just cannot wrap my head around how people let their politics affect their entire lives. That's directed to people on both sides, since it happens

You may not f*** with politics, but politics will f*** with you. Don't like the intersection of politics and sport? They've always been political, especially the olympics. Sportswashing for propaganda is a thing.

IDGAF what my goalie's views are, as long as he stops the goddamn puck

I wish we could go back to a time where ploitical views and religion weren't discussed in polite society
I long for the days where you actually discuss it instead of just getting labelled and yelled at

That always depends on which team it is. The "you don't need a Vezina goaltender to win the Cup" talk is always pretty silent when Bobrovsky or Vasilevsky was winning it.
Regardless we have seen time and again teams win the cup without one, so clearly you don't need one in net to win the whole thing, having a much more well rounded team and one that completely buys in seems to be more crucial.

Don't get me wrong, I love Helle and he has been a steady force for us in net at least in the regular season, we will miss him for sure but I just feel like if Chevy can cook like he usually does in these trades it might just make us a better team overall.

How will politics f*** with me?

And I hate the Olympics, for that reason (and a few more)

I think that maybe what you're referring to as "politics", I would refer to as "government"... because yes, the government f***s with me constantly lol (and it never seems to matter whether they're blue, red or orange)

When I think of politics, I think of debating ideas (and the reasons behind those ideas) for the purpose of getting elected TO government

Not to get in an argument about politics and societal issues but its my belief people have never agreed to disagree
Ironically, I don't think that I agree with this lol

As long as you can communicate why you believe what you do, I'm fine with an opinon that's different from mine. I don't even think that most people NEED to be agreed with, as long as they're understood. Hell, 96% of the debates I've been in on here could have been avoided if the other poster would have just said "I see why you say that, and it makes a lot of sense... but I still disagree because x, y, and z"

Two people can come to very different conclusions about the same topic if they come from different backgrounds

Genuine political debate in North America (I'm including Canada too) seems to have disappeared and it's pretty sad. I have adult-ish kids and they really don't see politics as having nuance and debate. They see it as divisive and angry old people insulting each other to the point that we don't care about the subject anymore. Just the anger.

Anyway, no politics allowed, so yay Jets!

To be honest I didn't know helle won the medal of freedom and if he did I'm sure that's something him and his family should celebrate,I also have no qualms about him touring american news outlets and visiting the white house, Americans were excited and expressed their joy about beating canada and their president expressed his views about beating us as well which is all good in love and war and life and hockey,so he has received many accolades from his proud American fan base, and the Jets honored him and kfc during the game and that's that, and heres hoping he is around to play canada again and we bring home top honor's,go canada.

hmmmm Helle?

With Dreger generally accepted as being Chevy's mouthpiece, I'm srarting to wonder if this is a way of management prepping the fanbase to recieve news of a coming trade

It sure seems like it.

Where there is smoke there is fire and it seems like the marching orders have been given out. I'd imagine soon we will see the rest of the TNSE troops start to talk about it. They are prepping the fan base for something the rest of us hardcore fans have been discussing for the last 2 weeks now.

So now comes the fork in the road. Do we try and get better or do we go for futures and embrace a rebuild? There are options on the table. I don't think the Jets brass has the stomach for a rebuild right now. So I think we will try and get better but that's pretty hard to do when you move a Vezina goalie to try and plug another hole in the lineup. Lateral move at best, loss of yards at worse.

All things aside has any of these insiders mentioned what they think the return for a 34 goalie is,I think now that he is coming off a gold his market is high in the states but I'm not sure the return is going be huge, but you never know,if we can create a bidding war amongst teams helle will wave for,it has been mentioned that helle will be accommodating and I'm not there, if the guy wants a cup he will have a short list.

Yep if there is one thing Chevy excels at it's getting incredible returns for his players, I have no doubt what so ever that if he trades Helle we are getting a haul.

I honestly believe we could actually be a better team if we get the right pieces back, sure we will miss Helle in net but it has been proven time and again that you don't need a vezina goaltender to win the cup.
and what's your return where if we have something similar to a SV% as last year which was ~league average, that the Jets are Cup Contenders?

Yeah a very short list. Vegas, Tampa, Florida, Dallas, Minnesota. Seem like the obvious answers. Maybe he'd waive for LA. Tampa, Dallas and Minnesota likely have zero interest. Vegas would need to open up considerable cap space or somehow move Hill to another team because I doubt Hill waives for Winnipeg.

Florida is by far the best option and with 9th overall they are attractive from a rebuild perspective.

Yeah, I was willing to dismiss the "smoke" when it was a bunch of randos on rando podcasts.. but it feels different with Dreger

As for the fork in the road... I'd say that it depends on the Helle return. If it's 100% futures, then they might have to go the "rebuild" route (but I sense it might look a little different than people think). But if Chevy CAN pull off a deal for a 2C and a dman, then who knows?
