If the odds are; a cup of coffee:a cup of coffee for 365 days, I’ll take that bet

They may not but it would be extremely good for northern Ontario, and extremely marketable for the OH. I’d love it.

Kyle Raftis looking to be aggressive at deadline

If we say that both teams are top 3 seeds, there's probably about a 1 in 20 chance that they meet. The league certainly won't allow that to happen though.

I’m praying… in the season prediction thread I put SSM SUD final (semi joking cause I knew I’d be called a homer) and here we are discussing the possibility of it! Haha would be epic!

I thought Vandenburg played well, but we were far from being goalie'd.

Special teams were poor, particularly so when you consider how much Sudbury has struggled on them. Also, too many mistakes in our own zone. Sudbury's forecheck was part of it, but actually a lot of it was unforced, just poor communication, not being on the same page, and poor first pass execution. Once we got out of our zone with possession, we were much better through the neutral zone, and offensive zone, lots of offensive zone time. But not doing enough to get the puck to the net with traffic in front. Looking for the pretty play maybe.

Miller played well. Two goals against are off the rush where we had numbers but were just beat outside. Actually both looked almost identical. Other goals and chances against came off unforced errors in our own zone.

@HF92

I don't mind breaking up the second line by inserting D'Intino. They were very disjointed and not playing as a cohesive unit. At all.

It doesn't seem like that when you look at the final score, but the majority of the game was within a goal. Vandenberg made a bunch of sensational saves on guys in by themselves and we had at least 6 or 7 chances of that variety. The game changes if we make it 2-2 after any of those chances.

It's difficult to argue that we don't win the game 9 out of 10 times with a different goalie on a different night. Call that what you will, but it's absolutely true. Coach Dean was generally happy with the effort and so was I. We should see better results on special teams when Karki and Allard return.

Clattenburg is visibly getting under the skin of several Spirit players with some big hits and trash talking. He's going to draw a penalty in second. I love his game, we really need that in the bottom 6.

This first period is the blueprint for beating Saginaw. Stay out of the box, use our depth, and wait for mistakes. Parekh spon fed us a couple of nice ones, one of which was the goal. The lower half of their roster isn't very good and it shows.

If we go to the box then there's going to be problems. They have more talent than we do in the top 6 and it can't be stopped on the PP.

Refs nees to get control of Forgione or there will be some fights later. He can't be allowed to take two handed slashes to the backs of players well after the whistle. That's twice now.

Right on cue, Clattenburg just beat the shit out of Forgione. That's what he deserves for being extremely cowardly. There's no place for guys who play like him in the OHL.

One of my favourite moments of the year so far! Karma is a bitch haha.

Coach Dean was generally happy with the effort and so was I.

He was?

Dean said that, while he was happy with the way the Greyhounds played on the man advantage in the third period, “when you don’t provide a full sixty minutes and you give a team like that, who’s got offensive power, an opportunity to win a game, they did it.”

Dean also said that through the first two periods, “we didn’t make the GFL a tough place to play.”

We made far too many mistakes to win that game anywhere near 9/10 times. As I said both goalies played well. But the play of the Soo skaters was very disjointed with far too many errors. Poor special teams. Those were the reasons we lost. We may have owned the shot clock but both teams had chances.

I vehemently disagree with that, but I respect your opinion.

My mistake for not reading the quotes. Sometimes the feel of the full interview, which can be 5-10 minutes, isn't quite reflected in the snippets that you see in the paper.

Seriously? So now you are questioning the journalistic integrity of Brad and Peter in their choices of what they cut from the interview? Most would concede the point when faced with those quotes, but I guess you found a different direction to take.

The team played good enough to stay within arms reach but not good enough to win, they made a ton of mistake and once again… the only players who seems to be the same were untouchables, im not saying there is for sure a correlation, but there are some players 1) playing nervous and 2) getting icetime they don’t deserve..likely due to showcasing ( as we are head to head with two buyers ) or at least that’s what I feel comfortable chalking it up to haha

Game is the past now, move forward and grow!

Last time some of these guys play in the Soo tonight?

What the hell are you talking about? I'm proud to call them both friends. I just got a different vibe from the interview, that's all.

It's clear that you want this to be a pissing match about who is right, rather than a real substantive discussion.

Yes, the quote says that he was not happy with our performance in the first 2 periods. I'm sorry for not reading the story before giving my thoughts on his comments.

We were the better team by a considerable margin at even strength, but unfortunately there's more to the game than that. Oke outplayed Schenkel (who wasn't bad by any means) and our special teams sucked. The loss of Karki has been really glaring on the PP. We probably win this game and the one in Guelph if we have him.

To be fair Saginaw would be better offensively and defensively if thier WJC players were back as well. Like I said before in private messages they are December games missing players and neither team has made thier big deadline adds. I’d be more concerned if you have this problem a month from now
Agreed
