morrowind or anything they released prior).

Makes sense.

I've been trying to stick to just 3-4 guns. If I find a better version of a gun type I'm using, I'll sell or just drop the old one unless it's really valuable.

I pick up all ammo because it has no weight.

I was picking up all the medical / food stuff, but it seems useless. Medkits, Heart+, Amp seem enough for now. The rest is just clutter that I will never realistically use.

Crafting stuff? Eh, I was picking up most of it, then realized a bunch of it was heavy, and kinda stopped. Again, I rarely spend much time crafting in games unless the crafting is really fun or essential (like survival games).

I just ignore all the misc stuff that has no purpose other than selling.

I'm a minimalist at heart :) Keeps me sane!

You need the medical stuff. Pick up any medical stuff you see, like bandages, injectors, etc.

Once you start exploring more planets you will come down with different medical afflictions that you will need specific treatments for to cure. In each type of medical item there is a little symbol of what it treats that will coordinate with the medical affliction. But you need to do more then match the symbols. If you look in the description of the medical item it will tell you exactly what it treats.

I’ve been hit with lung disease, different infections, poison, lacerations, etc. All of which needed different medical items.

If you are playing with a stealth build keep your eyes open for chameleon spacesuits and packs.

I just found my first of each yesterday. Total game changer!

I think Morrowind is by far their best game but also that they caught lightning in a bottle with it and will never repeat what made that game special. If Starfield comes out with great DLC it will surpass Oblivion for me, since Oblivion is heavily carried by the Shivering Isles imo.

Two things I have been begging BGS to do was make the dialogue system/speech skill better and to tone down or remove level scaling, and they did both here.

Good to know! Thanks!

I think I read somewhere that you can sleep off most if not all afflictions? Like 24 or 48 hours will clear it up?

How do you even get it? I tried stealing something at New Atlantis and they put me in jail a day.

I completely forgot that Bethesda games encourage you to loot every and any thing, but if you loot at the wrong place/time you end up in jail...lol

The gun you get at the completion of the Crimson Fleet side quest, the gun is sitting on the desk. Make sure to pick it up because I don’t think you can get it again.

If you are referring to the Crimson Fleet side quest you need to start the UC Vanguard side quest then after you do Grunt Work you will go to the UC ship and have to pick which side you want to do tasks with or play both sides. I figured being a pirate would yield better rewards and boy was I right.

I’m not sure. I haven’t tried sleeping to cure things. I could see that working on some of the stuff but I’m not sure it would work on some of the more serious stuff. Plus when they happen i have normally on some planet and not near a bed. Although I did sprain my ankle jumping in a city. Next time that happens I’ll try sleeping.

BTW, you don’t need to keep all medical stuff. Just things with “treats (fill in the blank)” in the description. Also, some items treat the same conditions so you don’t need to keep duplicates if you don’t want.

I maxed out my “weight lifting” skill pretty quickly to gain extra carrying capacity. Plus there are spacesuit and pack mods that allow you to add like 50 carrying capacity. So I think I’m currently at 275 capacity and I think that’s just with 1 mod to my suit or pack. I think I can still do at least one more (hopefully more!).

Another thing is I was exploring a planet once as like a level 3 and would absolutely get my shit kicked in by random level 20+ creatures haha.
If you haven't noticed, the level of each planet and star system is displayed next to its name.
Ok. I've been meaning to start doing the Vanguard mission but I GOT STUCK DOING ALL SIDE MISSIONS! On that note, in case someone is doing missions for Trevor whasthisname in Cydonia, the one which requires you to do a favor for a Peter something that involves doing a favor for the governor first, board his ship, don't destroy it at first. There's something in there that will make him pay you 12K credits. ;)
Thanks. I thought that I was done with Cydonia, but I hadn't finished that mission. I just completed it and was actually able to get 17K from him by choosing the bottom option, about paying extra, first.

I was just playing and saw what I hope is a bug. These UC Marines walked through Cydonia and then out through the airlock, into the Martian atmosphere, in nothing but their underwear.

This has to be the best mod for the game yet. It allows you to see more items and data in your inventory (including DPS and value/mass!), customize the columns and even sort by clicking on the column headers. It's a must have if you're on PC, especially if using a mouse.
773-1694139631-295418117.jpg

If you appreciate that mod, there's also this much simpler one for the mission screen that does nothing more than show more items, but is useful for someone like me who has dozens of open missions at once.

BTW, if you're GPU limited in the game, try capping your framerate in your AMD/Nvidia software just below the lowest that you get in the game (ex. if you usually get 63-75fps, cap it at 62). It'll keep your GPU load under 100% and even out your frametimes, making the game feel smoother. It's a trick that works with any game, but tends to be most useful when games are demanding like this. When the framerate is lower, having it stable becomes important. I believe that that's why the game is locked to 30fps on consoles, rather than allowed to fluctuate between 30 and 60.

Can you use mods if you’re playing through Gamepass for PC?

Yes, you can. You may have to copy them to a different folder than the default one given in some instructions, though. If they don't work, re-read the instructions and check the user comments.

@Mikeaveli I found a LUTs mod that seems even better than Neutral LUTs because it adds back some of the lost color. The difference is especially apparent on Mars, which didn't look very red with Neutral LUTs.

I've had the game stall in-between loading screens about five times now. There's no background picture on the screen, the loading animation in the corner still spins and the music still plays. Had to quit the game and reload it.

Everyone's pointing out there favorite quest lines and I've been doing the Vanguard one with the terrormorphs the most along with the main one.

I’ve had the game freeze and crash on me a few times now. It goes to a black screen then back to the Xbox Home Screen (playing on a series x).

Seems like some cities are harder for the series x to run than others. Like Akila City for ex. seems to cause some trouble at times, like momentary stuttering etc.

Question on the secret code quest.

The planet where the quest is on says level 30 and I’m level 9. Is it doable now or better to wait?

If you're talking about the Mantis quest, then you should be able to do it at 9 with a companion. I did it at 14 just fine.
