@Fischhaber

Not edited. It’s still on the website and text version. It was Beck.

Leaving the bench during an altercation is an automatic 10 game suspension in the NHL and they do enforce it every time.

We should certainly see Beck suspended for several games if it's shown that he did indeed leave the bench. Some Saginaw fans at the game said he didn't, but I don't know, so they may be correct.

ohl priority selection draft tonight.
rounds 1 thru 3.
any insight who the hounds will take with pick 18 in the first round ?

Leaving the bench early is a 2 game suspension in the ohl.
I doubt there will be one as even if he left the bench he didnt join the scrum that took place as far as the video shows.
Unless he got in a fight in the hallway leaving the ice or something i don't foresee anything coming suspension wise.

Hard to say. With all the commitments to the USHL/BCHL amongst first round rated players it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Couple Soo area players to keep and eye on tonight in Blonda and Rossetto who played in Pittsburgh this past season. Would be nice if Blonda slipped to the Soo at 18 but I don't think that will happen.

I don't have the rules that you do, but do they say that this automatic 2 game suspension is contingent on getting into a fight? It's not in the NHL. It's a blanket rule.

Nobody left the bench to join an altercation. There was minor pushing/jawing that you can see in the game feed and then the refs push the Soo players back across the redline and then the Spirit team came on the ice to congratulate the goalie the same way every team does it all season. The teams were still jawing at each other and when the Spirit players came to center ice to do the normal stick taps and salute to the crowd, the Soo players/coaches hadn't left the ice and a few Spirit players skated farther to the opposite end than they should have. That's what the misconducts were for. There won't be any suspensions and shouldn't be...it was a very competitive game and Oke outplayed Schenkel...that was the difference in the game. Oke controlled every puck and Schenkel was shaky on rebounds and had two he didn't squeeze enough. Shots and gameplay were pretty even all game.

Leaving the bench in general it’s 2 mins plus a misconduct. They typically only suspend if there is an altercation.

Pushing and jawing is an altercation. NHL players get suspended for simply leaving the bench. They don't have to do anything else. I honestly can't really tell what happened with Beck after the game and don't know why he alone was penalized. If it wasn't serious, then it's an odd penalty to assess, given the automatic suspension attached to it.

I fully agree with your game assessment. If every game is this tight, it's going to be a hell of a series.

Brady Martin was trying his best. Took a lot of slashes and got dumped a few times, but I agree with you that more players need to do the same.
We need some vets to step up and go to the trenches like Martin and T. Hayes have been. Our top line was good but can be better too, some turnovers hurt us and ended up in net, few squekers Charlie would like back I'm sure but we need to score to win. Definitely need more traffic and net front presence to make life miserable for Oke, whatever punishment their D give us we have to give it right back. Not a fan of how wide open we leave Parekh at times, also have to hit him every chance we get.

Thought we played well in first but 4 PP for Saggy in 1st definitely didn't help. 2nd period was not great and giving up an early 3rd period marker was not ideal for a comeback.

I expect a good response and to come back tied 1 to 1, hopefully the boys come back to the SooZoo and take it to them.

Stay positive folks, we have a great team and coaching staff to right the ship.

2nd pick Callum Croskery. Might be the best defenseman in the draft or maybe 2nd after Nyman. But will he report?
Definitely a bit surprised at this pick only because of his commitment to the USHL and their flagship franchise the Chicago Steele. Normally kids who tender here stay committed to the program and have NCAA in their sights.

Definitely one of top defenseman available and will be the steal of draft if he reports. Really liked the idea of taking Marlies captain and center Weston Cameron at this spot with him still on the board, 6 ft 3 center who can play both sides of puck.

Let's hope Croskery reports and our back end looks great for years to come with our depth and youth.

It's a bit of a catch-22. If we get physical then calls will be made against us and not on them, due to Hache and the fact that they are hosting. We certainly saw the double standard in the first game. It's an unfortunate situation, but reality.

If the ncaa relaxes their rules in 18 months, then this draft class could come and play their 17 year old season without jeopardizing ncaa eligibility. Maybe Raftis is playing the long game here.

i didnt realize he was committed.

if he doesnt report and we find ourselves short on depth to build around Martin I don't think i'll like this pick too much.

maybe using one of our 4ths on a high risk high reward move would have been a wiser move? but I'll judge this pick in the future, for now, i will let raftis pitch the program.

Why are we picking so many d? Lol

2 forwards through 6 picks?
Taking a chance on the croskersy pick, the Harris pick I can see 100%…have lacked size on d, with the exception of Gibson, but Gibson played a different game than their last big d Thompson. The goalie pick is nice to see. They’ll have a goalie develope and join roster every year. Miller now, telegarr this upcoming year and the 4th rounder the next year. Smart for sure.

Elite prospects (top 80)
Callum Croskery 15
Ryder Cali 31
Nolan Long 33

OHL Prospects (top 22)
Callum Croskery 15
Ryder Cali HM

PuckPreps (top 80)
Callum Croskery 8
Ryder Cali 23
Nolan Long 79

I don't have rankings, but they ranked Croskery and Camputaro as the biggest steal of the 2nd and 4th rounds, respectively.

____________

Rankings on Carson Andrew are non-existent. He seems like a high end first round talent, but no one really scouted him. He's probably a really tough commit. Maybe we can get fellow Missouri product Ryan Roth to help recruit.

I'd imagine Nolan Long has a college commitment as well, considering how far below the rankings he went.

Cade Kinnear is the final American guy, but there's nothing about him. It's probably fair to expect the rest to be in camp next year.
