I highly doubt he will. But I got a lot of push back a while back for saying he would likely factor into our plans this season in the majors. I'll say it again...the guy will get innings in the majors this season lol

I don't think anyone really doubts he'll pitch in the majors this year. The main concern is an innings limit that will likely prevent him from spending a full season in the rotation.

I mean I agree with that....I definitely got push back on saying he would hit the majors this year lol something about him needing to prove it in AAA before there is talk about the majors. Completely understand managing his innings and building him up.

Yeah, I think you may be misremembering some of that conversation. The pushback was about whether he's ready to step in right now. And, to be clear, I'm actually on your side of that conversation - he's ready for the majors now and you can manage his innings along the way - but I think even the people who are less confident about him expect him to contribute at some point.

Looks like this will be the starting lineup
I'd like to see Clement in there, but he'll get plenty of playing time, and Biggio and IKF have both earned their spots this spring. I'm not too concerned about it now that Espinal has been moved out.

I don’t think that group thought of him as a major league starter this year. At the most I think the perception was that he should be starting in the minors and relieving near the end.

Tbh I was unsure if he was stretched out enough to break camp, but I wouldn’t question him eating innings up here. There’s little value in wasting bullets in the minors.

No Buck, Dan Iassogna is not one of the best umps in the league. He’s arguably one of the worst. And those low and away pitches (strike 3 on Varsho) are his absolute kryptonite.

Look back to his 2023 worst strike contender opening day last year in the Cimber vs Donovan PA.

They both looked to be balls by quite a bit

It's great to say that Kikuchi's command is off, but there have been a LOT of bad calls so far (and Kikuchi seems to have a different strike zone).

How many innings you think he'd be roughly be held to this coming season? Would they cap him at 100? He's only pitched 60 and 78 innings last 2 years over various leagues. With the 60 last year.

You can't trust ip numbers.

Both years include time in the lab, so he actually threw more than both numbers, but some of it wasn't in a game setting.

I went back to take a gander myself to see if I was misinterpreting the conversation. I don't believe I was, there were a couple people that believe he needs to prove himself in AAA before he enters the conversation for the majors. I also don't even mind him starting out in AAA to start the season, but to me he has absolutely nothing to prove at AAA that he hasn't already proven along the way. Just needs to stay healthy now.

Don't like Kikuchi right now. This guy is such a p***y. You have great stuff, use it. Stop nibbling around then serving up meatballs. I don't get it.
