I don’t know if there is a tracked stat for that, but it “seems” like the Jets defence in general miss a lot of shots on net.
I think it has to do with trying to get the puck through towards the net . Teams are clogging shot lanes more than ever. Better to get it though wide and have a chance at a deflection or rebound than it getting blocked and having an odd man rush against. I don't see our d changing the puck angle much which isn't helping

I think it has to do with the delay of forwards getting to the net. We tend to be on the perimeter and then get it to the point and wait for the traffic but by then there’s that first forward already there.

He deserves to be played against better competition- sure don't play him much against McDavid but he should see more icetime against more normal top lines. Like I don't see any reason to shelter him against the Holander-Miller-Boeser line or the Habs lines, we need to see what we have in him and if he is capable of playing up the lineup. #FreeStanley

I feel a part of his game that is underrated is his passing, especially stretch passes.

A long stretch pass to a winger like Ehlers or KC during a change could lead to a few goals.

A couple of games ago he had a galaxy brain pass from the left side in his own zone, off the rights boards in the neutral zone on the stick of Scheifele (I think) near the offensive blue resulting in a break for the Jets. Not sure if that was intentional or an accident but if he has the iq to make a pass like that then look out.

Imagine trying to pick a fight with a 6'7" tree. There is so much potential left in him (mostly to grow into a bulldozer, since his defensive game is already pretty solid) that I really, really hope we find a way to not lose him. Seattle's analysts have to be all over him already.
They'd be nuts to let it happen. He really is the next Big Z

They are very slow in working in young talent. I see all that happening by the end of the season.

There is absolutely no way they're not going to protect him now. He has proven himself better than any other defenseman on the team other than Pionk or Morrissey. Demelo and Forbort do have their moments (Poolman and Boo Boo don't really have any moments anymore), but I'd let them go before Stanley.

As an ignorant fool I"ve notice this too, and my only point of reference is eanhl.

To me everything about him is like a little kid playing a giants game. When he skates it just looks funny, but I always pay attention to the people along side him. He looks slow and then the person beside him is clearly going all out.

I have no idea why they weren't developing him all season. If we do anything this playoffs it'll be reliant on defensive players going above their past. Most of the other D appear to have peaked out, he's the only one with a lot of untapped potential.

I love how so many people jumped on the Logan Stanley bandwagon this year. I made a comment about his development in the off-season and the possibility of him playing this year and got laughed at. Logan Stanley's improvement is the type of player you want. He was considered the most improved player in the OHL in his draft year and ended up being a reach at the time, however, he continued to work on his game and I still believe we haven't seen the tip of the iceberg with him. I am not saying he will win the Norris trophy but I don't think we have seen the ceiling of him.

Is it just me or does he look phenomenal for a rookie? Skating is pretty damn good for his size, gets pucks on net, makes great breakout passes, and is excellent in his own end. Time to get him more minutes!!

To be fair people took Garrett's info and spun it really poorly. Which is too bad because he wasn't really off on what he was predicting

Agree. @garret9 focused on the process, not the destiny of the pick. I agreed then, and I agree now. The only caveat is that it's quite possible that the scouting / drafting process was better than many of us portrayed, in that the Jets might have had much more insight into Stanley's work ethic, trajectory, physical attributes, etc.

What became somewhat toxic was a tendency to use the pick to create a caricature of Stanley and the Jets' scouting. Stanley clearly had attributes beyond being a huge lug. Even though there was plenty of evidence to the contrary, many used the Stanley pick to hammer repeatedly on the point that the Jets only looked at size in their drafting (Morrissey, Petan, Ehlers, Connor, Perfetti, Green, Heinola).

Also, I think there is too much of a tendency on this board and in social media to identify one or two later picks that turned out really well to critique a team's entire drafting strategy.

I even said he could be a number 4 defender in the NHL... before the Jets drafted him :'(

I still think the Jets (and the entire NHL for that matter) is highly inefficient draft market. I think there's a lot of room for improvement (and it is getting better league wide).

For example, what often gets ignored is my work on scoring didn't say defenders over 0.6 pts/gp are good and under 0.6 are bad.
What it did say is that:
1) Defenders who are under 0.6 tend to get drafted *a bit* too early and defenders who are over 0.6 tend to get drafted *a bit* too late.
2) Defenders who score under 0.6 that make it tend to bounce back the next season and score about as much as those who scored over the previous season (suggesting luck and/or usage held them back).
3) Probability isn't destiny and there's a large range of variation in possible outcomes even if you follow the right processes.
