SSM Greyhounds 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

For me, we are at a B- currently. There are minor things to nit-pick at with both deals, but overall each of the 2 deals made were good. To get up to an A- for me, Raftis needs to move another player.

I don't mind the Lalonde deal. The second half of the season might be rough, and if we are stuck between Miller and Tegelaar as options we might end up destroying the confidence of one or both. Lalonde is a fine stopgap this year. Plus, without getting Lalonde back in return, I doubt there was a deal to be made for Schenkel. This way is definitely better than keeping Schenkel.

There is no rush to get Tegelaar into OHL games. Let our prospects continue to develop at a lower level where they will get the Lion's share of the games. We don't even know for sure that Tegelaar is going to be the backup. Let them continue to develop and then next training camp make that decision.

Current deadline rating is C- for myself

I don’t like the Lalonde deal. I don’t like Lalonde coming back and I don’t like that it likely caps the idea that the Soo will sign Noah Tegelaar. Has nothing to do with the picks.

I also don’t like that we haven’t gotten a single 2025 draft pick in a draft that I feel Raftis NEEDS to hit a home run in.

i'm in that range as well. so far it's a C.

gibby deal was ok, we got a solid prospect and some picks as hoped.

shenkel deal was a little disappointing. happy we got a 3rd but the rest is "Meh".

we were either unsuccessful or didn't try to trade allard... somewhat understandable considering he's an oft-injured OA..

but with Carlisle, Clouthier, Mignosa, Nordh all still here I feel like things are unfinished.

i'm with HP, this deadline is 1 deal short of being called a success. we'll see what happens today but i'm not feeling confident.

I don't know what the future market for OA forwards is going to be, but if this deadline is any indication, I would very much consider moving one of Clouthier or Mignossa for a solid return this deadline as opposed to hoping they have any real value next season.

Just waiting for the last minute London Knights acquisition :
luchanko ? musty ? pinelli ? misa ?

Won't need to move them next year. Going to be a go for it year next year softly. Not huge contenders and big buyers at the deadline but will maybe look like Erie this year who didnt do anything and decided to run with what they got. Mignosa and Cloutier pretty dead set on being OAs next year and a 3rd OA will be needed to be picked up in the offseason most likely a Defenseman.

A go for it year when your 19 year old forwards are Hilton, Vader and Brown doesn’t sound like a great option to me. Just my opinion.

True that is definitely a weakness but they do have a solid 07 group. Will be better than their ages would indicate. I think Miller in net will be a huge factor. I would expect next year's team to finish better than this years.

If it's a go for it year next year. We better hope telegaar comes here or we trade for george lol. We aren't winning anything will Miller as our starter imo

I don't think next year is anything close to a go for it year. We will not have assets to add players for 2 separate runs and a core of 18 year olds isn't a realistic contender. I anticipate we make the playoffs next year but that's about as high as I'd set the bar. It will be nice to see what the kids can do down the stretch and which vets sets the tone.
