For everyone saying the Conn Smythe shouldn't go to McDavid here's some context on how good his run was.

The cup winning team needed to play their actual starting goalie to beat the Oilers. In a normal year you can sweep them with a backup or win in 6 with your third string.

The fact that it took a starter AND seven games to beat the Oilers? That's the stuff of legends.

The Oilers can also run back basically the same team next season. Except Brown will have a 6 million cap hit. So Brown might even out play the Oilers generational depth 100 point #3C.

Dynasty stuff right there.

Agree with everything else bit this isn't true. He didn't come close to his standards or the expectations in game 6/7.
Did you see Florida swarming him? They defended him so well tonight.

He was also all over that 3rd period. Felt like every shift he had something was being created. Got absolutely robbed by Bobrovsky/Panthers D in close, set up multiple times Ekholm for wide open shots, just missed the redirect in front from Bouchard.

He wasn't god-like tonight and that is arguably why Florida won, but Florida deserves credit for that, too.

It's still a team sport, he didn't get his team to the finish line. Don't care how good he was, give it to one of the winners, somebody deserved it.

I get the logic and I usually agree. Occasionally you have exceptions and this year was one of them. I just don't know who you give it to on Florida. Bob was a massive reason why Florida won but also a reason why the Oilers came back. McDavid was 2-3 levels above Chucky and Barkov. They didn't have Symthe level runs IMO.

People saying McDavid doesn't deserve the Conn Smythe because he lost.

Use that same logic for the Hart Trophy. Can it only be a trophy given to the President's Trophy winning team because they were the best during the regular season?

Come on, now. The guy had 1 less point than Barkov and Tkachuk COMBINED and broke a Wayne Gretzky record nobody ever thought would be broken.

He did all he could tonight, too. Yeah, held off the scoresheet by a great Panthers defensive performance but that doesn't take away from his playoff run.

He is the rightful winner.
Hart Trophy is for regular season BS. It has nothing to do with of you were on the best team etc. Hart trophy is playoffs MVP, it needs to go to someone in the winning team. No one gives a shit about a player in the losing team. You either win or you lose. McDavid and his team lost, he doesn't deserve MVP of the playoffs his team lost.

I did but it's McDavid. Why wouldn't he be getting swarmed. He needed to finish a chance. Had a few mistakes and stretches where he was invisible.

If you going to be Gretzky 2.0 like some were acting it's fair to be disappointed by the performance tonight after game 6. I like everybody else was projecting a career defining game.

No, you are wrong. Like straight up just wrong lol.

Nowhere does it say "MVP of the playoffs for the winning team."

The right player won Conn Smythe and I would hope it was unanimous.

I don't disagree, but I think Florida played as perfect a defensive game as possible. They were phenomenal tonight.

Well obviously he does deserve it, Chet. He literally just won it.

Is it me, or when the Avs won The Cup on ESPN in 2022 did they get about a third of this coverage after the game?

Feels like I had to tune into Altitude and Twitter to see much.
Maybe ESPN. I feel like Sportsnet was equal coverage.

The "most valuable" player should be one who makes a difference in delivering victory when everything is on the line, not for running up stats in Round 1 against the LA Kings.
He led all players in scoring this series, too
