I question Kreider all together.
I dont question the players... I question the 'cliques' that have formed and cant be broken... Even if it would benefit the team.

We have too many players to begin with. It limits the team if Kreider is stuck to Zibs and Strome to Panarin.

I think you HAVE to limit Strome to Panarin. He can't play with anyone else.

Kreider OTOH needs to be pushed out of the top 6.

We saw Kreider and Strome had success last year when Panarin was out. We'll see how long it lasts..

IMO Gallant being a 'players coach' will allow them to start as they want but will make adjustments based on play.

I also wouldn't be opposed to a 'super-line' like Bostons.. Panarin Zibs Kakko or something.

Gotta give all of it time to shake out. Miller is a young player who you have to expect to go through ups and downs. I don't have any problem with a coach saying the kid who finished on the all-rookie team a season ago is a lock to make the roster. If come November, we're losing and Miller is struggling, then you have to make tough decisions, but with a player so young and raw still it feels presumptive to say he'll be good or bad to start the year one way or the other, or to say that however he looks will be how he'll look for all or even most of the season.

Jones, if sent down, will be waiting in the wings. As will Schneider. As will, to a lesser extent, Reunanen and Robertson. Who makes the team out of camp doesn't mean who will play most of the season, or set the roster permanently in place, especially under a new coach.

Quinn's first year, Lias seemed like a lock over the summer and got beat by Howden. The next year, Chytil started in Hartford. The next year, Lias was on the opening night roster--anybody remember that?

Chytil is great with time and space but 75% of NHLers are great when given that. He really needs to learn how to leverage himself better along the boards in order to win more of those one on ones to create some time and space when it's readily there for him. Not only to use quick stops and starts and hard on edges which he's pretty good at, but anticipating his opponents moves and moving the puck to an area where he has the physical leverage then to make a move and play. Too often he makes a few finesse moves that partially work but then gets muscled off the puck as he tries to force his way the rest of the way through. Only the most elite board players can force their way along the boards at the NHL level. This is something that KK seems to have picked up, he was good at it last year and so far seems upgraded this year.

I personally believe Trouba isn’t the best partner for Miller.

Lindgren would be a better partner for Trouba. I even think Nemeth would be better with Trouba than Miller

problem is if you do that you either have Miller taking top pairing duties with Fox (which he isn’t ready for) or have him paired with Lundkvist who’s a rookie

so Miller being with Trouba is the least bad of the 3 options
Yup, how much shelter can we or should we provide a Miller/Lundkvist 3rd pairing. Let’s see if Miller picks it up but it’s an option, as you point out

what's going on with Barkov? FLA has to be getting a little anxious.... we saw this movie before.

Imagine a world where we land Panarin AND Barkov in UFA? :)

If he isn't signed by the deadline, he'll be traded for a haul to a team that wants to sign him.

No way he actually hits the open market.

I don't think Miller is anything less than a high potential prospect. I also think it's legitimate to wonder if at this moment in time Jones MIGHT not be in a better position to help the club win games. Right now it seems like he just has a better feel for the game, though Miller ultimately may possess the better raw package. How and when he further refines the use of that package is going to define which of them has the better pro career.

Small sample size and those 2 got roasted defensively.

Florida is a contender this year. I cant see them making that move if they're deep in the hunt.

A lefty from the right dot... shooting.... what an amazing idea

think of the possibilities

I know Dallas wasn't a contender in 2009 but they were certainly in the playoff picture when they offered Richards to us in a trade.

FLA could probably get back three major pieces for Barkov at the deadline. If we offered Strome, 1st, Jones/Lundkvist I think they'd consider it. Strome helps hold them over on the loss of Barkov.

someone is going to skate out with a C on their jersey in the next few games.
It's kinda anti-climatic to do a presser announcement or during the preseason lol. I think they should wait for our home opener and do a little ceremony with Rangers alumni at the beginning of the game. I was at the home opener where they named Horvat captain and it was a lot more moving than some presser

In most cases, I'd agree. But for Florida it feels like a pivotal year for building fan interest. Kinda like Columbus in 2019.

Toronto did the same with Tavares too, right?
