I am the biggest proponent for locking up guys long term, but if there is one exception I would be willing to make it’s with a D that just had a career year. Don’t get me wrong, but — all — players have ups and downs. It doesn’t take much for Fox to have a season that isn’t like No 1 in the league, but more like top 15 (if that!). And in that case around 8m per isn’t bad at all for a D coming of his ELC.

except his career year was year 2 and he didnt take a massive jump from year 1. Just more time on the PP.

Yeah, but like, all of a sudden he has to play 20 games with nagging injuries and what not. Now there are talk about him being a 8 digit player, but with some bad luck the talk is about being a 7.5m player.

Shit happens too.

If he was an oft injured player I’d say there’s merit to that discussion. He’s not relinquishing pp1 though.

We always talk about it with our younger guys--do you take it year by year and do things like offer the bridge, or do you lock them up long term before they get expensive by default? If ever there was a guy that you back up the Brinks truck for after just a couple years, it's Adam Fox.

Who is this poster? The Ola I know would sign EVERY player to a 5 year deal, including Brendan Lemieux.

Benjamin Moore ended up looking great on the helmet. So nice to see the exact branding colors match Rangers kit quite nicely. The red UBS logo looks so stupid on the Islanders.

Different strokes.

I honestly thought this was a reply to the Benjamin Moore posting

While Dube hasn’t logged a regular shift at pivot since his rookie campaign with the AHL’s Stockton Heat, he’s been studying the details in practice and video sessions.
“Every guy, every single forward, could go play centre,” he insisted post-game.

What is Dillon Dube talking about? Everyone can’t play center. You have to be born a natural center. Wing and center are a totally different position you can just teach someone the different responsibilities.

Additionally, suits have taken over the garden.
Agreed, its the curse of the goal song. Do you realize 93-94 was the last season that the Rangers striclty used the goal horn only after goals? Since then the goal song has come after the goal horn (still a great goal song though) and the Rangers havent won a Cup since then!

Everyone can, its whether you want to put the time into being good at it. I coached AAA teams that were short on centers, you take the hardest working winger and teach him where you want him to be, it's not rocket science. If someone really wants to be a center it's not like you have to take your masters to figure out the position, you just have to be willing to learn. I've even transitioned a forward to d and two years later he's getting drafted to the Q as a dman, hockey is hockey, if you're willing to learn and you have a good coach it can be done
