Schenkel:
6th (GAA)
14th (save %)

Correct and the difference between save % between Charlie and Dom is 0.008%

Difference between Charlie and the number one goaltender for save % is 0.038%

He’s trending up as I mentioned and all we can ask for! Haha

Joey Costanzo leading the way in save percentage and has a 4.83 GAA… yikes haha 😬

Goalies are interesting.

Normally I would be very skeptical of trends or improvements in stats over a 10 game span. It's such a small sample size. One more bounce here or there throws everything off.

However, in the recent article interviewing Schenkel, he gives a lot of credit to Mark Visentin helping him fix his practice habits, treating every practice shot like a game situation.

I am a little more hopeful that this recent uptick is here to stay.

I'm happy with the consistency with anything. Outside of Collin MacKenzie playing out of his mind, we've only scored fewer than 3 goals on 3 occasions this year.

All he has to do is give up 3 goals or less and it's a nearly guaranteed win. This team doesn't require him to steal games or get shutouts. We're averaging nearly 5 goals per game over the last 12 and it's only going to improve if Raftis is to be believed.

This Friday/Saturday home game during the break is always one of the most attended games of the year.

What a frustrating game. Outshooting them, and arguably outplaying them, but the sloppiest I've seen them in weeks.

Miller looks solid tho.

The Soo
they're working hard but the missing skill was noticeable on the PP. let's hope they can squeak a few in this period.

A game like this was bound to happened. Maybe nerves from some players? Lines off? Oh well bounce back and get the Spirit tomorrow!

Rather have the 2 points in the east then west, to be fair

Haha goyette making the crying hands to the soo bench. Is he crying because he got left off the team Canada roster?

I don’t like Goyette at all and he isn’t a player I’d want on our team. There’s a reason he’s not there despite his talent haha

Sudbury will be tough to beat in a 7 game series unless we get some bigger, tougher players at the deadline. Too many years we couldn't finish a series to a less skilled, but bigger and rougher team.

Let's hope this isn't one of those years too

Am I reading this wrong; Sudbury is less skilled, but bigger and rougher than SSM?
Well, that ain’t right.

I can agree that the hounds have been overly reliant on players that fit their system. A one dimensional team will eventually meet and lose to a better built playoff roster that knows what is coming.

We beat this Sudbury team in the previous 2 matchups and got Goalie'd by Vandenberg tonight without 3 of our best 5 players.

Hat tIp to him and move on. I didn't see anything in that performance to be particularly concerned about. I think Sudbury is too slow and undisciplined to compete with our full roster over 7 games.

I think the original statement in this debate referred to the Wolves having no skill. I’m sure that’s why our underwear is knotted. It takes skill to have scored the most goals in the O thus far. SSM May play a better team game so far this season but let’s continue this debate after the deadline. Vandy stole us a game last night, that was obvious. Don’t forget we were also missing some talent last night. Yes we are bigger and perhaps tougher but trust me we have flaws. I like judging teams after Christmas….time will tell. Best of luck the rest of the way.

‘Goalies’; that is the same lame excuse used in every wolves loss so far this season.

You cannot use the broad word skill and any hounds player in the same sentence as Musty and Dvorsky

I didn't say anything about skill.

The goalie thing may have been brought up in Sudbury a lot, but it hasn't been mentioned much in the Soo since getting stonewalled by a dominant Collin MacKenzie a couple of times in the fall.

Vandenberg was a really nice acquisition and clearly stole the game last night, as mentioned above by Wolf on a Wire. That happens sometimes. It's not untrue or a lame excuse. It's just something that happens in hockey once in a while.
