I’m thinking Ottawa’s pick :)
Well Matier is a northern boy! We also have the picks for a trade. Will depend on three things
1-Hayton needs to be sent back
2-Ottawa needs to decide to go for it next year. There is a debate on the Ottawa board about going all in next year or in two years. My personnal opinion... if we get Hoefenmayer back we go for it.
3- Ottawa's brass need to alter their stated philosophy as they have repeatedly said they want to be competitive every year and not mortgage the future.

That being said Hayton should be the top prize at the deadline if he's sent back. Hell of a player.

if Hayton is not back the greyhounds will fight for a playoff spot. will most likely finish 7th or 8th in the
conference. With Hayton back most likely finish 3rd or 4TH in the conference.

Division?

Conference. Said the same thing last year and I will again, anyone who is willing to put money on it... I'm always willing. This team has talent top to bottom and has the staff to fill the holes even if no Hayton. Hayton makes us a contender for the top of the conference.. Without him, this team is still very stellar.

No chance the hounds are a bottom 3 or 4 team in the conference, let's be real.

Personally, I don't think any team in the West Division will top the conference. The West Division will be too competitive this year, with the two teams at the top of the Midwest Division (Kitchener, London) placing 1st and 3rd in the conference.

I do believe the Hounds could push for tops in the West Division, but they could just as easily finish fourth in the West Division - the division will be that tight. Therefore I predict the Hounds will end up in one of 2,4,5,6 in the conference.

The Hounds finishing in the top 6 sounds good to me. Maybe someone knows more, but I'm worred about more than Hayton missing come September. Plus, no Hayton and play making will be minimal at best given the departure of Frost. The NHL draft also makes me worried about who will create offense.

You're hardly making a bold prediction. Any team with an excellent track record and top 4 roster in terms of talent should be expected to finish in the top 4.

An excellent track record is why we love our Hounds, but a top 4 roster in terms of talent? I don't see it even though I wish I could.

Our roster is very good, although still quite young. This season's success will hinge on our young players taking another huge stride forward with their development.

We may not have as many "Impact" players in the lineup as we have been accustomed to, but our forward depth is going to be very impressive. I feel bad for our 13th and 14th forwards this season (whoever they end up being); these players will not get much ice time here, yet I believe they would have a shot at cracking the 3rd line on a majority of teams in the OHL.

Will our depth and scoring by committee be enough to overcome our lack of impact players? We shall see.

I'll bet you an entire season of season tickets Hayton has a better career?

My issue was the original poster saying Hayton was "far" better than Turcotte, not whether one will have a better career than the other. Hayton could absolutely have a better career (I'm assuming that you mean NHL). The original poster is still being unrealistic.

Hayton is older than Turcotte and has been a better player thus far in his career. The age difference is huge if we are just looking at this season. I made no predictions regarding their future, just a fact about this coming season.

I think the issue is saying Hayton is "Far" better. He might be a better player (still debatable to some people) but he is not "Far" better. They would be in the same tier as an NHL prospect at this point. Both were very high NHL draft picks, both have very high ceilings, and both produced domestically and at the International level for their countries.

It's hard to judge whether the use of "far" is warranted or not, and it is being used as a relative term without giving any context. In my mind, and perhaps the mind of others, if I could select 19 year old Barrett Hayton or 18 year old Alex Turcotte, I would choose Hayton 10 times out of 10.

I don't take exception to the OP's use of the word "far" in this case, although I can see why you might.

Random question seeing they were just drafted in the NHL, but say Caufield and Beecher play this year in the NCAA and next year decide to go OHL. Do they have to come here or are they free agents and can sign with any OHL team?

Where does Kalvyn Watson sit in the Greyhounds plans this year?
