You would think that a rebuilding team has the inside track on Eichel because it wouldn’t matter losing assets for a guy who’s gonna be out. It wouldn’t make sense for a contending team or a team that’s pushing for a playoff spot to trade away valuable pieces for a guy who’s gonna miss months and hurt your chances. Hypothetically, let’s say the Rangers trade for him, they could slot Barron in on the third line for now, and whoever isn’t traded (Strome/Chytil), go from 2C to 3C once Eichel’s ready.
