It was a joke about Dreger saying where there is smoke there is fire, literally. TNSE has 100% told him to put the 2C++ market value out there… so if they are leaking thru Dregs, which they always do, then something is up.

It feels like this is Chevy's way of saying "if you want him NOW, you better be prepared to pay A LOT". Could still be a fishing expedition... Chevy's way of responding to the noise. Either it scares everyone off, or someone bites and we are laughing.

A "2C + +" to me is a cost-controlled 2C with term plus two other assets that solve a problem for us. Dreger explicitly mentioned a D and a 4C as "areas the team wants to address" - plus a replacement G obviously.

The 4C thing I thought was weird - just try Yager or Zhilkin already.

so in 12 months: Cheveldayoff doesn't go hard in re-signing Ehlers and loses him for nothing, refuses to improve the line-up to create a contender, Hellebuyck wins gold with US team and talks about how great it was being part of that team/managers/teammates, EoY he is vocal on wanting the Jets improved, Ehlers wins a Cup by being a key piece for Carolina, Hellebuyck trade talk intensifies....

…about sums it up

I see you manage your emotions well lol

It wasn't his fault he got it, and it's a big deal regardless of who gave it to him

You're the type of fan who is driving him out
Its a big deal in the states the same thing with his gold medal,it doesn't mean anything to me as a Manitoban, but as I said I'm not going to boo him or whatever but I don't have any joy whatsoever about his American accomplishment let him his family and fellow Olympians enjoy it.

Yeah but Jonathon Toews was nominated for the Masterson and we renovated the dressing rooms.

They might try. I think it's a mistake to trade Hellebuyck for a now roster upgrade, but given the NMC factor they might have to just take what they can.
Probably hoping they can get a good enough 2C to help the current core and then find a competent enough goalie to fill the net…problem is we need to fix our D as well

I would wager that Helle and his agent are fully aware of the change happening next year and are working WITH the Jets to get this done in a way that benefits everyone.

If Helle has asked for a trade, I dont hold anything against him and I dont think its acrimonious… dude has a huge opportunity to cash in on marketing dollars - and people have short memories.

The way this team plays defence, they need something a bit more than a competent enough goalie.

I'm sure they are working with the Jets to help. I don't think that means he's expanding his list of acceptable teams beyond maybe 5 or so, and that doesn't mean that the teams he wants to go to are willing to, or even have, the pieces that Chevy is looking for in return. Hellebuyck leads the GSAA stat by 20 goals over the last three seasons, and that includes last year's mid output of -0.35 in that stat. I'm sure the team can eventually adjust to replace him and be alright but I don't think that's happening next season with Arneil and the team on the ice as constructed currently.

It's "Going to unravel"? I thought we're were way passed unraveled with our LEAGUE MVP silently(and not so silently) wanting out because of how historically bad LY was
He's pulled on the thread, but the unravelling could be stopped with significant changes (which probably requires trading 8th overall for help now and a big rebound season for the team next year).

If ANYONE can wrestle that kind of return out of a GM, it's Chevy

I remember people being gobsmacked at the PLD return
Yep if there is one thing Chevy excels at it's getting incredible returns for his players, I have no doubt what so ever that if he trades Helle we are getting a haul.

I honestly believe we could actually be a better team if we get the right pieces back, sure we will miss Helle in net but it has been proven time and again that you don't need a vezina goaltender to win the cup.

That always depends on which team it is. The "you don't need a Vezina goaltender to win the Cup" talk is always pretty silent when Bobrovsky or Vasilevsky was winning it.

I think that Chrvy also excels at siging guys to contracts that are very fair for both sides

He never seems to rip anyone off OR overpay

Maybe some terms have been a little longer than they could have been for aging guys (Wheeler, Helle, Schief, Lowry) but that's fairly standard practice across the league

I've suspected for a while that these comments were the kind of person Helle was, but he kept tight lipped because of the team he played for. And hanging out with certain players on the US Olympic team has emboldened him to now be more vocal.

That's all I'll say because my thoughts on this topic blur too close to the lines that might get me in trouble with the mods here.

(Hopefully that doesn't cross any lines mods!)

I just cannot wrap my head around how people let their politics affect their entire lives. That's directed to people on both sides, since it happens

IDGAF what my goalie's views are, as long as he stops the goddamn puck

I wish we could go back to a time where ploitical views and religion weren't discussed in polite society
