I don't know what people really expect from Chytil given his usage in the NHL so far.

I think Chytil flourishes if he's paired with a playmaker and a puckhound who plays fast. I could see a line of Chytil, Hunt and Kravtsov being fire.

That’s a two-way street though. Had he forced his way up the lineup, he’d get better usage. Again, I am not writing off Chytil. But at some point things have to start working out for him. Anyhow I have more faith in Gallant with a clean slate to get the best guys in positions to succeed. I’m hopeful for Chytil. He has all the measurables.

I think we could use a veteran goalie for Hartford at some point. I think Georgiev should be traded. If nothing else, he should get a shot at a starter role somewhere. Unless they’re really worried about Igor starting healthy.

I dunno, Shesterkin hasn't proven to be super durable yet,we do have Kincaid but I'm not sure I'd cut Georgiev loose yet unless it was for something of value, i certainly would not trade him just to let him go somewhere else.

Eh that was very much a Quinn thing though. He was married to certain combos and wouldn’t break them up no matter how much they weren’t working.

Chytil is still young but to play in this top six he needs to be more of a distributer, a give and go guy than a straight line player. I just feel people are too worried about where Chytil sits in the lineup, he's gonna have good players to play with no matter where he is. Like our top 9 is Laf, Zib, Kakko, Panarin, Strome, Kravtsov, Kreider Chytil Goodrow. Theres not a bad player there imo.

Said it before but you can take it to the bank that Panarin is picking his center, happens at every level of hockey. Star players get their guy.

They make up expectations based on nothing and ignore logic. It doesn’t matter how many times you can post a stat they’ll ignore it. I’ve shown in the past with regards to nash when he played under 16 or 17 mins a game that there was like one instance the previous five years of a player with 60+ or 70+ points (again, can’t remember actual numbers) and all the responses are that if he’s paid that much he should produce more. The preconceived notions are too strong.

just look at marchand’s career. He’s played with bergeron his whole career. He didn’t just get better and turn from a 55 point player to a 90 point player. He went from off the PP to on PP1 in like his 6th year or whatever and his numbers exploded. His 5v5 rates throughout his career have been mostly consistent. If you do not play a big role and are not on the PP at all or team dependent not on PP1 you cannot put up huge numbers no matter how good you are.

Kinkaid’s numbers last season were comparable to Georgiev’s. He has more experience, maturity, none of the locker room issues, and costs a lot less.

I’m fine with him as backup.

I'm fine with both of them, cheap depth at the goalie position is nice to have

You might be right. But personally if I could get a second for Georgiev I’d take it and grab one of the many decent vets out there as backup. I’m not saying to dump him for a sixth or seventh.

How on earth do we keep Strome here past this season with a flat cap and guys like Zibanejad + Fox needing new contracts? Unless Drury can move Kreider, I don’t see how it’s possible.

Moving Kreider's money to give Strome the bag is ridiculous. If you can move Kreider's contract, you are looking to re-sign your young guys or make a major upgrade.

Eichel having neck issues saved the Rangers from themselves in acquiring him. He'd already be a Ranger if he was 100% healthy.

The Sabres want a lot for Eichel. Even with a healthy Eichel, the Sabres still want 4 prime assets. Maybe more. $10M. Flat cap. That's a tough fit. The Sabres aren't interested in retaining money or taking back money.

Darren Dreger discussed Eichel on his podcast with Ray Ferraro. It came out this morning. Eichel is seeing other neck specialists trying to confirm the opinion of the doctor in Colorado. If other doctors agree with the Colorado doctor, chances are the Sabres will allow Eichel to have the artificial disc replacement surgery.

Elliotte Friedman had said last week(Wednesday?) that there was supposed to be a decision on the next course of action by the end of last week. Friday. Nothing happened.

If Eichel has the ADR, he is not playing for several months. If Eichel has the spinal fusion surgery, he is not playing anytime soon.

So there was supposed to be 1 last prospect practice today but it was canceled right? Any idea why?

My complete guess, the prospects had some injuries in general and many of the guys (forwards specifically) were playing more minutes than anticipated due to those injuries, so probably just decided it made more sense to give the guys a couple of days off prior to the main camp

I know that some of the young players have some potential performance bonuses they can hit, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little disappointed to see the Rangers not utilize their $8m+ in cap space as a weapon to secure more draft capital. Be that something like Georgiev for Koskinen + or something else, I would have hoped Drury would find a way to utilize that better.

Still time. Don'tthe first wave of meaningful roster moves happen a month or so after the first games? As players get hurt, or flame out and get waived.

I would prefer he not make a trade that will make the team worse.
