with the talent on this team we should be a top5 PP. There's no excuses. Being top15 is not good enough

Hajek is dealt. Someone may still find value in him due to his young age. Tinordi is your 7th defenseman and is only in the lineup when the Rangers play the shithouse teams like Washington. Gauthier is kept around if Kravtsov is out for any significant period of time. Keep Hunt and Gauthier. It's not like the Rangers don't have the cap room to keep 14 F, 7 D and 2 goalies.

I find it strange having Hajek at the group building weekend when he’s as good as gone but i guess teams need more time to figure out their roster needs

Why? He's still a valuable player that will eventually turn it around.
It's not his fault he was rushed in an attempt to justify the McD trade..

Not sure what the rush is to move guys like Hajek and Gauthier. Are they going to refuse to report / demand a trade if they don’t make the starting roster? There will be injuries and cold streaks throughout the season. Why move players who can fill in a pinch for a mid round pick or the like? Depth is the name of the game when you’re trying to win a playoff round.

Where does he fit in? 5 D positions are set and Jones, Lundkvist, and Schneider are all very close and considered top prospects unlike Hajek, plus they have Tinordi.

He doesn't.
That doesn't mean he's no longer a highly regarded player.
He was injured and at least deserves a shot, no?
Is he being showcased?

Mckegg sent down? Lol awesome. He was a gong show out on the ice during his last game. So bad. Belongs in the AHL for the remainder of time.

I don't see him as a highly regarded player at all. I see him as a marginal NHL type or AHL type player who has a good number of people ahead of him in this organization. Why would he be showcased? Pre-season is to get players ready for the regular season and to see guys like Jones, Lundkvist, and Schneider who actually have a chance to make the team. I think Hajek is an afterthought now although I wouldn't mind him as a depth piece in Hartford.

Timing and circumstances didn’t work out for Hajek but I think he has a future. They’ll find a spot for him. Same with Georgiev. Hoping they can package those two for something worthwhile.

If he's considered an afterthought, then why is he still here at this stage of the game, nearing final cuts?
Not only is this team watching but there maybe a few others..

So...

Hajek vs. Tinordi, trade whichever one we can, keep the other as a 7D.

Jones vs. Lundkvist, can't go wrong. I'm expecting Lundkvist in the NHL to start, and he'll settle in and look good.

Hunt vs. Barron, send Barron down to get 1C minutes in Hartford until injuries happen or we package multiple forwards for an upgrade somewhere.

We have like a half dozen kids that may be able to put a bunch of pressure on Drury this year. And Lafreniere and Kakko in the top6. This is fantastic.

I wouldn’t be upset if they sent Miller down to start the season and went with Jones-Trouba and Nemeth Lundkvist. Let Miller play big minutes in all situations and when he’s confident and hits his stride we’ll find a spot for him. There’s nothing wrong with the AHL... guys like McDonough and Kreider benefitted from it. You could always mix Tinordi into the lineup in games where you want a bit more size until he’s back...

Gallant already said Miller-Trouba is set. He's not only made the team but it feels like management is convinced that Miller-Trouba is a great idea, Miller should learn from Trouba etc. It feels like Jones is already resigned to the idea of being sent down. Nothing about this management/coaching staff has that new age buck the trend meritocracy vibe to it. Gauthier/Barron both has uphill battles when it comes to beating out guys like Blais, Reaves, and Rooney that are new additions or veterans.

He's not making the team and there are 3-4 prospects ahead of him long term. Call it what you want.

Nice that so many think Hajek or Gauthier will be traded in order to avoid losing assets for nothing. But there is only a short time to accomplish that and it may not prove doable.

I think we got Hunt for a reason and will try to hang on to him as the first extra forward. I think given all the heav(ier)weights we loaded up on at forward Tinordi is more expendable than Hajek in a waiver claim but he likely won't be claimed due to his salary vs. his actual contribution level. Gauthier is the biggest problem as far as I'm concerned... he'll probably need to be sent down and will be picked up by another club. Can't win 'em all. Trades would be great but don't count on it.

Miller played big minutes in the NHL last year and succeeded. He will only regress if he’s sent to the AHL. He’s isn’t being sent down.
