Yes on them starting in LA, no on the name thing.
Lakers should have drafted one of the centers, but they decided to go Westbrook, and take a flier on converting an off-guard to a PG. Not the route I would have taken, but we'll see how it plays out this year. I'm thinking, another long LONG year for the lakers.
If the lakers were smart, they'd trade Kobe, so, they can add a couple of more pieces for a total rebuild.
The only player that intrigues me is Nance. I hope he has a good year.
The Chargers and/or Rams could be returning prodigal son style.
Lakers can't trade Kobe, no one in their right mind would take him.
D'Angelo Russell will be a huge bust. Kobe and Byron Scott is gonna ruin this kid. Poor dude. Name the last second overall pick in the NBA draft that amounted to anything besides Kevin Durant. I rest my case. Gonna be a veeeeeeeeeeery long season again.
LaMarcus Aldridge isn't too bad. It's just a coincidence that number 2 overall picks don't pan out that often.
I'm thinking there will be several teams interested in Kobe. Kobe may have been injured the past couple of seasons, but he's still a very good scorer and a fierce competitor. He'd be ideal in NY.
I'm a Charger fan but I have no interest in seeing them move here. They are San Diego's team. I highly doubt many fans will adopt them if they move here and I think a LOT of San Diego people will disown them.
Raiders are the Raiders. They'll draw the same 40-50K fans left over from when they were here before but nobody else will go to those games. It'll be a disaster from a corporate perspective (luxury suites, etc)
The Rams have the best chance to succeed but does anyone really think there is any kind of a groundswell of demand here for an NFL team? I know many people who follow the NFL, play fantasy etc and I've never heard a single one ever express any desire for a team here. There may be a demand from a league/corporate perspective but I don't see it from a rank and file fan perspective.
The Ram tradition in LA is dim. The Chargers' is non-existent.
The Rams tradition is not dim in L.A.. The Evil Georgia drove the Rams into the ground the last 4 - 6 years she was here.
(LLS: one of the most satisfying things about going to Rams games those last few years, was having seats near the team entrance. Just before half time, Georgia would walk out of the tunnel and on to the field to a chorus of boos and much, MUCH worse. She quit coming out the last few years)
If the Rams come back, fans will come out of the woodwork to follow them.
I agree, but it needs to happen soon. People that were the youngest fans of the Rams when they were relevant in Southern California are probably in their early 40's by now.
Gonna need some nostalgia to go along with it as well. You know Deiter Brock Day, and such.
One of the worst QB's in Rams history.
After watching 5 mins of the lakers game, I've come to the conclusion that this team, as is, won't win 20 games.
I don't know what the lakers' brass see in Randle. He's a power forward that can't rebound and is often out of control.
Put Nance in there!
If the Lakers look that bad, then I'd imagine these Timberwolves won't win 10 games. They're getting spanked around.
