Kakko and Laf are never going to put the points up that we expect if they’re never going to be on the PP. It’s as simple as that.

-stromes main problem is he’s going to price himself out of here for what he brings and he blocking chytil s chance at a bigger role atm. But he’s been good for us overall and resurrected his career.
-Geo sucks. Fans have hated him for a while. Way too inconsistent at that cost.
Agree the fire Gallant thread was ridiculous.
People are going to complain about Kreids /trouba no matter what. But as long as they are out there busting their ass, should be nothing to complain about.

Who is shitting on Gallant? are you referencing my thread title for a PGT "Fire Gallant"? It was obviously a meme/satire lol. I don't think anybody is seriously advocating firing Gallant.
But Trouba does not bust his ass, that guy coasts back and gives up on plays left & right like in his last game
You say its a meme, but way too many people are moaning about how terrible he is, without any sense of sarcasm.
I got that the fire gallant was a joke, but too many people are watching the pre-season and not really listening to the players and him.
His job is to get 100% , he didnt want to install a system before he understood what he had. He wasnt gonna make guys fight for jobs because thats not his style. He's not tort.
They got reaves for a lot of the reason that the leafs got thornton last year, to be in the room and to be that voice. yeah he brings hits, but he's also a dude whos been to the last stop on the train with gallant and can tell you what to expect.

People act like we say Jacob Tuba for no reason. There are some large discrepancies in the way certain players are viewed. Its most likely somewhere in the middle, but lets not act like Jacob Tuba has been a revelation. People really think hes lived up to his contract so far? I can't honestly agree with that statement, nevermind the fact that people think this guy deserves to be the captain.

Jacob Trouba is overpaid while also showing the most as a prospective captain since he’s gotten here. Both of those things can be true the same time. By all accounts he stepped up big time when Tony DeAngelo decided to go malignant last year.
Kreider and Zib are more of the lead from afar types IMO. The kind of guys that will show younger players how to workout and take care of yourself off the ice.

Coach Gallant may or may not agree. If he doesn't think
they are the best option right now I'll go with that. After all he and his coaching staff have about half a century of experience. Again.

my point is sooner or later they are going to be the guys, I would rather they get the chemistry and reps in now while its not a playoff scenario - to each their own
I 100% want laf on at least pp1 and kk on pp2.
If we have a top 5 pp, i dont think we have much room for argument that it might just be that at the moment theres no room for the kids on it.
We had a top 15 pp last year, and that was with mika sick and panarin out games.
We could easily be a top PP this year.

No he hasn't lived up to his contract but he is a lot more important to this team than some people give him credit for. That being said if when his NMC ends in a few years and they can replace him with Schneider that would be a very good thing.
I don't understand people getting all worked up over who the captain is. It's easy to sit back and criticize line pairings and assignments and judge who is and isn't playing, because we can see all that stuff play out in front of us. Our opinions can be fully informed.
Unless you're in that locker room every day, I don't think you can confidently say who "should" or "shouldn't" be the captain. That's the type of thing that really only the players and coaches can speak to. If the locker room dynamic is such that Kreider or Trouba is the obvious choice for captain, despite being overpaid or underperforming or whatever, then so be it.
The captaincy in hockey is a funny thing because I think it means more to the fans than the players, yet the fans are the least equipped to judge who it ought to be.

Kessel may be the most tradeable player in hockey. $6MM cap hit, $1MM in salary. Even teams with no money but cap space could take him on. Of course, Arizona's asking price is likely a first although that may soften as the year goes on.
