Lest we not forget that Pat Brisson, I mean Darren Dreger said that there was a ton of interest in DeAngelo and that a trade was imminent

Unless Buffalo’s Price has come down (which it probably hasn’t), this is just Dreger tweeting out propaganda for Brisson

You would think that a rebuilding team has the inside track on Eichel because it wouldn’t matter losing assets for a guy who’s gonna be out. It wouldn’t make sense for a contending team or a team that’s pushing for a playoff spot to trade away valuable pieces for a guy who’s gonna miss months and hurt your chances. Hypothetically, let’s say the Rangers trade for him, they could slot Barron in on the third line for now, and whoever isn’t traded (Strome/Chytil), go from 2C to 3C once Eichel’s ready.
That logic makes no sense. Rebuilding teams are trying to acquire as much high value assets as they can, not trade them away for a win-now player. Contending teams trade valuable assets for players literally all the time.

The impression I got from the plethora of summer rumors was that the Rangers didn't pull the trigger because the asking price was too high.

So unless that changes there's nothing to talk about. A NYR package of Strome, Robertson, Gauthier, 1st isn't gonna get the job done.

If anyone thinks Drury isn't coming away with Eichel once he is moved, you're kidding yourselves.
I firmly believe Drury wants Eichel and wants him bad.

but idk there’s just too many roadblocks at this point. The largest being Buffalo’s ownership does not want him traded here

The other thing is if Brooks/Vince is correct and Drury is deep in negotiations with Mika, if they get Eichel is the plan to just stop negotiating with Mika and say “we got our 1C, hit the road”

Would be a shitty move if they do that

Could Eichel theoretically get traded and go on LTIR until the playoffs a-la Kucherov and the Bolts? If so I could see that be an enticing proposition for the "win now" teams, though they may lack the pieces to make it happen.

Imagine if the Bolts pulled that off again? Chaos would ensue.

We know the Rangers were offering Jones as part of their offer for him - Does his eye-opening camp make Buffalo more interested in him now as opposed to wanting Nils or Schneider?

How about we take Eichel for free (or Hajek) or we’ll stop subsidizing upstate NY with our taxes? There’s a good chance that just about everyone here has contributed to a Pegula enterprise along the way if you pay taxes in NY state but never received an equity share. Let’s play hard ball.

If the Sabres don't like the Rangers package, they will hate what the Bolts can offer.

Jones is certainly doing his part but I’d have to imagine Buffalo wants RD with Dahlin and Power on the left
If there is anything the Rangers can spare, it's a RD. From the reports earlier in the summer, they wanted a Laffy type prospect in the deal as well. Obviously a non-starter. If the return was around Nils and conditional picks depending on how Eichel heals from his surgery, I'm sure the Rangers would listen.

How are the Rangers affording Eichel and extending Zib? What salary is there to offset $10MM cap hit while paying Zib and Fox? Even if the Sabres retained some, it's hard to fathom it working out.

Trouba and Kreider have movement protection. Strome is off the books after this season already and his cap space will be allocated to the Zib extension or new Fox contract . Not trading Panarin.

Don't re-sign Strome and trade Trouba and Kreider in a couple years when their NMCs become partial NTCs. That will be when Kakko and Laf are due for raises after their bridge deals expire.

I mean is there any way to hype Barron? Barron,Jones,Georgie,Othman and a 2023 1st with protections

Would have to imagine that offer is off the table or at least modified now that the season is a week away and JE still has not had the surgery.

There are going to be a shit load of conditional picks attached to this trade where ever he goes.

I don't think that the players discussed/involved on anyones end are really going to change. As far as I know, no team offered up their "A" assets.
