right but that is hardly taking responsibility for anything that is wrong, he is just saying it hurts my feelings. Look at the end of last year when we were dumped out of the playoffs. Babs deflected every single criticism while dubas took the blame himself for a lot things that obviously aren't his fault

Nah he shouldered it lol. He took the blame. He said they are working on that, which means the players aren't doing what they work on.

2017-18 .... GM: Lou Lam & Coach: Babcock ...... Leafs All-time points 105 a 100 record.
2018-19 ... GM : Dubas & Coach: Babcock .......... Leafs decline in points to 100 points
2019-20 ...GM : Dubas & Coach: Sheldon Keefe after firing Babcock .... Leafs potentially miss the playoffs.

Only in Toronto, just 2 years removed from setting an all-time 100 year franchise record for both points and wins in a season by a Leafs team do we face the possibility of having a new GM and coach with little to no NHL experience after replacing a GM with 30 years and coach with 17 years of NHL experience and think they're moving in the right direction.

This feels like a bad déjà vu for me .. In early 2003-05 Pat Quinn was both GM and Coach and Leafs were putting up 100 point season and playoff wins.. Then MLSE thought they were going in the right direction by bringing in young future thinking John Ferguson JR as GM and bumped Quinn down to just coach. It resulted in a missed playoffs and JFJ took advantage to fire Quinn in 2006 and replace him with his own guy by promoting his young AHL coach.

JRJ sold the change as ... "This change is as much about the future, and where we are going as an organization, as it is as much about what has transpired here," Toronto general manager John Ferguson said at a news conference.

The Leafs haven't won a playoff round since and went on to miss the playoffs for consecutive years thereafter before MLSE took out a public apology to fans admitting their mistake of going with a greenhorn GM that was over his head..

I expect Dubas to sell the inevitable Babcock pending firing similar to plagiarizing JFJ former quote .. "This change is as much about the future, and where we're going as an organization, as it is as much about what has transpired here".

History tends to repeat itself, but as the saying goes 'Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.'.

Didn't Babcock say at the end of last season, "we need more". He was once again blaming somebody else, instead of taking any responsibility.

Today I need to find Jesus so I can deal with this nonsense, I truly do.

I am not Dubas's biggest fan. I don't even like the guy, he wasn't my choice to be the GM. People waxing poetic about missing Lou are severely missing the plot.

People thinking that Babcock is this innocent victim and he's going to be Toronto'ed is also severely missing the plot. It's not all his fault and I think anyone being fair would acknowledge that fact. but he's not this innocent person being set up to fail.

like come the ever love on.

Didn't Babcock say at the end of last season, "we need more". He was once again blaming somebody else, instead of taking any responsibility.

I believe what he said was "we need better players". He said it BEFORE the playoffs started but AFTER the TDL has passed. So he was basically saying the team wasn't good enough BEFORE the battle even began.

And that was the moment I was done with Babcock as I just don't see how it's possible to have success with that kind of loser mentality leading the way.

Somehow master negotiator Lou, who signed PM to a 3 year deal knowing he'd play 2, and signing Zaitsev after one year in the league to a lengthy contract, moving to the Isles and signing Komarov for 4 years, Nelson $^m for 6 years, would have done a better job here because ..... old guy

“ If “he said that “ it hurts him “ or something to that effect ....
Than wow , what a looser
Can you see Imlach , Bowman , Burns , Quinn or any other strong leader ever showing his negative , downer , defeatist feelings out there ..
Man o man
I’m pretty sure that Burns and Quinn would have said , fu and mind your own business or some other words and statements to that effect
“ If “ he said this
I’m blown away with our new age wimpy shit

Babcock needs to get out of his own way and let the boys play. This is a team built to live an die on it's stars. Healthy we can ice two top lines, and two borderline top quality d-pairs. Quit over coaching and let them go. TSN turning point so far- coming off a big win in Boston where the boys got the job done in OT Babs hides them in OT from the Jackets and Pierre Luc Dubois. No offense to Dubois, but Babs hid Marner and Matthews from Pierre Luc f***ing Dubois.

A lot of us were so happy when we first got Babcock. Now, the fan base that wants him fired are not just growing every day by addition, they are multiplying. And for good reason.

I still and always will be of the mind that totally agreed and agree with Babcocks hiring at the time ...
It’s just now , he doesn’t fit the requirements of coaching this team as it is in its development .
It’s time to pass the baton to Keefe that’s all
Babs is a
Good guy
Good pro
Good coach ( not great )
But not now for our team

I am going to say this - Lou like Babcock was something we needed at the darkest time in the franchise's existence. they weren't perfect, no one is perfect. but this "oh swoon, we'd be so much better off." like. yah. no. Lou was here for three years and didn't truly address our glaring weaknesses.

Babcock in my opinion is in "eh feck it, i'm going down i'll take people down with me mode."
it's so obvious and people want to wrap themselves into "But it's Babcock!" blanket. He's not entirely to blame but he's not innocent. i think he's a huge chunk of the issue we have here. He's not fixing his issues so quite frankly i'm done w/him.

Anyone that says I’m done with Babcock is ok in my book lol.

Not until everyone is healthy and he has a full team for ten game span , then the decision will be made
For the 10th time lol
If this continues after all of the above , it will happen before the new year

Such simple, rational logic.....yet so alien to so many.

They compete every night. Every second of every shift is everything they’ve got. I’m sure Babcock is envious.

It’s almost like Lamoriello recognizes that character and work ethic are just as important as speed and puck skills? It’s almost like those different player types at the bottom create a more diverse group that can do more?

Dubas might catch on, eventually.

You do realize that it was Babcock who scratched Martin and Komarov from the lineup when they were here, not Dubas? He had a Lamoriello roster for 2 years and we still didn't get past the Caps and Bruins. He had Martin and Komarov yet he scratched them in favour of skilled guys like Kapanen and Johnsson. So Dubas got rid of them so he could use the cap space more efficiently, because why is he going to pay 5.5 mill for Babcock to scratch them half of the season or to use them on the 4th line when he can pay 1 mill more for two guys who are playing in our top 9 with our star players... As Babcock has chosen to do.

This is an absolutely pitiful attempt to satisfy your agenda against Dubas.

This is truly how I see it, he loves to apportion blame anywhere but himself. Saying it "hurt my feelings" takes him from accepting responsibility for some things at puts it back onto him being hard done by.

Those were the olden days. People don't talk like that any more. Some of us may still think it but we don't say it. We are a much more political and soft culture today. What in the world do you get arguing with OV? Especially given that what he said was true. Everyone knows the Leafs are a weak kneed team and don't stand up for each other. and in the playoffs when game is reffed different it counts.

Yeah but then this thread would have been closed 50 pages ago... Where is the fun in that?
