And not a single Sabre took exception to the hit. Not a good look.
True, but they got a five minute major. Honestly that’s how Rod would have us handle it vs giving pp time back to them. Today’s NHL isn’t the same. Most versions of our team over the last 20 years wouldn’t have done a thing if it was one of us. This years version Id like to think would do something but I don’t make assumptions.

I haven't seen this years team hardly ever take exception to anything except KK on occasion...we don't even make them pay with physical play or hits. Just one year I'd love to see a physically engaged Canes team, those games are fun to watch around the league

I know I'm talking about a video games but on one of the last few NHL games (haven't played the last two) leading the calder race by a lot, hit the button to fight after a team mate got blown up. Absolutely demolished the guy, egged on the fans, and promptly went to the locker room cause I broke my hand and was out for 6 weeks. Lost the Calder by a few goals.

Just saying being overly physical takes its toll on the team that's hitting also.

If we want tougher guys may I suggest one Tim Conboy? Here is a photo of him inflicting hurt during a fight

I'm not sure who that Blues player is but I guarantee his nose turned into Rods nose afterwards.

Conboy was with us from 07-10. Two Blues wore 55 during that time: Christian Backman and Cam Janssen.

A quick Google search says this is probably the fight:

That also shows you how pictures can be misleading, because Conboy was flailing that fight and only landed the above shot at the last moment.

I know another fight involving the Canes where pain was inflicted.

But I don't think Boulerice has ever recovered from it

The very last thing I want is to get into politics but I’m watching this senators predators game and did they really only have the American anthem performed and not O Canada? Like maybe they just didn’t televise it but oh man that seems like a choice in the current climate

Probably "payback" for Ottawa booing during the Star-Spangled Banner last night vs Minnesota, same when Detroit was visiting Calgary and Vancouver.

According to Reddit, they performed the Canadian National Anthem, but it was booed. Apparently briefly, died out quickly, and apparently louder cheers when it ended.

So I'm assuming it just wasn't televised.

But hey, if this is what it takes to get them to stop doing the anthems before games, because frankly, it's a stupid thing to do anyway (especially when teams consist of a hodgepodge of nationalities), I'm all for it.

Counterpoint: my son and I enjoy singing ‘Oh Canada’ when we go to games against Canadian teams.

Oh, it’s a banger, for sure. And I think they make sense for the Olympics, or the 4 Nations, games like that. But to have the anthem before a game between two teams of the same nation?

It was started to show patriotism during World War 1&2, and actually began (in America) during a baseball game shortly after a bombing took place in the city that game was held in, and the government recently announced they’d begin drafting professional baseball players for the war effort. So, as you can imagine, the mood was rather dour during that game. The band played the Star Spangled Banner and lifted the spirits of the crowd.

Is that same feeling being replicated nowadays during the anthems? Or are they just something we do because its traditional and most people are just going through the motions?
