I don’t see what Barron has left to prove in the ahl.

It was a shortened, odd season in the AHL last year. Many of the better players were playing overseas and there were young players who should have been in Junior also playing for some teams. He had really good numbers overall but his play was a little up and down (his points appeared to come in bunches I believe). If the team is serious about him playing center in the NHL, playing him 30-40 more games in the AHL with 20 minutes per night with PP and PK time wouldn't be a bad thing.

Barron went pointless in 4 games out of 21. His production was very consistent.

The A was watered down so there is no argument from me there, but I don't really think he would need to cut his teeth in the A as a "center." If he makes it on the NHL squad as one it's going to be for the 3rd line, I don't think his game really needs the type of reps that he'd be better suited learning in the A. If he plays in the A, it's likely because there isn't room for him with the NHL team (also entirely possible he has a bad camp.)

With Barron, I'd rather him get 1st line time in Hartford than 4th line icetime in New York.

A spot will open up over the season.

We just have too many forwards.... Someone has to go.

If I was to guess, I'd say this is the attitude from management as well.

Guys like Hunt and Rooney are here to play 10 minutes a night. Perhaps they see Barron as a top 9 player ultimately.

You are welcome to your opinion. You haven't proved it any more than people have proved he was a target. Maybe you will be proven right this season, maybe not.
It’s not incumbent of me to prove a players worth. That’s the player’s job. You’re telling me Blais has proven he is equivalent to Bennett or Tanev with his play in 72 games over two seasons? No.

Barron (and Richards) top this list as near-NHL ready F's

last year was weird season with only 2 opponents,
and awkward schedule (all day games in empty rinks, one of which was barely pro quality)

as @NYR Viper wrote, zero downside to Barron playing all situations, in a leader role, for a while
and alongside some new guys,
and under Steve Smith, who, even though he will focus on D guys, can speak from experience about smart physical play along the wall and in-front.

let Gallant sort out the vets, and i am confident he will merge in ready kids as situations arise

A lot of Zac(h)s on D...

I'm still waiting for why what I have written is incorrect other than just opinion comments though. Are there actual facts based on the numbers you can provide?
Bennett and Tanev didn’t establish themselves with only 76 games over two seasons. It’s not fair to them or to Blais to expect the same from him.
It is what it is. Give it time.

I'm guessing the hopes are Blais can be a Coleman type.

Coleman also didn't 'put it together' until his age 26 and 27 season.

Just a heads up from a couple people I know, the team loves Rempe and are going to do everything in their power to convert his size into a useful piece as a two-way center.

My lowkey prediction is that Dryden Hunt becomes a fan favorite on the 4th line.

He doesn't kill penalties, but his limited minutes mean he goes out there and hits and grinds every shift. Hunt-Rooney-Blais has real potential as a pain in the ass 4th line.

... even Berzolla [RHD], while never playing a game for Pack, had signed AHL PTO last spring w Pack
Berzolla Signs with AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack - Colorado College Athletics

FYI Berzolla, after not dressing for Pack,
did get in almost 20 pro/ECHL games

Neuber Returns and Berzolla Bolsters Back End
06 May 2021
"Berzolla, 22, signed a PTO with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) on Mar. 25 but did not appear in a game. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound blueliner recently played four years at Colorado College where he earned a reputation as a reliable defenseman and stalwart shot blocker. Berzolla blocked 68 shots in 23 games with the Tigers this season, placing him first in the NCHC and fourth in the nation. The Howell, New Jersey native also ranked second in the NCAA with 2.96 blocks per game.
Berzolla’s ability to clog shooting lanes extends beyond his senior season. The defenseman finished eighth nationally as a junior in the 2019-20 season with 77 blocked shots, and he placed ninth in the NCAA as a sophomore in 2018-19 with 83 blocked shots.
Prior to his time with Colorado College, Berzolla skated with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League for three seasons. His best year came as an 18-year-old with Muskegon when he posted four goals, 16 assists, and a +20 rating."

His underlying numbers indicate a guy who can play a Brandon Tanev-like style. That's useful for sure in any bottom-6
