If Laf’s speed increased the way it looked last game, then I think he’s looking at 50-60 points this year as his floor.

I think it's safe to say we should expect offensive leaps forward from Kakko and Lafreniere this year if the line combinations stick.

Chytil and Kravtsov on the other hand may have to work very hard for their points.

Unfortunately Strome is a one-dimensional player, and as such shouldn't hold all too much value.
But could we at least get a late 1st rd pick for him at the dead-line or during the season?

I'm talking, contender loses a guy longterm, looks to acquire a proper subsititution.

He was a top 5 pick in his draft and I feel that warrants the ask of a 1st rd pick.

Like, if Buch had been a 1st rd. pick, we would have gotten Blais and the 1st.

Chytil looked far far better than strome so far.

It’s too bad that Chytil hasn’t been able to supplant Strome for the simple fact that it would really help balance out the lines and introduce a guy like Blais on the 3rd line, allowing Hunt to play as well.

have any waiver-vulnerabble guys been demoted yet?
I don't think so, not yet

yeah it seems ALL the waiver-vulnerable bubble/AHL guys still in camp,
perhaps cannot be demoted until 1st day of waivers?
Brodzinzki, Greco, Geertsen, McKegg, Ronning, Gettinger .... Gautheir, Hunt
Bitetto, Tinordi, Hajek
Kinkaid

dont thinks cause he’s in the AHL if he’s not in NY
He's 20, so it doesn't slide no matter wear he plays, but if he were slide-eligible, it would slide no matter how many AHL games he played if he didn't play 10 NHL games.

Remember when we played Kotalik and Frolov on the 4th line but their primary job was triggerman on the PP? Now obviously they didn't work out for us, but those guys had cannons in their hey-day. I can see Panjuniemi making a niche in that mold.

If we’re in Gauthier discourse territory, I wouldn’t want him any higher up than the fourth line, but I also don’t know why he would clear waivers.

Frolov was played on the 4th? I thought they brought that guy in for top 6 minutes...

Started top 6...was terrible and Torts hated him. Remember he was in the dog house then blew his knee out and that was the end of his NHL career.

You’re basically looking at 22-23 with Barron somewhere in the mix

I find it hard to believe Gauthier would make it through waivers

think both him and Hajek would get snapped up by crappy teams looking for a free lottery ticket

I have lost interest in Hajek going on waivers or whatever, but if they really want to keep him as a 7th, it’s fine. Is anyone really claiming 29 year old Jared Tinordi on a 2 year contract, especially with both years being 1 way deals?

Really feels like Lundkvist & Jones are competing for their long term future with the team. One is pencilled in next to Schneider, and the other is getting traded for an upgrade at center

Hajek is still young and could still make it , but right now he isn’t good enough to play regularly on this team

It would be very difficult to field three defensemen all below 6 feet tall and under 190 lbs. I'm not sure it's ever been done before.

Barron is going to be your big 3C. Hopefully he shines if given the chance to PK as well. I’ve said it before, but this is a huge year for chytil. He needs to play consistent for a long stretch.
Hopefully Gallant will reward him with more minutes/bumping him up in the line up if strome falters a bit.
If not you can see both strome and chytil not here next season

I’d wager our lines look more like this next season.
The ??? Can be filled internally if Chytil/Richards progress to a point where management is happy with them. If not I see Drury going to the trade/UFA market to fill long term 2nd and 4th line centers.
Rooney is up at the end of the year. Depending on his raise and how Richards looks and what’s in Free Agency, I’d give it 40% chance on us resigning him.
If chytil doesn’t have a big year, expect a big splash of a trade to bring in a legit 2C while this current teams window is open...
And that’s without any kids forcing themselves on the roster with a great camp on offense.
Defense, were already seeing we’re going to have too many guys for not enough spots. Soon guys will start to get pissed because they know they can play in the nhl. You can’t keep them in the A too long without that happening.
I bet we see Schneider break in on 3rd pair next year while he’s still on cheap ELC contract.
Well still have trouba and fox on the right as well. D next year looks like
Lindgren-Fox
Miller/Lundkvist/Jones-Trouba
Nemeth/Jones/Lundkvist/Miller-Schneider

Robertson likely another half year at least In Hartford.
As you can see, we’re going to basically have 3 guys competing for maybe 2 spots, with one big mobile D in Robertson coming up right behind them.....
Drury can afford to Carry Nemeth as a 7th D option if the 3rd pairing remains that cheap. At least for 1 more season after this year.
That’s my 2 cents on how it shakes out......
Odds are, which ever D we wind up trading, whether it be Miller/Lundkvist/Jones, I bet they all become solid players, very important to get a good return and find more quality D in the draft

They are. I can’t believe people don’t see it that way. With Fox long term, Trouba here for 3 more years at least, maybe more, and Schneider being a beast and bringing a different overall package then Fox/Lundkvist/Jones it’s pretty easy to see.
I’d wager if Nils doesn’t displace someone on the Left bottom 2 pairs, he’s not going to be here very long. Same can be said for Miller/Jones if Robertson keeps developing. I don’t think Lindgren is a guy that’s going to price himself off the rangers. He’s not going to have the fancy stats that warrants a huge raise, and he’s very important to our squad, especially if they plan on moving Trouba is 3 seasons, which seems likely but not definite.
