I read that when you posted it. Your projection might come to be, but Blais hasn’t established that consistently yet.

It's not a projection though. That was all past stats. Over the last 2 years he is on par with Bennett and Tanev and at his salary, that's an asset to pretty much every team in the NHL.

It’s a projection in that Tanev and Bennett have performed at that level for more than 76 GP over two seasons, and for worse teams than the Blues were over those two seasons.

To say that Blais is just as good because a snapshot of his numbers matches other players on other teams is cherry picking.

Am I the only one who legit thinks Kravtsov could be the best player in the league sans McDavid?

How far back should we go? He just turned 25 over this off-season so we are talking his 23 year old and 24 year old seasons. Beyond that he spent half of his 22 year old season in the AHL.

I think the point you;re missing is that the fact that there is even a conversation about him playing similarly to those players makes him valuable and more than a 'throw-in'.

Do you think we’d get a 2nd for Blais right now? If not, then he wasn’t the main piece of the return for Buch.

So in trades, there is ONE main piece and every "lesser" piece is a throw in. Got it.

Kravtsov is rather unlikely to score 35 points in what is likely a L3/PP2 or L3/no PP role. He scored 4 points in 20 games last year and didn't even score at that rate in the AHL the year prior. 35 points in that role would be absurdly good production. That's basically Chytil's role last year. He played 13:14/game.

For reference four players scored at least 0.42 pts/game last year with 13.25 mins/game or less (40+ games played).

Spezza, Chytil, Wahlstrom, Sprong (out of 61 forwards)

The year before there were five (out of 99 forwards)

Virtanen, Gaudette, Grimaldi, Gurianov, Spezza

And the year before that there were four (out of 110 forwards)

Bjorkstrand, Duclair, Thomas, Pominville

Bjorkstrand and Grimaldi are the only two to have 30 even strength points in a year.

So if you're expecting 35+ points you are expecting him to have a much bigger role than I am (specifically a spot on L1 or L2 since he's more likely to be off the PP than on PP1 given Panarin Strome Zibanejad Kakko Lafreniere Chytil are likely all ahead of him. Then Trouba/Fox. That leaves one spot. Could be Kravtsov. Could (more likely) be Nils. Or you are expecting to have one of the top 3 best seasons of any forwards in a L3 role the last 3 years.

I think Kravtsov can sneak his way onto PP1. Strome is a misfit there and Krav is one of the few guys I can see displacing him.

Thats also the only way hes scoring 35-40 points unless he plays him self into a top 6 role, which is probably less likely. 4 in 20 or what ever isn't an accurate reflection of how he played last year (especially early on) but his game definitely tailed off from games 11-20 compared to 1-10.

I've said this a few times, bu I really hope IF we have this roster for camp they put strome and kreider back together.

They were really good together while panarin was out and that would allow chytil a chance to start with panarin.

Something like:

laf zib kakko
panarin chytil goodrow
kreider strome kravtsov
blais rooney reeves

No, I’m telling you he’s a throw-in. He’s welcome to prove otherwise this season.
You are welcome to your opinion. You haven't proved it any more than people have proved he was a target. Maybe you will be proven right this season, maybe not.

Dorsett was considered a throw in to the Gaborik trade but ended up being a very good piece for us and part of the best 4th line we've ever fielded with Boyle and Moore.
Dorsett was very ahead of his time for a 4th liner.
