I have lost interest in Hajek going on waivers or whatever, but if they really want to keep him as a 7th, it’s fine. Is anyone really claiming 29 year old Jared Tinordi on a 2 year contract, especially with both years being 1 way deals?

I think Tinordi , Hajek and Gauthier would clear

my only question is do they keep 2 F spares and 1 D or vice versa

Bitetto plays both sides

I find it hard to believe Gauthier would make it through waivers

think both him and Hajek would get snapped up by crappy teams looking for a free lottery ticket
If you’re a ARI or Detroit, I’d for sure take a chance and hope they pop. Buffalo too. Not sure about Seattle. Depth is the 1 thing they have a lot of, with no really top end talent

Hajek and Gauthier could both realistically be claimed.

Hajek is still 23 and has 77 games under his belt, which isn't a totally abnormal development curve for a defenseman. I could see a team thin on D thinking he might be equivalent to someone on their bottom pairing while still possessing some upside.

Similar for Gauthier. Not much production to this point but you take a gamble on the upside. Reminds me of when we took Matt Puempel. Some team may think he's an upgrade on some other schlub in their bottom six.

I would say maybe 25% chance on each for getting claimed. Maybe more on Hajek because while Gauthier's skills are more appealing, I think quality defenders are harder to come by than whatever Gauthier is at this point. Not that Hajek is quality but some team may like his resume to this point and think they can coax him into something more.

they're not NHL players at all

Zach Jones is making life very difficult for Drury and Turk.

Hes confident with the puck and much like Fox, he doesn't rush his decisions. Makes the right play most of the time.

Hes got a little more competition for that 3rd LD spot than Nils does on the Right side, but when adding rookie camp to the pro camp, hes making a hell of a case.

Could be a very good trade chip for either Detroit or Florida
He might be a guy you keep versus some of our other guys on the D . I actually think we keep him around for a season before we sell him on the low side . He looks pretty darn impressive . I think his value will be much higher after a season of NHL play or even half a season of NHL play..../GM's & scouts are not blind and they will be watching him and Drury will get offers for him . I hope there are no early panic moves....Let's see what we actually have here with this team under Gallant . We'll never have a prospect crop like this again in a hundred years .

Barron is going to be your big 3C. Hopefully he shines if given the chance to PK as well. I’ve said it before, but this is a huge year for chytil. He needs to play consistent for a long stretch.
Hopefully Gallant will reward him with more minutes/bumping him up in the line up if strome falters a bit.
If not you can see both strome and chytil not here next season
-Kreider-Zib-Laf
Panarin-???-Kaako
Goodrow-Barron-Kravtsov/Blais
Hunt/Blais-????- Reaves
I’d wager our lines look more like this next season.
The ??? Can be filled internally if Chytil/Richards progress to a point where management is happy with them. If not I see Drury going to the trade/UFA market to fill long term 2nd and 4th line centers.
Rooney is up at the end of the year. Depending on his raise and how Richards looks and what’s in Free Agency, I’d give it 40% chance on us resigning him.
If chytil doesn’t have a big year, expect a big splash of a trade to bring in a legit 2C while this current teams window is open...
And that’s without any kids forcing themselves on the roster with a great camp on offense.
Defense, were already seeing we’re going to have too many guys for not enough spots. Soon guys will start to get pissed because they know they can play in the nhl. You can’t keep them in the A too long without that happening.
I bet we see Schneider break in on 3rd pair next year while he’s still on cheap ELC contract.
Well still have trouba and fox on the right as well. D next year looks like
Lindgren-Fox
Miller/Lundkvist/Jones-Trouba
Nemeth/Jones/Lundkvist/Miller-Schneider

Robertson likely another half year at least In Hartford.
As you can see, we’re going to basically have 3 guys competing for maybe 2 spots, with one big mobile D in Robertson coming up right behind them.....
Drury can afford to Carry Nemeth as a 7th D option if the 3rd pairing remains that cheap. At least for 1 more season after this year.
That’s my 2 cents on how it shakes out......
Odds are, which ever D we wind up trading, whether it be Miller/Lundkvist/Jones, I bet they all become solid players, very important to get a good return and find more quality D in the draft
Not judging Jay but do you do a lot of coke?

Larry Brooks knows so little its mind boggling, he must be just looking for attention, he cant be dense enough to think they'd keep Gauthier over Kravtsov and he's worried about losing Hajek??? Cmon.

Personally I'm not a fan of moving Laffy. He is supposed to be a star he is a kid why mess with him? Kreiders contract is here to stay. Balance the lines put him on the 3rd line leave Laffy at LW. Kreieder already is what he is I love the dude but Laffy is our future. Let him blossom in the position he has always played. You payed Kreider don't just move Laffy to justify Krieder paycheck. Let the kids play 3 solid lines and technically might be 4 can go a long way.

Laffy- Zibby- Kakko/Kravy
Bread-Strome-Kravy/Kakko
Kreider-Goody-Chytll (or Swap goody and Chytll)
Blais- Rooney-Reaves

I wouldn't confuse "knowing little" with "having stupid and often intentionally controversial opinions." Brooks knows a ton, but some of his musings have always been...off. And, as I said, intentionally so. Your post prompted me to go read an article I wouldn't have otherwise read.

Brooks is stupid like a fox.

I think it's safe to say we should expect offensive leaps forward from Kakko and Lafreniere this year if the line combinations stick.

Chytil and Kravtsov on the other hand may have to work very hard for their points.

If kakko and laf are making offensive leaps forward on the top two lines, kravstov and chytl are going to see some very favorable matchups.

I think you will eventually see this, I don't think this experiment will last the whole season. I also think that management doesn't want to just hand Kravstov a top 6 spot after 20 games. With that said Id rather them have Kreider play his offside until there ready to move Kravstov into the top 6

Yeah. Even if you take the stance that they're really AAAA players or something, well, those guys still get NHL games. Maybe they are not NHL regulars on a really good team but they literally only played in the NHL once the season started.

Exactly. And I understand what he meant. I don't agree on Gauthier but Hájek? Pfff, the guy should never have been offered a new deal. But here we are, he's under contract with an NHL team, and he's played 77 career NHL games. He's very much an NHLer... For now

Brooks is stupid like a fox.

Brooks' biggest flaw is his inability/unwillingness to adapt and change. He's a 1980s reporter in 2021. And before the days of the internet, with news coverage 24/7 and people being able to get their information anywhere, his content was actually useful. He was the source of information for everyone.

Now, he's resorting to gossip, ill-informed takes and flawed opinions, the latter thankfully hidden behind a paywell I will never pay for.

Larry Brooks is a relic of days past. A HHOF inductee as a reporter a few years ago, but still a relic from a different generation.

When you have Vince Mercogliano and Mollie Walker online producing actual insightful content, interacting with readers and being approachable, it all the more highlights Brooks' shortcomings. I respect him for what he was in the past, not the reporter he pretends to be today.

At least he doesn't tweet "Good period?" 3 times a game so there's that

That is like saying Derek Armstrong, Dylan McIlrath and Brad Smyth were NHL players cause they played some games in the NHL.

That I can definitely get behind just don't mess with the kid. There is enough pressure on him as it is why add to it. Let him be who he is and develop I could go either way Krieder 3rd line or yes move Krieder to the RW if Kakko or Kravy aren't up to snuff but leave Laffy at LW. Besides the whole purpose of the rebuild is to let the kids play so let them play.
