i was only listening on 101.3 so admittedly had to rely on GL Jr. for my in-game experience so perhaps someone who watched can provide better insight.

strong possession game but perhaps some "finish" lacking. sitting here at work it sounded like we had a lot of opportunities at 5v5 and on our 5 powerplays that we didn't capitalize on.

nice to get back in the win column and even better to see schenkel get the goose egg!

Admittedly I was pooping on Schenkel after last weekend so a game like is good for him and the rest of the boys...now onto Kingston tomorrow

Thought Charlie made some solid saves. Also thought that virgilio had a really strong game. Seems to be gaining confidence. Clattenburg played on the right side of the line today and was really good.

I'd like to see toms sit a few to get the other 17 yearolds in the lineup.

For me it's Gavin Hayes. Everyone talks about Owen Beck, but I'd rather see us add Gavin Hayes down the line if we add. I think his size over Beck can't be ignored, he had more points than Beck, and the relationship with Travis. I'd rather the size of Hayes over Beck too and Hayes had more points than Beck last year on a Flint team. I also think it could cost us a lot more... if maybe Gavin decided he wanted to come to SSM to play with his brother.

Totally agree with Houndzfan that Toms should sit a few games and insert the 17 year olds in the lineup.

They just can't seem to find a trade partner eh? Lol

Owen Beck seems to be in 'La-La' land much like BMB....not being any sort of impactful players thus far..

Owen Beck has 3 points in 5 games

BMB has 7 points in 9 games.

Bryce might not be moving fast or making flashy plays but his game is evolving and like others, I've noticed his 2 way play improving and being more dependable in the defensive zone.

I don't blame anybody for not listening, but at some point we need to see what the younger guys can do. If they outplay him, then we need to either waive or cut our losses. If he was getting points and his defensive game was lacking, I'd have more patience. But 2 points in 9 games doesn't warrant the icetime.

I agree about Gavin Hayes as well.

As always, IMO

Gavin Hayes playoff performance last year doesn't exactly jump off the page does it? I may be alone in this thinking but that sets off some red flags for me. 2 points in 7 games as a forward is the kind of stat line we are looking to run Toms out of town for as defense no?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but what is the Martin injury and when is he expected back?

I only said let toms sit for a couple of games first and see what the younger guys can do before anything is decided. If it's the same, or more, then figure it out. If it's less, keep toms playing as is.

I'm not sure he would be included in a package for anyone at the deadline tho, more likely waived or traded for a lower pick.

And by no means am I picking on toms. Great kid but playing in your home town is tough. I think he would flourish in another centre is all.

I don't really have a take on Toms. He is on the bubble and the team will decide who gets bounced off the bubble. I'm more questioning if Gavin Hayes is enough of a game breaker to be considered a better addition than Beck whom some consider to be one of the "big fish" at the deadline.

Well, it depends on what you need doesn’t it? Gavin might look like a pwr F on paper but he barely is even by today’s standards. I don’t think he’s ever dropped the gloves. He’ll hit but not a ton and he ain’t crushing people. Last year’s playoff numbers are sonething to take note of but I wouldn’t trip too hard on them. He did ok in the 21-22 playoffs as a 17yo. He hasn’t lit the world on fire without Lombardi though this year. Beck? Well, you’re not gonna play him on the wing just like you ain’t putting Hayes at C. Beck is killer at the dot. One of the better defensive forwards. He’s not lighting it up right now either. They’re completely different players. You’d think people would consider what the team actually needs to further succeed.
