thats not exactly correct.
When panarin was out buch took that spot on pp1, they just rotated over so mika was in panarin's spot.

Buch at 5v5 was a solid producer tho, and for times when mika was underperforming early was the one carrying that line.

How is wanting to see Jones instead of Miller "European bias"?

Miller and Lundkvist play different positions. They aren't competing IMO. It's Jones vs Miller, and Lundkvist vs Schneider. And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if all 4 spend time in the AHL and all 4 will play in the NHL throughout the season.

Miller at age 21, with only 56 NHL games under his belt is vastly different from someone like Kreider. Remember when Chytil was sent down after playing 70+ games the season prior?

I really don't understand how Miller is somehow exempt from this, to the point where when it is discussed it's immediately shot down with BS arguments like "European bias". Miller really needs to play better if he wants to keep his spot in the line-up, although I could see a scenario where that doesn't matter like it didn't matter with Howden or Vesey (although Miller is obviously more talented).

And for the record: When Braden Schneider outperforms Nils Lundkvist, he should play on the 3rd pairing.

I’ve heard about European bias for Nils and also American bias for Jones. Utter nonsense. This isn’t the Olympics. I’d argue that 99.9% of the people on this board simply want the Rangers to roll with the best players that they can. I’m very confident in asserting nationality doesn’t play into it.

They have played together a lot and finished strong last season, so sure, they are probably the best group.

But that is not saying a set-up with Kakko on the right wouldn’t be as good after a few weeks. That unit was bottom 3 in the league for like 24 games last season.

Another alternative is Panarin on the right with Laf on the left. Fox between them and Kreider+Ziba down low. Good option too.

You would think that a rebuilding team has the inside track on Eichel because it wouldn’t matter losing assets for a guy who’s gonna be out. It wouldn’t make sense for a contending team or a team that’s pushing for a playoff spot to trade away valuable pieces for a guy who’s gonna miss months and hurt your chances. Hypothetically, let’s say the Rangers trade for him, they could slot Barron in on the third line for now, and whoever isn’t traded (Strome/Chytil), go from 2C to 3C once Eichel’s ready.

I would say there is still a chance at Eichel as long as Zibby's deal is not done yet. Once that is done, I would imagine we are out, unless we are unloading serious salary in a trade for JE(which is very unlikely).
