Hounds were a little on the small size upfront on the forward lines and did seem
to loose alot of battles at playoff time in past years. They have seemed to have drafted
bigger players in the past few years. ( clattenberg, martin, gibson, kostov, etc ) .
should help them come playoff time,
i think the landon hookey trade they made last year may hurt them ? Hookey had
good size and by all reports has improved his skating quite a bit.
Fantino playing 4th line, i am guessing hookey is playing important minutes for owen
sound this year.
Both Fantino and Hookey needed the change in scenery, argument could be made that Hookey would not have improved that much to garner anymore ice time or different line positioning than Fantino is this season, if Hookey would have even made the team....Fantino has come in clutch in a few of the goals he has scored so seems like it has been a win-win for us and OS.

I was actually unhappy last year with this trade. I thought hookey was coming along nicely and had improved both possession and skating drastically from the year before. Had some time on the top 2 lines and was doing really well. Was also a big body that protected the little guys.

Glad he has done well, just wish it was in a hounds uni lol.

I think i heard there might have been a personality conflict in the dressing room. Frrsh starts are usually good for all involved. Having other teams happy with Hounds players they acquire also carries value. I'm happy for Hookey and excited for our team.

I can't figure out these defensive pairings. It seems every defenseman has played with every other defenseman for a shift.

Collin MacKenzie's price just went way up for any team interested in trading for him. He won that game single handedly, great performance.

Loved Mayich and MacKenzie.

Stonehouse was a huge letdown. Showed very little skill, and even less agitator. He mixed it up a couple times at the end of the game, but I was very unimpressed overall.

D’Intino had a rough game, made a number of miscues and couldn’t seem to put anything together, ES or PP.

And not sure what’s up with BMB, looks uninspired and his shot is definitely not the same as last year.

Besides that, I think they played a great game, just overpasses way too much that negated some great scoring chances. Tonight should be a good game as they’ll be hungry to redeem themsleves.

I'd rather overpass than underpass. The pp looked great even the first two where we didn't score (with the exception of the remaining major penalty to Smyth after we scored at 5 on 3). Definitely snapping lots of passes around tape2tape.

I thought we carried the play, had more possession, territory, shots, chances. Bryce ripped a wrister in the second period that just missed wide.

Yes we lost, but we had loads of opportunity. The opportunity came from working hard and using skill. Hard to be too upset when we play a game like that.

Gardens in the Soo is notoriously terrible ice
I wouldn't know enough to tell from beer league, but I've been around OHL players and coaches an awful lot and have never heard anyone say that.

How did you form that opinion? I'm curious now.

Goal for tonight's game against Owen Sound: Play like we did against London and Ottawa and NO five-hole goals against!

I was NOT at the game last night but one fan who was there last night mentioned to me that he was not impressed by BMB's play. He was lazy, uninspired and played better last year than this. Maybe he is upset that his brother is always scratched.

I think that Toms and Fantino also have to pick it up. Someone their age must be an impact player in this league but they are far from it at this stage in the season.

I quite enjoyed watching the energy line of Clattenburg - Fantino - Kostov. At one point in the first period they went out and hit everything that moved. The whole crowd gave them applause when they finally came off the ice. If Fantino can go and give shifts like that every game, there is value there.

We really need Brady Martin back though. The third line centered by Brown is getting absolutely dominated out there. Martin will make a huge difference there.

Second consecutive game of completely dominating a contender and being out goaltendended. Schenkel needs to step up and match the other goaltender's intensity from time to time if we truly want to compete.

Crazy what having a goalie will do for a team....

In a year they want to win, you cannot be trying to develop your goalie to be #1, he needs to be #1 already.

We need a goalie

he’s not that good, problem is there really isn’t any goalies out there that are any better.
