Who else would be 4C in that scenario? Barron?

Rooney is a pretty good 4C and penalty killer IMO, and fits perfectly for where we need him in the lineup right now. I’d love for Barron to win out that spot, but I think he’d be better served continuing to grow as the 1C in HFD before making the jump to the NHL either later this year or next year. Justin Richards is another kid that I’m hoping can have another good year in HFD before forcing his way into a 4th line role next season.

I have Goodrow as 4C at the moment. Though I don’t really think of it as a typical fourth line. Think it’s 3B. Basically the line that comes out for defensive zone faceoffs. Goodrow, Blais, Reaves/Hunt. 3A being Kreider, Chytil, and probably Kravtsov.

Wholly disagree, Blais was behind deep W depth in in StLou and I expect him to break out, maybe not Graves-like, but expect he will contribute end to end

The thing about people having both Blais and Goodrow in the top 9 is that it only works if Kravtsov is in the AHL.

Lafreniere, Kreider, Kakko, Panarin, Kravtsov will all be in the top 9 if they are in the NHL.

I sincerely hope @cwede is right, and don’t know that this won’t happen. That would in fact be a break-out season for Blais- in other words, he would be out-performing.

At the same time, @egelband prediction is entirely possible and I think just as likely if not more likely. Blais did not even definitively beat out his competition for bottom-six minutes in St. Louis.

not trying to shit on Blais here, but the quoted expectations of him on this thread have steadily grown all off-season. I will not bat an eyelash reading the post calling for Blais to get the C before the puck is dropped.

Dorsett was considered a throw in to the Gaborik trade but ended up being a very good piece for us and part of the best 4th line we've ever fielded with Boyle and Moore.
