agree, even though hounds scored 18 goals in 2 games on the weekend.
Surely, that isn't sustainable. Not to be a downer but they did give up
8 in 2 games as well. Defensive zone coverage does need some work

Charlie came in and cleaned up though. Hounds are ALWAYS a step behind developing goalies. If we're serious here we need another goalie. Hounds can't give Miller the time to develop in a year we want to win. It's not what I want but may be the logical thing to unload Miller and land another established goalie and run a tandem, or just try to take Dom ans Nelson from North Bay and call it a day.

I said it before and will say it again. 1 goalie, 1 defensively intelligent dman, and another top 6 F away from being unstoppable. ( MAYBE a depth forward for cheap or free lol )

Give Miller a bit of runway before writing him off lol. The team is 2-0, so far he has not hurt the bottom line.

How did the two new players look Saturday night in their first start (Brodie and Vader)?

Im not the biggest Brodie fan as of now but will let him grow. Vader plays big haha.

I'm not saying Miller isn't going to pan out, I just would hate to go " all in " and have Charlie get hurt in the playoffs.( Cant say its unlikey, as it happened last year). I don't see Miller being better than Charlie at any point this season, just me.

Miller should have seen 20 games last year at minimum. This isn't the year to develop him if they're looking at contending. I'm not down to lose games at the cost of his development this year.

Goaltending is the Greyhounds weakest point and eventually that weak point will break.

I'm sure London didn't want to trade Bowen either..

So far he has started 1 game and they won that game. If they can do that for half his starts there is no urgency to go get another goalie. Revisit this if they are losing all his starts or if the deadline is approaching.

Miller did not win that game.

The win went to Charlie.

The team played totally different in front of Charlie also. Noticeably. Game would have went different if they didn't pull Miller.

Do that for half his starts? He let in 4 goals on 13 shots and got pulled and Charlie saved the day. I don't want this happening again let alone half the starts LOL.

The Soo
that was a great start to the season! i'm not ready to throwaway my predictions for the season after 2 games but the team is clearly hungry and looking to prove guys like me wrong.

Pros:
-high offensive output from throughout the lineup
-Karki jumped straight into offensive output
-strong start in game 1
-come from behind in game 2
-travis hayes!!!

Cons:
-in spite of our strong offense, and limiting chances, Schenkel let in a few real softies. it didn't cost us this time
-Miller got chased in game 2
-the sample size is still small but we need better goaltending over the long haul
-Karki seems like a bit of a wildcard defensively (did anybody else notice the brain fart turnovers?)

it's too early to say our goal issues are solved or that our goaltending can't handle the load. for now i'll just enjoy the ride and where we stand will come into focus as we roll into december

It can't happen like that for every start obviously; Schenkel needs to rest. But how about the team actually starting on time?

Point is it didn't hurt them. They got the W. You yourself just said he didn't get to develop last year. As long as it isn't hurting them, give him the runway. Kneejerk reactions after one start aren't helpful.

Oh man, I am gonna start calling you LDN because all you want to do is add every big fish out there.

This team has played 2 games. They have won 2 games. Lots of hockey left but no reason to go out and blow up the roster. Yet.

Keep it coming OHL. Matter of fact, take us off the ranking completely!!!!!! We don't need it!

If there's is one thing you can say about me it's that I've been saying what the direction of this years time will be ALL off season.

Lol

although we haven't agreed on a lot of things here, we can definitely agree on this one. do i think Miller will be a good goalie? Maybe. what i've seen so far though is not enough to warrant waiting. not in a go for it year. the good thing is he was a high draft pick so he should fetch an alright return from somebody who can wait for him to develop. He's let in a number of weak goals each time i've seen him play. Or like you said, add him to a package for Nelson and Dom. not sure we'd have enough left for another impact forward though if we do that. ideally we snag an experienced backup, a top tier defenceman and a top tier forward.

the only problem is the best players are going to want to play for saginaw to be guaranteed a spot in the Mem cup. so we may have to get creative.

haha pops i'm usually in that same boat as you.

but in a year where we already spent a 2nd and a 3rd on an OA....we kind of have to go all in now.

i've been preaching all last year and this summer about building around our younger core and i was really hoping we'd do that. but after that first trade, we are kind of handcuffed into going all in now. wasn't my first choice, but after stopping at thompson a couple of years ago, i'd rather they go all in.

Will they? Time will tell. Lots of picks in Saginaw to play with but no bodies.

What does a package for Dom and or Ty Nelson looking like for Saginaw?

Would having Landon Miller in the package immediately turn heads to SSM. Goalie prospect for a goalie. Does Christopher Brown change the game? Established OHL player who can play and score. Former 1st round pick last year. It's exciting for me when I start looking at everything.

I agree Saginaw has a TON of picks but where they lack is in the bodies to ship out and where they may get outbid on players too

Also the same can be said for players leaving Saginaw...why would you want to leave the Menorial Cup team? Will Aiden Young agree to being moved? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

At the end of the day, any big move that we discuss likely doesn't happen until deadline, so there will be time to judge.

After DiiVincentis, the Battalion have ‘06 & ‘05 goalies.
If Arnsby plays with the pros (and) Zito does not play at all (and) one team gets both DiiVincentis & Nelson …Beauchense & Topp

Do I believe Raftis will go all in? Yes.

Do I think we are committed to going all in because we acquired Beck? No way.

Do I think we need to sit back and see what this roster can do before making any more moves? 100%

Sure we aren't committed. But what an absolute waste of a 2nd and 3rd if we don't.

I think the Hounds are feeling a bit frustrated Saginaw won the cup bid and I wouldn't be surprised if we go all in this year just to make a point...we'll see how things shake up before Christmas

measuring stick. one way i look at contenders and non contenders this early is to
look at how many players on these OHL teams have NHL drafted players on there
current roster. Lets look at the WESTERN CONFERENCE .
LONDON ( 9) - 6 forwards & 3 D.
GUELPH ( 6) - 3 forwards & 3 D
SAGINAW ( 4 ) 3 forwards & 1 D
S.S.M. ( 5) - 2 forwards & 3 D
OWEN SOUND ( 4 ) 4 forwards - 0 D
KITCHENER ( 4 ) - 1 forward & 3 D
FLINT ( 4 ) - 3 forwards - 0 D & 1 Goalie
ERIE (3 ) - 2 forwards - 0 D & 1 Goalie
SARNIA ( 2 ) - 1 forward - 0 D & 1 Goalie
WINDSOR ( 1 ) 0 forwards & 1 D

So, analyzing the above ( since NHL scouts & teams do this for there life )
Looks like LONDON seems to be the team to beat .
Guelph also looks strong & Owen Sound also. So that division should be :
London, Guelph , Owen Sound as 1, 2, 3,
The Soo & Saginaw should fight it out for 1 & 2 in that division.
Of note : Mathew Poitras from guelph has a shot of making the Bruins as a 19 year old.
Unlikely , but he has played very well in the bruins camp and has a shot. He may get the
9 nhl games and the bruins brass will make a decision then. That will hurt guelph chance
big time if he sticks.
Easton Cowan ( London) is still with the Leafs, but unkikely he sticks with Toronto as well

Lineup changes from game 1 to game 2. Interesting they elected to play 11/7 with two forwards out dressing Brodie, instead of dressing Good. Not sure if Brown (day-to-day) will be back tomorrow.

Friday:
Jack Beck-Bryce McConnell-Barker-Justin Cloutier,
Jordan D'Intino-Owen Allard-Brenden Sirizzotti,
Marco Mignosa-Brady Martin-Travis Hayes,
Julian Fantino-Christopher Brown-Alex Kostov;

Arttu Karki-Kirill Kudryavtsev,
Caeden Carlisle-Andrew Gibson,
Connor Toms-Matthew Virgilio;

Charlie Schenkel; Landon Miller (Backup)

Saturday:
Jack Beck-Bryce McConnell-Barker-Justin Cloutier,
Brenden Sirizzotti-Owen Allard-Travis Hayes,
Marco Mignosa-Jordan D'Intino-Julian Fantino,
X-Tate Vader-Alex Kostov;

Arttu Karki-Kirill Kudryavtsev,
Caeden Carlisle-Andrew Gibson,
Connor Toms-Matthew Virgilio,
Brodie McConnell-Barker-X,

Landon Miller; Charlie Schenkel (Backup)

The Soo
What should Knights fans be aware of this early on when facing the Soo?

just to reiterate what others said...

we've got 18 goals in our first 2 games so they've been putting the puck in the net. flint/brantford was unable to expose mediocre goaltending (.882% for schenkel, .692% for miller).

it's too early imo to call goaltending our achilles heel but if it doesn't immediately improve it's going to show on our Win-Loss record for sure.
