I think 9 OA + 40 OA is a reasonable and achievable haul for Hellebuyck.

40 - Ignatavicius RW

Yeah that is likely more in the realm of realistic but if Chevy is dead set on getting a 2C I don't think there are any trades out there outside of Lundell and it's likely that Florida wouldn't want to add much to that.

You could probably swing either #9+#40

or

Lundell+#40

I think all 3 of these can be true at once

1. The returns can get a bit overrated by our fans
2. The returns exceed what most of GMs are able to get in the same situation and the trades always aged well
3. The returns always lean towards helping the team in the now than they do the future

I think you're both mostly right

I think the interesting thing and something we can't possibly ever know is what would the returns have looked like if we just traded the player without it getting to the point where things get leaked?

Agree. While It’s fun to throw around what the Gms are likely chatting about, the flip side to this is he’s got a NMC and Chevy doesn’t need to do anything if he doesn’t like what he hears when picking up the phone

People all over right now bring up his end of the year interview; he also said in that same end of year interview unprompted how he likes Winnipeg and made it his home, and also how he loves the city and loves playing there.

FLA is really the only team capable of making this happen, Helle is not going anywhere that is not in true contention and it's clearly Chevy wants a solid 2C first and foremost who would obviously have to be free of any NTC.

Any other contending team either doesn't need Helle or Helle wouldn't want to go there and or they don't have a 2C they could trade us, so as far as I can see it's a package with Lundell or bust.

Mc Tavish and Dostal. If the Ducks re-sign Trouba they have to remain one of the favourites in the West. Joel Quenneville has won more games and Stanley Cups than Paul Maurice.
